Chapter 136

Even though Sharon tried to convince herself that everything would be okay, her nerves were all over the place. Especially after watching the videos of Sierra in Kill Cove and the return livestreams, she felt her chest tighten so many times and cried.

She didn’t blame Sierra for staying away anymore; it was her own fault as a mom, and she knew it now.

All she wanted was for her daughter to talk to her again.

“Sierra, I know I hurt you, and I’ve been wanting to say sorry,” Sharon said, her voice trembling. “I made who you are public online. When you come back, I’ll give you all my shares, and Jon said he’d give you most of his money.”

Sierra raised an eyebrow, her face full of sarcasm. “Wow, you’re really going all in this time. Are you trying to put in a good word for Natalie?”

After everything blew up, Henry gave Sierra a serious scolding for keeping something so serious from him.

Then he called up the local cops to set up a special task force, and rumor had it the lead officer was already on his way to Genova County to dig into things.

Sierra knew that Sharon was probably here for her precious girl.

Sierra said coldly, “I won’t forgive any of you, and I won’t forgive Natalie either. I told you when I left. I won’t ever let her get away.”

Sharon’s chest tightened, making it hard to breathe. She hurried to explain, “No, I’m not here to beg for Nat. Her parents messed up, and they should pay for it. We’re not getting involved.

“We’re planning to sever ties with Nat; she’ll just be our foster kid from now on.”

Sharon thought Sierra would be touched or maybe even grateful after hearing that because Sierra had always wanted to come home, but the family never approved.

Unexpectedly, Sierra laughed so hard. “Should I be moved to tears and thank you, Mrs. Sterling?”

Sharon blurted out, “I didn’t mean that.”

Sierra scoffed, “Who do you think you are? And how dare the Sterling family say that? Back then, I wanted your love, but you wouldn’t even glance at me. Now I don’t care anymore.

“You regret it and keep giving me the stuff I no longer want. Mrs. Sterling, don’t you know how disgusting that is?”

Hearing that the once pure family bond was labeled disgusting, Sharon didn’t know how to respond.

It was only now that she realized just how disappointed Sierra had become in them over these few months.

Sharon’s eyes were bloodshot, full of pain. She didn’t know how to get Sierra to forgive them, and inside, she felt nothing but fear.

“Sierra, I understand that you hate me,” Sharon said, taking a deep breath. She was determined to win her daughter back. “From now on, I’ll prove to you just how much I want you back home.”

Sharon knew she was unwelcome, so she turned to leave.

However, Sierra called out to stop her.

Sharon’s eyes brightened, and she turned around right away.

Chapter 136

Sierra just said coldly, “No need to prove anything to me. Stay as far away from me as you can. I’ve got way too much to do to waste time on you.”

Sophie knew she shouldn’t butt into Sierra’s family mess, but she couldn’t hold back anymore. “Sierra is right. I don’t normally hit women, but Mrs. Sterling, if I see you again, I won’t hold back.”

Sharon was stunned.

Sophie nodded, looking serious. “Try me.”

It was only later that Sharon realized who Sophie really was, and the rage nearly overwhelmed her.

Sharon broke down in tears.

Sophie clicked her tongue, looking totally fed up. She thought, ‘Seriously? She’s even more of a crybaby than Finn’

“Sierra.” Just then, a man and a woman burst out of a luxury car; it was Shawn and Natalie.

Shawn looked a bit off, but way more friendly than before. When he saw how much more haggard Sierra was, he felt a pang in his chest, and this unfamiliar ache made him frown.

He asked, “Sierra, what do we have to do for you to forgive us?”

“Just go to hell,” Sierra said coldly.

Shawn froze, thinking he must have misheard. “What did you say?”

Sierra repeated, “I said I want you all dead. Only then will I stop hating every one of you.”

Shawn trembled all over. He wasn’t angry; he just knew, looking into Sierra’s calm, composed eyes, that she meant it.

