Ethan and the others knew that Sierra was always calm and composed, no matter what happened. It was rare for her to lose her cool like this.
Alex looked at Sierra, noticing her changed expression, then glanced at the dolphin and quickly asked, “What’s going on?”
Sierra told everyone what the dolphin had just said.
Ethan frowned. “So the dolphin means someone is slaughtering dolphins?”
“That’s right,” Sierra nodded, then looked back at the dolphin in the tank and reassured it, “We’re not here to hurt you. We’re here to protect you. Can you tell us where the missing dolphin pod went?”
Sierra’s eyes were sincere and anxious, totally different from the crazed look the dolphin had seen in those fishermen before.
The dolphin blurted out, “I don’t know what that place is called, but we go there every year to hunt for food. Some people pretend to be drowning, so we’ll try to save them.
“Then they bang on the metal boats with sticks, and we get confused and lose our way. They drive us into a shallow bay, and then-”
The dolphin’s voice broke. “Those people kill us, then haul our bodies onto their boats.”
“Mom told me to swim to Hustralia. She said only Hustralians could save me, that their experts would help. But I’ve never been there before.”
“So you just kept swimming?” Sierra asked.
“Yeah!” the dolphin replied.
Sierra asked again, “How many dolphins were trapped? And are there any distinctive features around that place?”
The dolphin thought for a moment. “I don’t know how many, but the sea was packed with dolphins. As for any distinctive features?”
The dolphin tried to remember, then suddenly said, “That place is really beautiful. The human settlement is colorful, and there are lots of dolphin-themed signs and decorations everywhere.”
As the dolphin spoke, its eyes grew pained. “Humans paint images of us everywhere. Isn’t that because they like us? So why do they still slaughter us?”
Sierra heard the dolphin’s quiet question and was at a loss for words, unable to bring herself to respond.
All she could say was, “We’ll save them.” Then she and the wildlife rescue team left almost as if fleeing the scene.
She had never been so shaken in her entire life.
Sierra found Coleson and shared what she’d found out, purposely leaving out a few things.
Coleson looked shocked. “I never imagined something like this was going on. Should we tell the Elyrians and let them handle it?”
Sierra shook her head. “No, let’s not tip anyone off just yet. I have a feeling the locals already know all about this.”
Coleson hesitated. “But Elyria’s under a fishing ban right now.”

Chapter 123
Sierra’s head was spinning. The clues were too scattered, and she had no idea what to do next.

After a moment, a spark of inspiration flashed in Sierra’s eyes. She shot to her feet and asked, “Coleson, do you know if there are any towns or villages along the Elyrian coast that are dolphin-themed?
“Like, places where the houses are painted with dolphins all over them? Are there many? Could you check it out for me?
Coleson couldn’t help but look at Sierra a bit longer, but didn’t ask why she was suddenly asking about this.
He nodded. “I just started handling the shipping business here last month, so I’m not too familiar with the area. But I can ask my guys.”
Soon, Coleson came back with a map. He laid it out on the table so everyone could see clearly.
Coleson pointed to a few circled spots and said, “Elyria is famous for its dolphins. Along the coastline, there are at least seven or eight dolphin-themed parks. If we have to check each one, it’s going to be a huge job.”
Even so, Coleson grabbed a pen and started crossing off five of the dolphin parks right away.
“These places are super popular around here. If the fishermen were secretly killing dolphins, there’s no way they’d dare do it out in the open,” he said.
That left just three.
Sierra studied the map. Two of the remaining spots were dolphin interaction parks, mainly focused on performances.
Dolphins were incredibly intelligent and deeply affectionate toward humans.
At the beginning of this century, a single dolphin could generate millions of dollars in revenue, so investors saw an opportunity and captured large numbers of dolphins for aquatic performances.
It wasn’t until one dolphin tragically took its own life during a show that the harsh reality of dolphin performances finally came to light.
But for the sake of profit, dolphin shows were still all the rage these days, and crowds still flocked to watch them.
The two spots Coleson pointed out were pretty flat, and when Sierra did some digging, she realized there weren’t many dolphin murals or decorations in the area.
But that last place was packed with narrow bays. If someone wanted to stay out of sight, that spot would be ideal for hiding something shady.
“What’s this place?” Sierra tried searching the address on her phone, but it wasn’t on any map at all.
Coleson said, “It’s called Dolphin Town. The locals are crazy about dolphins, so they built the whole place themselves. But it’s really remote, and barely any tourists ever visit. That’s why you can’t even find it on maps.”
As soon as Coleson finished, Alex shot to his feet. With a steely voice and his finger pressed hard against the map, he said, “It’s on the map.”
“What?” Coleson blinked, confused.
“I said,” Alex spoke each word slowly and clearly, “you can find it. It’s not called Dolphin Town. It’s called Kill Cove!”
