Shawn frowned as he watched the two of them speaking in riddles.

Just as he was about to ask what was going on, a sudden commotion erupted at the entrance of the party.

The Sterlings looked up to see Sierra, dressed in her WonderWild Zoo uniform, her hair slightly messy, and her breathtakingly beautiful face, usually so composed, now filled with anger.

Natalie couldn’t help but smirk, knowing exactly why Sierra had shown up. She strutted over to Sierra. “Sierra, you’re finally here! Mom’s been waiting for you all day. It’s good to have you back.”

Then, Natalie glanced at Sierra’s messy clothes and the wildlife rescue team behind her, all in their zoo uniforms. She gave a slight smile. “But you know, since it’s Mom’s birthday, showing up in work uniforms with your friends isn’t really the best look.”

Before Sierra could do something, Sophie stepped up and landed a slap right across Natalie’s face.

Sophie was lightning fast, and Natalie never saw it coming.

Natalie grabbed her cheek, and for a split second, it felt like she’d smashed into a steel plate. Then came the pain, sharp and gnawing, like a swarm of ants biting at her skin.

Tears and snot burst out of her face instantly.

Natalie looked up in shock, pointing at Sophie. “You!”

Sophie replied coolly, “You’re so annoying.” Then, without missing a beat, she added, “You totally had it coming.”

Natalie was rendered speechless.

The Sterling family was high society royalty, but the Paterson family was on another level entirely. It was one of the world’s absolute elite families, with most of their empire spread abroad and in Hillspo,

The Sterling family and the Paterson family weren’t even in the same league, and Sophie flew under the radar at the Patersons’ place, so hardly anyone at the party even knew who she was.

“I was the one who slapped her. Why are you yelling at Sierra?” Sophie said, giving Jimmy a baffled look.

Sophie thought Jimmy was clueless or had some eye problems.

She was the one who slapped Natalie, yet Sierra was the one catching all the heat.

‘He’s nuts, seriously, Sophie thought.

Jimmy stared at Sophie, feeling totally stuck.

Most people had no clue who Sophie really was, but Jimmy knew exactly what she was about.

So even though Jimmy saw Sophie slap Natalie, he wouldn’t dare go after her. All he could do was keep dumping the blame on Sierra, just to let off steam.

Jimmy looked both awkward and furious.

After a long, tense silence, he finally turned to Sierra. “You brought these disrespectful people here, and I didn’t make trouble for your friends. But the moment you walked in, your friend slapped Nat. You need to apologize to her right now”

“What if I refuse?” Sierra finally spoke up, her tone icy and defiant.

Jimmy was stunned.

Right then, Sierra finally moved.

With everyone caught off guard, she raised her hand high and landed a sharp slap across Natalie’s face.

Natalie was still reeling from the last three slaps, and now, with another slap, she was left completely dazed, and her mind went blank.

Her face turned ghostly pale, pupils shrinking as she stood there, staring at Sierra in utter disbelief.

‘Sierra really just slapped me in front of everyone? She didn’t even care who was watching!’ Natalie thought. ‘But that was exactly what I’ve been hoping for.

A quick, sneaky smile flashed across Natalie’s lips, gone before anyone could catch it.

She let a couple of tears slip out and then turned to the Sterlings, looking as miserable as possible, making sure the whole family saw just how pitiful she looked.

Shawn couldn’t stand it anymore. He looked at Natalie’s swollen cheek, his heart aching for her.

But when he saw the angry faces of Sierra and her friends, Shawn hesitated, his voice dropping instinctively. “Sierra, can’t we just sit down and have a proper talk?”

He glanced around at the crowd of onlookers, all there for the drama, and added with a warning in his voice, “There are a lot of big shots here today, and we’re live streaming.”

“There’s nothing left to talk about between us,” Sierra snorted, her eyes briefly landing on Sharon, unnoticed by most.

Then she said, “Let me make this clear. I’m here today to say something to Mrs. Sterling and Natalie. Quit stirring up trouble behind my back and stop with all your shady, underhanded games.”

Shawn and Jonathan looked completely baffled.

They turned to look at Sharon and Natalie.

Jonathan recalled the dreams he had lately and couldn’t help blurting out to Sharon, “Mom, what does Sierra mean? What did you guys do this time?”

Sharon opened her mouth, but didn’t know what to say.

Even if she tried to play dumb, she knew exactly what Sierra was talking about. It was all about Legend of Harmony.

She thought Sierra would be over the moon to get the opportunity, but it turned out Sierra didn’t appreciate it at all.

Neither of them said a word, but Jimmy scoffed. “The female lead? That’s supposed to be a good thing! Why are you causing drama here? Get out and stop making a fool of yourself in front of everyone!”

“Dad!” Jonathan suddenly snapped, his face dark with anger. He glanced at Sharon, noticing how pale she looked, and asked, “Mom, were you part of this too?”

Sharon looked sheepish, but with Jonathan pressing her nonstop, she managed a shaky nod, her voice barely a squeak. “I… I just wanted to give Sierra a leg up, maybe set her up with some opportunities.

“I had no idea it’d turn into such a mess.”

Jonathan’s face was a storm of frustration and disbelief.

He couldn’t wrap his head around what Sharon was thinking.

Sierra had quit the industry for good. These days, she only did her livestreams and never talked about showbiz at all. Her whole world was her animals now.

Her stance was so clear. Jonathan wondered why Sharon did not see that.

Shawn was just as stunned. He never imagined Sharon would actually do something like this.

He said in a low, frustrated voice, “Mom, how could you? Sierra’s quit showbiz for good. By pushing these resources on her, you’re only making things worse for her.”

Sharon’s face went even paler, and she was totally freaking out.

She saw how angry Sierra looked, quickly stepped forward, and said in a shaky whisper, “Sierra, I swear I didn’t mean for this to happen. I thought you quit because you couldn’t land any decent roles. Please, let me apologize, okay?”

This time, Sharon was truly freaking out.

Honestly, she never really liked Sierra’s personality. Especially after she came back, she had always been hostile to Natalie and never cared about how the family felt.

But Sierra had spent more than twenty years living outside, all because of Natalie. No matter what, Sharon couldn’t help but feel a little guilty and sorry for her.
