“What?” Timothy’s Voice got louder. “I thought Natalie was adopted, but you’re saying someone actually switched you two? So, Natalie’s basically the enemy’s kid? What the heck was the Sterling family thinking?”

Sierra had spent two lifetimes trying to figure that out, and she still didn’t have a clue.

She sighed helplessly, “Guess she’s just more lovable or something.”

“But that’s no excuse to treat their own kid like that,” Timothy spat. “If someone ever took my daughter, I’d wipe out their whole family.”

Sierra looked stunning now, so just imagine how much of a knockout she must’ve been as a kid.

If he ever lost a daughter that cute, he’d totally lose it.

Timothy was so fired up for Sierra. He was actually thinking about going back and throwing down with the Sterling family.

Sophie tilted her head. “So are Natalie’s real parents in jail now?”

Sierra shook her head. “If the Sterling family is set on protecting Natalie, then her real parents will never end up in jail. As long as they all cover for each other, I’m totally screwed.”

That’s exactly why Natalie acts so boldly.

She knew that no matter what she did, the Sterling family would always have her back.

Sophie suddenly chimed in, “But you’ve got the government behind you. This isn’t some small thing. We’re not gonna let anyone mess with you.”

Timothy nodded, fired up. “Yeah, Sierra, I just can’t swallow this. Let’s fight them to the end!”

Alex, sitting in the passenger seat, said softly, “We’ve all got your back.”

Mark added, “Whatever you decide, we’re with you.”

Sierra blinked, her eyes red and her voice trembling, betraying the storm raging inside her.

Sierra said, “I didn’t have any proof before, but I never planned to just let it go

She could wait a year, two years, or even a whole lifetime. She was determined to see Natalie’s parents pay for what they did.

As they were talking, the van pulled up to the zoo entrance. Ryan was standing there in his black security uniform, towering and looking like he meant business. He’d look pretty badass if it weren’t for that giant pole he was lugging around.

When he saw Sierra get out of the car, he rushed over, his face full of concern. “Sierra, I saw you trending online. Are you alright?”

Sierra stepped out and gave Ryan a look that lingered, her gaze deep and unreadable.

Ryan thought Sierra was upset, so he started going off, all fired up, and then kept fussing over her, making sure she was okay.

When he finished, he looked at Sierra again, only to find her still staring at him.

“W-What’s up?” Ryan stammered, a little confused.

Sierra arched an eyebrow, her lips curling into a teasing grin. “I caught you scrolling on your phone at work.”

Ryan thought, “That’s what she cares about right now?’

Ryan’s eyes went wide. He looked like he wanted to say something, but just couldn’t get it out.

Chapter 110

He was totally guilty because he really had been slacking off on his phone during work.

Luckily, Sierra just said it offhand, and when Ryan saw she was acting as if nothing happened, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

“Thank God, she didn’t punish me,’ Ryan thought.

Ryan cleared his throat. “Sierra, you guys keep talking. The security chief just called me for a meeting, so I gotta run.”

With that, he bolted.

Sierra burst out laughing. Timothy looked at her, totally confused. “Sierra, what’s so funny?”

Sierra grinned. “The head of security is Payton.”

Timothy just stared for a second, and then quietly gave her a thumbs-up and blurted out, “Damn, that’s awesome!”

‘Can you even imagine a husky running a security staff meeting?’ he thought.

When Sierra got back to the staff dorm, she replied to everyone who’d reached out to check on her, including Henry, Vivian, and Elliot.

Henry was busy updating the higher-ups, pushing for a special team to investigate who Natalie’s real parents were.

As soon as Sierra walked in, Payton was sprawled out on the couch, howling excitedly.

“Sierra, are you okay? I saw you on TV today!” Payton whined.

Sometimes, Sierra had to go out on missions and couldn’t take Payton with her. She was worried it’d get bored, so she even set up a TV just for it.

So, whenever Sierra wasn’t home, Payton would just chill on the floor or couch and watch TV to pass the time.

But today, while messing around with the remote, Payton suddenly saw Sierra, on the news!

“Those Sterling family punks again!’ Payton thought. ‘Not only do they mess with me, but now they’re picking on Sierra too! Do they really think a husky’s temper is something they can mess with?’

“Sierra, let’s go back right now! There’s no way I’m letting this slide. I’m gonna help you get payback!” Payton barked.

‘I’ll bite Natalie’s ass!’ Payton thought.

Chapter 111

Payton was about to head out.

