Chapter 192 Blackmail

Chapter 192 Blackmail

The host felt a chill run down his spine when he heard that.

He had no choice but to send someone backstage to calm Sierra down, while he kept apologizing to the audience, earnestly assuring everyone that what happened today was just an accident, and even promising a full refund for their tickets.

He then firmly stated that the staff’s mishandling would be dealt with strictly. His genuine attitude finally won the audience

over.

After that, all the circus staff started tidying up the place and ushering everyone out.

The host sat in his chair, shaking like a leaf, bowing over and over as he apologized.

But these Hustralians were clearly a force to be reckoned with.

The host’s mouth tasted as bitter as gall.

Nothing had ever gone wrong with this part of the show before, so he didn’t know why disaster struck today. And to make matters worse, the red silk they’d used to hide the elephant’s wound had been yanked off.

The host couldn’t shake the feeling that Sierra had done it on purpose.

But when he saw Sierra’s friends hovering protectively around her, shooting him looks that could kill, the host quickly dropped that suspicion.

Besides, Sierra really was hurt.

Sierra already had a wound on her hand, and after scraping it against the ground, a few times, blood started soaking through the bandage.

Her arms, sides, and stomach were all covered in scratches and bruises, too.

“It was your trainer who set the elephant off. I saw it myself. The trainer went at the elephant with a knife, and that’s why the elephant tossed my friend,” Sophie snapped, her voice icy and uncompromising.

“Your circus needs to own up to this mess, no excuses,” she added.

“Your

The host, who doubled as the circus owner, started sweating bullets as soon as Sophie finished speaking. Afterward, he sent people to hunt for the knife the trainer had dropped, but it was nowhere to be found.

He guessed someone must’ve snatched it, or maybe it got lost in some crevice backstage.

Knowing he was in the wrong, the owner could only keep apologizing.

As long as money could settle things, it wasn’t really a problem.

But what really kept him up at night was the thought that someone might have filmed the whole mess. If the military caught wind of it, he’d be totally screwed.

With that in mind, the owner groveled, “It’s our fault. We’ll get someone to take your friend to the hospital right away, and we’ll cover all the medical bills.”

Timothy rolled his eyes. “What. You want us to split the bill with your circus or something?”

If the owner knew what a troll was, he would’ve called Timothy one right then and there.

Getting roasted like that, all he could do was force a smile and keep his mouth shut.

Thankfully, Sierra didn’t make things harder and just accepted his offer, letting the owner breathe a huge sigh of relief.

But right then, Sierra suddenly spoke up. “I saw the scars on the elephant. They’re exactly the same as the ones that curved knife made today, the one your trainer was holding when I got thrown.”

The owner was shocked.

Sierra’s eyes were cold and sharp as she stared him down, her voice dripping with menace. “Guess what would happen to your circus if I went to the authorities with this?”

His heart sank all over again. He gave a dark, twisted chuckle. He’d seriously underestimated this Hustralian girl.

By saying it straight to his face, she made it ob Successfully unlocked!pitch to the authorities. What she wanted was

hush money, plain and simple.

“Sierra, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” the owner said, feigning ignorance.

Sierra arched an eyebrow, her tone laced with impatience. “How dull. You really want me to lay it all out for you?”

The owner frowned and stepped closer. “Sierra, know when to quit while you’re ahead. You fell off the elephant today, and that’s on us.

“So, besides covering your medical bills, I’m willing to personally compensate you with 300 thousand dollars.”

Sierra’s eyes lit up. “A million, okay?”

The owner was speechless. ‘Typical, Hustralians are never satisfied!’ he thought.

The owner growled, his voice low and angry, “Don’t push your luck!”

Sierra just gave a lazy nod, flashed her wounded hand, and said, “I want dollars.”

Before the owner could say anything, Sierra pressed on. “By the way, I’ve really taken a liking to Seya. Why don’t you throw it in as part of the deal?

“Don’t worry about the shipping. I’ll sort that out myself. That a-million dollars you’re offering is more than enough for everything.”

The owner was speechless. ‘Unbelievable. How shameless can this woman get?’ he thought.

Seeing the owner looking like he was about to explode, Sierra just shrugged. “Hey, it’s up to you. I’m not going to twist your

arm.

“But you know, a bunch of people filmed me falling today, and I’m actually kind of a big deal online back in Hustralia. Go ahead and search me up. My reach is no joke.”

Sierra said, “So if reporters come asking and I get my money, I’ll just say I freaked out and fell, nothing to do with your circus at all. But if I don’t get paid?

“Well, who knows what I might accidentally spill about your animals, or those scars I saw on Seya? What if I just let something slip during an interview, huh?”

The owner’s face was turning blue with rage. But Sierra just brushed it off like it was nothing.

Sierra continued, “Oh, and you know, loads of Hustralians come to Kenland every year, right? What if this whole circus fiasco scares them off? Think the government might come banging on your door then?”

Sierra had struck right at the owner’s biggest fear. His face instantly darkened, a storm cloud of worry and anger gathering as he glared at Sierra.

Sierra met his killer stare head-on, totally unfazed.

“What, you thinking about offing all of us or something?” Sierra rolled her eyes, not scared in the slightest.

“Didn’t I tell you? There are loads of Hustralians traveling here, and I’m a pretty famous influencer. If something happens to me, who do you think they’ll suspect first? You, obviously, right?” she added.

The owner was speechless.

Sierra’s words were like a cold shower, instantly cooling him off. Any wild thoughts about shutting them up for good disappeared right then and there.

The owner took a deep breath. “A million dollars is really too much for our circus. I’ll have to run it by the higher-ups before I can say yes.”

‘The higher-ups?’ Sierra wondered, arching an eyebrow. ‘Is he talking about Charles, or is there someone else pulling the strings?’

Sierra raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Whatever, sir. I’ll just chill here and wait. It’s only a million. I bet you’ll say yes.

“I mean, these animals aren’t exactly legal, are they? If the authorities swoop in and take them all, you’ll be out way more than that, right?”

The owner let out a cold snort and stormed out.

After the owner stormed out, the room fell into a heavy silence.

But Sophie couldn’t help herself, seeing Sierra’s arm all red and swollen, she said, “Sierra, lift your arm. Let me see if you messed up any bones.”

Sierra did as she was told and raised her arm, but just as she was about to move it around, Sophie stopped her. “Don’t go waving it around if you’re hurt,” Sophie said, her gaze steady as she gently felt along Sierra’s arm, inch by inch. When Sophie realized there weren’t any broken bones, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Sophie said with a hint of reproach, “Sierra, you were way too reckless today. The elephant’s back is so high. What if something really bad happened when you fell?”

Sierra glanced at the security camera in the corner and gave a little chuckle. “Seriously, I didn’t do it on purpose. When I saw that trainer holding a knife, I got so freaked out that I just fell right off Seya.”

Truth was, Seya got a bit too restless and lifted its rear, and Sierra slipped off just like losing her grip on a swing; out she went in a flash.

Sierra touched her face. “At least my face is fine. And hey, maybe we’ll get lucky and score a million out of this mess.”

Sophie wasn’t sure if Sierra was joking or actually serious. So she just dropped it.

Just then, there was a knock at the circus office door. Everyone snapped to attention, instantly on high alert.
