Chapter 138

Chapter 138

On her way back to the staff dormitory at the WonderWild Zoo, Sierra passed by Swan Lake and saw a toad waiting inside.

Just then, the zookeeper was holding a tool, pinching the toad’s head, and tossing it out of the zoo’s greenery.

The toad croaked, “Ma’am, please let me in to see Feather. It’s so beautiful. I’d stay with it forever.”

The zookeeper couldn’t understand the toad, so she just spoke out loud, “This is the eighth time you’ve bothered the swans this month.

“Last time, you almost got eaten by them, and now you’re back again. If I hadn’t caught you early, you’d be dead by now.”

The toad started crying even harder. “Feather was giving me a kiss, not trying to bite me. Can’t you see?

“I don’t need your help. Every single time I finally muster up the guts to confess to Feather, you snatch me up with those tools and toss me out. Do you even know how tough it is for me to sneak in here?”

The toad rambled on endlessly about her “abuse”.

However, the zookeeper couldn’t understand a word. Seeing the toad making such a scene, she worried it might hurt itself, so she just nudged it gently with her foot, booting it straight into the bushes.

The toad burst into tears, wobbling on its webbed feet as it tried to stand, staring longingly at Feather inside the glass enclosure.

Sierra glanced over, and her lips twitched. She thought, ‘Hold on, isn’t Feather it keeps obsessing over actually a male swan?’

With their work coming to a halt, things got a lot more relaxed for everyone for a while.

Henry, worried Sierra might face retaliation, asked her to stick around for a while.

Sierra didn’t have anywhere she needed to be anyway, so she just started streaming daily.

Even though Henry and Thomas had gone all out to secure sponsorships for her, and Elliot had even promised to make monthly donations when he brought her back, Sierra still felt the pressure.

As long as it didn’t affect their health, Sierra wanted her animals to be adorably plump and happy. While other zoos fed one chicken, her animals got two.

Just thinking about it fired Sierra up; she launched her stream, ready to rake in some cash.

As soon as the livestream began, the top viewer, always online, sent a hundred online gifts.

Sierra grinned. “Big thanks to my biggest supporter, Sexy Cockroach Queen, for sending a hundred gifts.”

Once someone sent gifts, the livestream was automatically boosted by the system. Even those initially uninterested paused to watch as gifts flashed across the screen.

When they saw Sierra livestreaming the animals in the park, especially Quickie, who kept performing a mating dance for the crow, only to get beaten up, the chat exploded with laughter.

[Isn’t that Quickie? I’ve seen it before. Usually, it’s yelling at others. Now it’s doing a mating dance for another bird. That’s crazy.]

[Looks like Quickie really can’t stand the bird, but watching Quickie stubbornly keep dancing is just too funny.]

[Sierra said Quickie was bullying Snowy, the crow, but Snowy totally smacked it down and beat it up. Sierra made Quickie apologize, but its apology dance looked like a mating dance to Snowy.]

[This zoo is kind of fun. Why can’t I seem to find tickets online?]

Sierra saw the comment and quickly said, “The zoo isn’t open to the public yet. Just follow me, and you’ll get all the updates. We’re planning to open next month.”

Everyone in the chat went wild.

They’d been begging for the zoo to open every day, but the zoo always said the animals came first, so there was no rush at

all.

And now, out of the blue, it was finally happening, and everyone was ready to camp out at the gates tomorrow.

[Oh, it’s finally happening. You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting.]

[An old fan here. I started following you when Angel was viral.]

[I started watching because of Milo. Sierra hasn’t visited Milo in ages. Can you take us to see him?]

Seeing the comments, Sierra immediately headed over to the Lion’s Den.

The Lion’s Den was huge, given the lions’ need for exercise. Artificial hills and rocks dotted the area, with every kind of tree and lawn imaginable.

Milo was chilling with the two limping wolves.

Even with Sierra checking in on the System every day, it had still been over a month since she’d actually gone to see Milo and the limping wolves in person.