Sierra couldn’t help but feel amused. She quickly grabbed Payton’s collar and said, “Come back here. I can handle it myself”

Payton didn’t buy it.

‘Sierra’s so small and helpless. How could she possibly deal with this by herself?’ Payton wondered.

But Sierra just shut the door. Payton could only jump onto the couch, fuming, thinking, ‘Next time I see Natalie, I’m really going to make her pay! Guys aren’t supposed to hit girls, but I’m a dog, so I can totally teach her a lesson!’

Seeing Payton all puffed up and mad, Sierra couldn’t help but feel both touched and amused.

Payton had been shedding a ton lately. Its fur was all over the couch, the bed, and the rug on the tile floor. Sierra grabbed the vacuum and started cleaning up.

She tidied up the room in high spirits and bathed Payton while she was at it.

While Sierra was just chilling at home, the whole real vs. fake heiress thing was trending like crazy online.

Natalie stared at her phone in disbelief. Her five million followers had plummeted to less than a million. She was on the verge of a meltdown.

But the real kicker was that WonderWild Zoo’s lawyers really did slap her and Sharon with a lawsuit.

Under Jonathan’s pressure, Natalie had no choice but to go to Brock.

Brock didn’t seem bothered by the trending topic at all. When Natalie came to him, hoping he’d help, Brock gave her a once-over and said, “I can step in and say it was all a misunderstanding, but…”

As he spoke, Brock’s eyes suddenly turned lecherous, and he reached into Natalie’s clothes.

“But for a favor this big, don’t you think you owe me something in return?”

Early the next morning, Timothy knocked on the door of Sierra’s staff dorm

When Sierra opened up, Ethan, Mark, Alex, and Sophie were all crowded at her door, and every single one of them looked pissed.

Sierra arched an eyebrow, already guessing what this was about.

She moved aside to let them in.

As soon as Timothy walked in, he sat down right next to Payton, but ended up sitting right on Payton’s paw. Payton let out a low growl, and Timothy quickly lifted his butt off.

Payton rolled its eyes. “Idiot. You’ve got two eyes, right? Why sit on my paw? Why not just make yourself comfortable and sit in my lap?”

Timothy felt like Payton was totally dissing him and blurted out, “Is this dog cursing at me?”

“No way, Payton’s super well-behaved. He never insults anyone,” Sierra said, straight-faced, totally lying through her teeth. Then she quickly changed the subject. “So, what brings you all here?”

Timothy got all fired up as he started ranting, “Sierra, did you see Brock’s Twitter post? He’s saying it was just a misunderstanding, that the intern tagged the wrong person, and he’s even offering to apologize to you.

“But let’s be real, he’s totally taking Natalie’s side. What a joke!”

This whole thing could’ve blown up, but Brock just swept it under the rug with a lame excuse about it being a misunderstanding, and now everyone was pretending it never happened.

As Timothy went on, he noticed Sierra was totally unfazed. After he finished listing all the messed-up things that happened, Sierra just gave a casual “Oh,” and that was it.

“Sierra, aren’t you even a little surprised? Aren’t you pissed off?” Timothy flopped back on the couch, letting out a long sigh “Honestly, I’m about to explode. I swear, I’m gonna get breast nodules from all this stress!”

Sierra glanced at Timothy’s chest and smirked. “I’d be more surprised if Brock didn’t step in. Everyone online knows Natalie’s a fraud now. That’s good enough for me.”

Timothy thought, ‘Seriously? That’s enough for you? If it were up to me, I’d kick Natalie out and put Sierra back in her rightful place as the Sterling family’s heiress.’

But then he remembered that Sierra never even wanted that title in the first place.

“Man, it’s so unfair. After all this drama, Natalie still hasn’t paid for what she did,” Timothy complained.

“Who says she hasn’t?” Sierra replied coolly.

Timothy blinked, caught off guard.

Alex, who was also sitting on the couch, seemed to get it. “Brock has got a reputation for messing with the actors on his sets. and he’s got some serious connections. Getting him to step in isn’t easy. Natalie must have paid the price.”

One wrong move, and it was all downhill from there.

Now, karma was finally starting to catch up with Natalie.

It clicked for Timothy. He suddenly got what Alex meant, and he felt a lot better.

Sierra handed out water to everyone and said, “You guys didn’t just come here this early to talk about that, right?”

Timothy instantly gave her a thumbs-up. “You really are sharp, Sierra! Eeef, go ahead and spill it yourself.”

