Chapter 121
Chapter 121
Leah got chewed out by its mother again.
The humpback whale mom was fanning the flames. “You really need to keep Leah in check.

“Every time, it is either causing trouble with the manta rays or picking on Finn. If you don’t start paying attention now, you’ll never be able to control it when it is older.”
Leah protested, “No, we were just playing! I wasn’t picking on Finn!”
“Yeah, right!” The humpback whale mom was fiercely protective. “I could hear my baby crying from seven or eight miles away!
“When I got here, you were still whacking him with your fin. If you mess with my baby again, I’ll beat you up every time I see you!”
Leah wailed, “Wah!”
Leah thought, ‘I really was just playing with Finn! Why isn’t Finn speaking up?”
Leah shouted, “Finn, aren’t we good friends? Hurry up and tell your mom we’re just playing!”
Finn nodded and quickly said, “Mòm, Leah and I are really friends.”
The humpback whale’s mom didn’t buy it at all. It looked at Finn with pity, convinced Finn was being threatened. “Don’t be scared, baby. I’ll protect you. When you grow up to be as big as me, you can just sit on Leah and crush it.”
Both Finn and Sierra were speechless.
Sierra thought, ‘Just how wild is Leah usually? No wonder it is the ocean’s public enemy number one.”
The humpback whale mom took Finn back into the deep sea, reluctant to say goodbye.
It was only after its mom promised to bring it back tomorrow that Finn finally agreed to leave.
Leah, who still hadn’t had enough fun today, clung to the boat for dear life and refused to let go.
Worried Leah might get hurt, Sierra stayed with it and the orca kids, playing in the ocean for another hour, only dragging herself back to the big ship after that.
Sierra was completely wiped out. Sophie brought dinner back from the restaurant, and they ate in the cabin.
Sophie watched Sierra wolfing down her food and sighed, “If you really like Leah and the others, you could always take them home with you.”
Sophie paused for a moment, then said, “I can help you come up with a way.”
Sierra nearly spat out her food in shock.
Sierra raised a hand, flustered, “Sophie, trading animals is illegal! Besides, they belong here. Once the documentary wraps up, I’ll be heading back home. I’ll probably never get to see them again.”
Sierra wasn’t really sad about it. Sometimes, that’s just how fate works. Running into the orca pod out here was already a stroke of luck, but this was their home, and nothing could change that.
“They belong to the ocean, not to me,” Sierra said.

Chapter 121
Sophie looked at Sierra and said, “They’ll definitely miss you when you’re gone.”
“That’s just how it is,” Sierra let out a long sigh. “It’s not that humans can’t step in. It’s just way more complicated than it looks.
“A single panda can bring in billions, so their enclosures are always spotless, and tourists come just for them.”
She added, “But in most zoos, the animals that aren’t rare don’t get the same treatment. The parrots in the aviary, the monkey troops, they’re just too ordinary or easy to care for, so nobody pays them much attention.
“So sometimes, it’s not that people can’t help animals; it’s just that there isn’t enough money. Or, to be brutally honest, they’re just not worth it.”
That was the harsh reality in wildlife conservation. With limited funds, people always focused on saving the rare and valuable animals first.
That was why thousands of animals still died miserable deaths every year.
The orca pod was doing great right now. Other than the humpback whales that liked to rough them up, they didn’t really have any natural enemies.
So, unless there was no other choice, Sierra would never even think about bringing any of them into the human world.
Sophie didn’t really understand any of this. But she could feel the pain in Sierra’s heart, and it made her own chest tighten.
Sierra really loved animals.
Even though Sierra was completely wiped out today, when Leah begged her to play, Sierra just couldn’t say no. Sierra ended up playing with Leah for ages.
Seeing that Sierra was almost done eating, Sophie cleaned up the lunchbox for her and said, “Get some rest.”
The orca pod would be waiting for Sierra by the boat bright and early every day, and lately Finn had been hanging around with them, too.
The humpback whale mom was just like a parent dropping off and picking up her kid from school. It would bring Finn over in the morning and take it home at night.
For three days straight, aside from the injured dolphin Leah brought to her, Sierra hadn’t spotted any other dolphins around.
The ship had been drifting out here for seven or eight days, and the longer Sierra came up empty-handed, the more Sebastian seemed to enjoy watching her struggle.
By evening, Sierra still hadn’t found a thing. After saying goodbye to the orca pod and the humpback whales, she boarded the ship.
Sebastian was waiting for them. He watched Sierra, Ethan, and the rest drag themselves back, looking wiped out, and snarked, “I thought Hustralian experts were supposed to be hotshots. Still not a single lead after all these days?”
As soon as Sebastian said that, everyone turned to look.
Other teams had tried searching for dolphins too, but anyone in the field knew how unlikely it was to spot them anywhere except their usual hangouts.
Sebastian hadn’t been able to go diving lately, and with most of his authority taken away, he could only take it out on Sierra.
He’d been throwing shade for days, but Sierra just treated him like thin air.
Sebastian’s words just washed over Sierra, like meaningless background noise.

Sierra ignored Sebastian and started chatting with her friends about what to eat for dinner.

“The food here is honestly pretty bland, but the foie gras is actually pretty good,” Timothy perked up as soon as the food came up. “Still, you get sick of it after a while.
“I asked the chef this morning, and he said they’re making pasta tonight. Let’s have that.”
Sierra nodded. “Sounds good.”.
She walked right past Sebastian.
Sebastian was speechless. He couldn’t take it anymore.
“Sierra, I’m your senior here! Can’t you at least show me some respect when I’m talking to you? Aren’t you supposed to be big on manners? Don’t you have any at all?” Sebastian snapped.
After holding it in for ages, Sebastian finally blurted out in Hustralian, “You are such a bitch.”
Bang!
Before Sebastian could finish, he got punched right in the eye, like he’d been slammed with a sledgehammer.
For a moment, his vision went blurry, everything crowding together so he couldn’t see a thing.
Sebastian clutched his eye; the pain was so intense that tears streamed down his face, and his eye instantly swelled up into a huge lump.
He stood there stunned for a second, then snapped, “Are you guys insane? You actually hit me? I’m calling the cops!”
The commotion instantly drew the attention of the documentary director and Coleson.
When Coleson heard it was about the Hustralian expert team, he practically flew up to the deck. But seeing Sebastian clutching his eye, sprawled out on the floor, and howling in pain, he slowed right down, feeling a wave of relief.
‘Whew, it’s just Sebastian getting smacked around. Nothing serious,’ Coleson thought.
But when Coleson caught sight of the stormy faces behind Sierra, Coleson quickly asked, “Hey, what’s going on here? Let’s talk this out, okay?”
Coleson sidled up to Ethan, who was built like a linebacker, and muttered under his breath, “Man, don’t actually kill the guy, or we’ll have a real mess on our hands.”
Sebastian froze.
Sebastian understood enough Hustralian to catch most of what Coleson was saying.
‘Wait, Coleson actually wants to off me and cover it up!’ Sebastian thought, horrified.
Sebastian snapped, “Coleson, so what if you’re the biggest investor?
“Your so-called experts hit me, and now you’re covering for then? Keep it up, and I’ll make sure the Peters family can’t do business in Elyria.”
Coleson shot Sebastian a cold look. He was itching to throw a punch himself, never mind Ethan.
Coleson asked, “What exactly happened here?”
Timothy exploded like a firecracker, his voice shaking with anger. “Sebastian just said Sierra was a bitch.”

As he spoke, Timothy watched in shock as Coleson strode right over, grabbed Sebastian by the collar, his arm muscles bulging, and swung a punch straight at him.
