Chapter 200 Payton Doesn’t Feel Safe
Sierra noticed that Payton and Solomon were finally minding their own business, so she went back into the kitchen.
Whipping up some dog food for Payton was a breeze, but Solomon had such a huge appetite that cooking for it was a real chore.
When Sierra came out again, Payton and Solomon were sitting at opposite ends of the room.
Solomon was practically drooling over the remote in Payton’s paws, while Payton had it stashed firmly under its butt, giving off a vibe that it would never let Solomon near it again.
Sierra came out with their dinner and called out, “Dinner’s ready.”
Payton was the first to dash over.
But when it looked up, it saw that Solomon’s plate had at least ten times more meat than its own.
Payton whined, sounding all pitiful, “Sierra, you’re totally playing favorites.”
Sierra could only sigh, feeling helpless.
She knew she hadn’t been spending much time with Payton lately, and it was really getting to it. Payton didn’t know what else to do, so it was just trying to get her attention in its own way.
Sierra crouched down and patiently explained, “How am I playing favorites?
“Just look at your bowl, you’ve got duck rumps and snacks you never get on a normal day. Did you ever get these treats when you messed up before?”
The duck rumps came from a local roast duck shop.
Lately, as the zoo kept getting more popular, more and more shops started popping up outside.
One of the duck shops was doing booming business.
Payton, the head of security, would often ditch its post and go stake out the duck shop.
Payton was a real looker, way better looking and smarter than one’s average husky.
ouldn’t
It had somehow picked up the “lucky paw” trick from one of the other animals at the zoo, and the shop owner just couldn’t get enough of it.
Every time Payton showed up, it would score a duck rump, and sometimes even a whole duck. Its tear stains had been getting more obvious lately.
So after Sierra talked to the owner, Payton didn’t get duck treats as much.
But now, out of the blue, it got a duck rump, and Payton was absolutely thrilled.
He instantly perked up and shot Solomon a smug look. “See? Sierra got me a duck butt. I’ve got one, and you don’t!”
With that, Payton dug in, savoring every bite.
Solomon just rolled its eyes. “What’s so great about duck, anyway?”
There are wild ducks all over the grasslands. He never wants to eat that stuff?
City dogs and country lions just didn’t eat the same stuff.
Veal was still way better.
Payton and Solomon ate at about the same speed. Solomon took its time, mostly because its mouth was huge.
While Payton scarfed its food down, partly to show off its duck rump and make Solomon jealous, and partly because it was worried Solomon would finish its own and come after its.
But thanks to this little rivalry, Payton and Solomon somehow found a balance. Even if Payton was the only one holding a grudge, they actually got along pretty well after that.
Sierra just had a quick piece of bread and jumped straight into her livestream.
She’d put up the link on Twitter ahead of time, and started streaming five minutes before the scheduled time.
Within seconds of going live, viewers started flooding in.
As usual, Sierra greeted her viewers, “Hi everyone, good evening! Tonight, I’m going to pick ten of you pet parents to help solve your fur babies’ problems.”
She quickly opened up the call-in session.
Successfully unlocked!
But this time, everyone’s attention was somewhere else. Nobody really cared about joining in.

Chapter 200 Payton Doesn’t Feel Safe
On screen, viewers saw Sierra with a lion sprawled on one side and a dog lounging on the other.
Sierra’s reputation as a total dog maid had already gone viral all over the internet, so pretty much everyone recognized Payton.
Solomon was the latest animal influencer, so of course, most people knew it too.
But the real question was why on earth Solomon was chilling at Sierra’s place.
[Sierra, pretty sure Solomon’s a lion, not a cat, right?]
Sierra saw the comment and couldn’t resist glancing over at Solomon.
When Solomon noticed Sierra looking its way, it cocked its head, plopped its massive head on her shoulder, and stared wide-eyed at the screen.
Solomon couldn’t read a word, so all the camera showed was Sierra’s pretty face and its regal frame.