Ethan rolled his eyes at Timothy.

Timothy quickly clasped his hands together in a begging gesture and then urged Ethan, “Come on, just say it already. Don’t keep Sierra waiting.”

Ethan finally spoke up, “Elyria is filming a documentary right now. They’re inviting wildlife experts from all over the world to showcase their marine worlds. Mr. Monroe wants you to go, and he wants you to really make it high-profile.”

Sierra didn’t even have to think about it. She already knew what this was about.

In just twenty years, Hustralia’s economy had skyrocketed, but there were still plenty of people around the world who

looked down on them.

Hustralia and Elyria were neighbors, and tensions were always high. Elyrians had always looked down on Hustralians, and Hustralians’d been getting pushed around for years. That’s why Thomas wanted Sierra to go and completely outclass the Elyrians this time.

Of course, Ethan added a condition that made it impossible for Sierra to refuse. “Mr. Monroe said the appearance fee is 300

thousand per person.”

“Then what are we waiting for?” Sierra spun around and marched straight to her closet. “Just tell me when we’re leaving? I’m packing right now!”

The group just stared, totally dumbfounded.

‘She becomes so excited every time it comes to money, huh?’ they all wondered.

The trip to Elyria was scheduled for three days later. After packing up and making sure everything at WonderWild Zoo was squared away, Sierra hopped on her flight to Elyria.

With Elyria surrounded by the ocean, the salty tang of the sea hit Sierra the moment she stepped off the plane.

Someone was waiting for them outside the airport.

The documentary crew had arranged a small bus, and when Sierra got there, it was already full of animal experts from all over the globe.

Sierra glanced around. Most of the faces were strangers, but a guy sitting up front made her pause for a second.

At that moment, the guy in the front stood up and looked Sierra up and down.

Then, with an arrogant tone, he said, “You must be the experts from Hustralia, right? Name’s Sebastian Wiggins, Elyria’s top marine biologist.

“For the next few days, you can stick close and learn from me, or just help out with whatever I need. If you’re clueless about anything, I’ll teach you.”

He reached out to shake hands with the wildlife rescue team, but Sierra just glanced at his hand, her attitude cool and uninterested, not bothering to move.

It was clear Sebastian was looking down on them just because they were from Hústralia. He was just trying to stir things up.

Seeing how sour the Hustralians looked, Sebastian felt even more smug, and his tone got even cockier. “What can I say? Every Hustralian I’ve met was so slow, always dragging the team down.

“So, I think you guys should just tag along with the real experts and maybe pick up a few things.”

Sebastian shrugged and spread his hands. “Hey, nothing personal!”

As soon as he said that, Ethan and the others, who’d been keeping a straight face, instantly looked pissed.

Sebastian really was at the pinnacle of the marine world. Just like Sierra, he had an uncanny bond with marine creatures, which propelled his career to new heights. At only thirty-five, he was already standing at a height most could only dream of

But no matter how good he was, he couldn’t just trample on their national pride.

Timothy was hot-tempered. If he could throw down, he wouldn’t bother with words. He rolled up his sleeves, ready to go.

But before he could take two steps, Sierra grabbed him and pulled him back.

Sierra’s annoyance flickered across her face for just a moment, but when she looked at Sebastian, she gave him a faint, almost mocking smile.

“So, Mr. Wiggins, you mean you want us to be your apprentices?” Sierra asked, her tone light with a touch of sarcasm.

Sebastian was caught off guard for a moment. He hadn’t expected this striking woman to actually understand his language, let alone speak up. After a brief pause, he nodded. “Yes.”

Sierra flashed a sly smile. “But that’s not in the contract. If you’re really set on making us your lackeys, I don’t mind.”

Sebastian looked genuinely baffled.

Sierra went on, “According to my online rate, I get about ten million per project. And my seniors are even more skilled than I am. But, Mr. Wiggins, we can give you a discount. Just pay us 60 million.”

Sebastian’s face twisted in shock, and he blurted out in choppy Hustralian, “60 million? Are you insane?”

‘How dare this Hustralian woman ask for such a sky-high price?’ Sebastian fumed inside.

Sierra’s expression didn’t change, but her voice was cold and razor-sharp, her words slicing right through Sebastian. “Yeah, I was just about to ask you the same thing. Mr. Wiggins.”

‘How does a fraud who mistreats marine creatures even have the gall to act all superior?’ Sierra thought.