As soon as Sierra reached the entrance, she heard Milo’s sincere voice. “Dad, this chicken leg is so tasty.”

One of the limping wolves replied, “Good boy, the other parts of it are delicious, too. I saved it just for you. Eat up quick before they find out.”

Sierra stopped in her tracks and peeked in from outside.

Neither the limping wolves nor Milo had noticed her yet.

Milo had grown a third bigger than before. Its head was at least the size of six adult palms, and its belly was round and plump, full of solid flesh.

The limping wolves seemed genuinely worried that Milo might go hungry, so they ended up giving him all their extra

treats.

Milo kept calling them “Dad” with every bite, and the two limping wolves were totally smitten, practically under his spell.

They thought, ‘Oh, my sweet little boy. We love you!

One of the limping wolves nudged a fresh piece of beef over to Milo. “Milo, didn’t you say you wanted to lose some weight? Try some beef. It’ll help you get healthier.”

Sierra thought, ‘Seriously? The zookeeper must have been yelling about dieting every day, and the limping wolves apparently took note.

Just then, one of the limping wolves brought over a big apple. “Son, have some fruit after your meal.”

Even without Sierra spelling it out, everyone got the picture.

[Maybe we should Stop spoiling Milo so much. He eats too much.]

[His wolf fathers are just too soft on him. They always hand over their own food to Milo.]

[Milo is totally spoiled.]

[The zoo is treating Milo like he’s the dearest baby.]

Instead of joining in the fun, Sierra frowned as she read the comments. She thought, ‘Looks like I need to separate Milo from his wolf dads for a while.

Sierra didn’t care how much he ate or how chubby Milo got. She was just worried it might get sick from getting chubby so fast.

Sierra couldn’t help but feel guilty; she hadn’t been giving Milo enough attention lately.

With her phone in hand, she walked into the zoo.

Milo was chomping down on the beef, thinking to himself, ‘Man, this beef is so tender.

However, the next second, he caught a whiff of Sierra’s unique scent.

Milo and the limping wolves hurriedly got up from the ground, their round bellies dragging against the dirt as they stood.

Sierra was pissed. She thought, ‘Just look at that belly. He’s been eating way too much. No wild animal should ever get this chubby.’

“Milo,” Sierra yelled. “Didn’t you say you would start dieting last month?”

Milo tucked its tail between its legs, looking totally ashamed. It wanted to say the food here was just too good and that every bite was pure happiness.

However, when it saw that Sierra was actually upset, Milo dropped its head. “I couldn’t help it. And if I skip a meal, I get so hungry that I nearly faint.”

Sierra gave its chubby lion head a poke. “Nice try, Milo, but no more excuses. Listen up, starting tomorrow, you’re going into survival training, and you’ve got one month to drop 11 pounds. Otherwise-”

Sierra snorted, her tone downright threatening. “You’ll never get to see your beloved wolf dads again, and I’ll be off-limits,

too.”

Milo’s eyes went wide with shock, and it instantly tried to butter her up, sticking out its tongue and slobbering all over Sierra’s face.

However, Milo forgot that its tongue was all rough and scratchy, so Sierra’s face burned from the lick. She gave its head a playful smack.

“I mean it,” she said.

The two limping wolves instantly pinned their cars back and tucked their tails, not daring to utter a single word.

Not wanting to be separated from Milo, one of the limping wolves quickly blurted out, “Trust us, Sierra. We’ll make sure Milo drops those 11 pounds this month.”

Then both wolves turned to Milo, looking serious. “Milo, starting tomorrow, no more protein snacks or juicy apples. And from now on, you have to run ten laps around the Lion’s Den every morning before you get breakfast.

“If you fail to lose weight, you’ll never get to see us again.”

They were dead set on working Milo to the bone. There was no way they were letting anything come between them and their precious boy.

Milo looked from the wolves to Sierra, feeling like his whole world was crashing down.