Solomon was totally baffled. Why were humans so hyped just talking to that metal box?
“Roar?”
“Hey, Sierra, is this that livestream thing you always do?”
Sierra couldn’t help but laugh. She gave Payton and Solomon a friendly pat on the head and said, “Payton, Solomon, say hi to everyone online.”
They both barked.
Solomon really tried to make its voice sound cute and puppy-like, but all that came out was its usual deep, rugged lion roar.
The chat was full of people cracking up at Solomon.
[LOL, is Solomon trying to act all cute like a sweet girl? Too bad he totally failed at pulling off the cute voice!]
[Solly, voice acting is just not your thing!]
Lately, everyone’s been unearthing all kinds of gossip about Solomon.
After Solomon blew up online, people started sharing old videos and doing deep dives into its past.
Back when it was in the circus, it was always getting into trouble. Every time it tried to jump through a flaming hoop, it would knock it over and nearly set the whole place on fire more than once.
Then, when he got to Primal Pines, Solomon really started acting like he owned the place,
It used to have its own pride, but whenever a fight broke out, all the other male lions would charge into battle, while Solomon would scramble around and hide behind the lionesses.
Eventually, Solomon ended up as a stray lion.
But Solomon wasn’t just some slacker. It was a real survivor. Not only did it manage to stay alive as a stray, but it could even solo an Afrino buffalo. It has got some real chops.
Solomon wasn’t really the fighting type. If someone came after it, it would take off running. If it couldn’t outrun them, it would smack them down and keep running anyway.
That was how it managed to scrape by all this time, eventually switching countries and landing a cushy gig at the zoo.
Solomon had no idea its whole backstory had been exposed online.
Sierra decided to spare it some embarrassment and didn’t mention any of it.
But when she saw all the memes calling it Solomon the Runner, Sierra couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
But Sierra quickly got serious. “I’ve spent a long time with Solomon out on the grasslands. I always say animals are way smarter than people think. They can even understand some of what we say.
“But they’ve got their own space and way of living, and honestly, I don’t think it’s cool for people to just walk up and try to pet a wild animal.”.
Sure, like a wild animal would just let one walk up and pet it.
But Sierra, sitting there with a dog on one side and a lion on the other, had everyone in the chat so jealous that they were practically drooling all over their keyboards.
Sierra hyped up Payton and Solomon for the viewers, then moved on from the chit-chat.
She spun the wheel and randomly picked a viewer with the username WreckMe.
On screen was a slim, handsome guy with sharp features, waving at the camera and saying hi to Sierra and everyone watching.

[Whoa, it’s WreckMe the legend!]
[WreckMe finally made it onto the stream! He’s always hanging out in Sierra’s chat.]
[Bet WreckMe wants Sierra to check out his dog. Honestly, I’m curious too, its pup seems super sweet most of the time, but then out of nowhere, it just goes full beast mode on people.]
[Nah, it only goes after WreckMe.]
Sierra glanced at the chat and quickly realized WreckMe was a total legend in the esports scene.
And get this, he got into gaming for the wildest reason. He had so many dogs at home that his 9-to-5 job just couldn’t keep up with feeding them all.
So when he saw a team was recruiting, he figured, ‘Why not give it a shot?’ Next thing he knew, he breezed through the tryouts, made it to the finals, and somehow ended up winning the world championship.
WreckMe’s account had a whopping five million followers.
Sierra asked, “WreckMe, what do you want to say to your pet?”
WreckMe was buzzing with excitement to finally get through to Sierra. He blurted out, “I can’t explain this in just a couple of sentences. Hang on, let me show you what I mean!”
With that, he adjusted the camera.
On the couch was a goofy little dog with oversized floppy ears.
WreckMe cleared his throat, locked eyes with the camera, and said in a low, dramatic voice, “Sierra, come here and mess me up!”
The scruffy little dog with big floppy ears leapt off the couch, baring its teeth and charging straight at him.