However, before Shawn could get a word in, Natalie, equally gaunt, crumpled to the floor, tears everywhere. “Sierra, I’m sorry. I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll die now. I ruined your family. I-”

As Natalie spoke, her voice faded to a whisper, and she snuck a glance at the Sterlings, desperately hoping for some kind of

reaction.

However, to her disappointment, there wasn’t a trace of anger in their eyes, not even a shred of pity.

Natalie felt an inexplicable panic rising within her.

Ever since Sharon had suggested she move out two weeks ago, everything had slipped from her control.

She used to have the Sterlings and Sierra eating out of her hand, but after Sierra left, the whole game flipped on her.

Natalie’s eyes brimmed with tears. She was about to speak again when Sierra raised her hand and slapped her across the face at lightning speed.

For a moment, Natalie was completely stunned, but then a surge of joy rushed through her heart. She thought, ‘Sierra just snapped and hit me. Now everyone will turn against her again!

She forced herself to endure the sharp, prickling pain on her fade, putting on her best act.

Sierra snapped, “Go home and pull whatever trick you want. Don’t show up in my zoo again.”

Natalie clutched her face, biting her lips and trying not to cry, looking absolutely crushed.

Shawn couldn’t help feeling sad.

Chapter 136

Everyone was having a rough time. After the whole thing blew up online and he admitted Natalie was his sister, people dragged him hard. All his business dealings had been halted, and he had paid a huge sum in compensation.

If this had happened before, he would have totally hated Sierra for bringing all this mess into his life, but scrolling through his comment section and reading what people were saying, he couldn’t deny he’d screwed up before.

He was the one who threw Sierra under the bus and made her a lightning rod for online hate.

Therefore, when Shawn saw Natalie get slapped, he just felt sad. He didn’t stop or yell at Sierra.

Ryan watched the whole scene play out like some cheap drama and couldn’t help but sneer. “Spare us crocodile tears. If you really wanted to apologize, why didn’t you do it earlier?”

He thought, ‘It’s too late for the Sterlings to apologize.’

A sudden clap rang out from the side, sharp and unexpected. Everyone turned to look.

Elliot got out of a bright orange McLaren Senna, looking sharp in a black suit. Behind him was a smooth, classy Cayenne.

Leonard and Vivian got out of the car.

Vivian shot Elliot a warning glance as he kept clapping.

Elliot instantly switched on his bossy vibes, but his words dripped with sarcasm. That guy is right. I can’t agree more.

“Where were you when things got out of control? Now that you know you’re wrong, why not decisively throw the impostor out and make her leave as far as possible?”

As he kept talking, Elliot’s goofy energy came out. “Are the Sterlings just waiting for Sierra to keep getting stuck in the middle, or hoping she’ll get up at five every morning to cook you breakfast?”

Vivian just stood there, speechless. She thought, ‘Shut up, you fool. Your accent sounds hilarious.’

Elliot was totally clueless, shooting Shawn a cocky, challenging look.

Shawn frowned.

Elliot might not grab the spotlight as his brother did in high society, but his jewelry company was a world-class luxury brand. He once tried to compete with Natalie for a big opportunity, but Sierra beat him to the punch and snatched it away.

Shawn realized that Elliot might be even harder to deal with than Leonard.

Sharon and Shawn just stood there, saying nothing.

The moment Natalie saw Elliot, something seemed to dawn on her; her face went ghostly pale.

Elliot stared right at Natalie, like he’d only just noticed her, and smirked. “Well, look who’s here. The imposter. Why are you such a mess?”

Natalie blushed angrily, her heart racing.

Elliot’s expression suddenly darkened. He slammed Natalie’s head into the ground. “Since you know you were wrong, how can you just cry without doing anything? That isn’t sincere enough.”

With that, Elliot grabbed Natalie’s head and slammed it down hard, then glanced at Sierra like he was showing off.

Sierra just looked at him, thinking, ‘Honestly, Elliot looks exactly like a little boy begging for my praise.
