Chapter 214 Stirring Up Trouble
On the way back, Sierra chartered a whole plane just to fly the male white tiger and his cub to WonderWild Zoo.
They arrived in Amberty on a bright, sunny morning.
The tigers were way too big to squeeze into the Mercedes business van waiting at the airport.
So, Sierra had the zoo’s animal transport truck come early to pick up the two tigers and take them straight to the zoo.
The white tiger asked curiously, “Can’t I ride in your car?”
Sierra just stood there, at a loss for words.
She thought, ‘If the white tiger actually got in, those tires would be squashed flat in no time.’
Back at WonderWild Zoo, after settling the white tiger and his cub, Sierra went to pick up Payton.
As soon as Payton saw Sierra, he started ranting, “Sierra, you said you’d take me on missions with you! But you only did it once, and that time you dumped me at the police station for them to babysit me.
“And then the police dog there totally roasted me, said I looked like a complete idiot!”
Sierra was speechless.
It wasn’t that Sierra forgot. It’s just that taking Payton along always turned things into a wild mess.
Plus, the Greenridge Mountains were too dangerous.
“Payton, it’s not that I don’t want you to come. I’m just looking out for you,” Sierra said.
Payton shot her a sideways look, with a face that said, “Let’s see you wriggle out of this one.”
Sierra kept laying it on thick. She said, “You’re the head of security now. WonderWild Zoo would be lost without you. If you left, the whole place would go off the rails.”
Payton’s ears twitched.

Seeing Payton start to calm down, Sierra continued, “Plus, in the Greenridge Mountains, the snow’s so deep it comes up to my thighs. Do you even reach that high?”
Payton glanced at the spot Sierra was pointing to.
Payton
His eyes went wide. He exclaimed, “That deep? I’d be buried alive.”
Sierra nodded and said, “Exactly. Otherwise, I would’ve taken you with me already!”
After hearing that, Payton couldn’t stay mad anymore.
But then he thought of something else. He pressed, “Then why didn’t you take me when you went overseas?”
Sierra blinked and said, “Dogs don’t have passports.”
Payton shot back, “But I’m a foreign breed!”
Sebastian clicked her tongue.
Realizing Payton wasn’t buying her excuses, Sierra just picked him up and said, “Foreign breed or not, you’re a Hustralian dog now. Anyway, I’m wiped out. I need some sleep.”
Payton immediately clammed up when he heard Sierra was tired, not daring to say another word.
Back in Sierra’s room, Sierra and Payton crashed onto the bed together. Surrounded by Payton’s familiar scent, Sierra relaxed instantly and drifted off to sleep.
Payton sprawled out next to her, staring at Sierra with those icy blue eyes, wide open and unblinking.
Then he rested his head on Sierra’s wrist, snuggling up like a baby, completely content, and closed his eyes.
Payton thought, ‘Sierra didn’t bring me along because she’s just too busy and worried she wouldn’t be able to take care of me.’
Payton knew, but he wasn’t about to say it out loud.
It thought, ‘I’ll love Sierra for my whole life.’

Sierra woke up the next morning.
She got up and went to check on Quickie.
Successfully unlocked!
The moment Quickie spotted her, he called out, “Sierra! Where did my eight wives go?”

Quickie’s fur had finally grown back, all smooth and tidy.
Sierra kept grinding through the System’s medical encyclopedia, but for months now, her progress had been stuck at 99%. No matter what she tried, it just wouldn’t move.
Still, she was totally ready to perform surgery on Quickie now.
But finding even one wife for Quickie was already tough; eight was just impossible.
Sierra said, “Let’s put the eight-wives quest on the back burner for now. Quickie, want to try flying for real?”
Quickie didn’t get it at first.
But when he saw Sierra’s eyes land on his wings, his eyes instantly lit up.
“Sierra, you… You mean…” Quickie stammered, his voice trembling with excitement.
His tiny eyes went wide as saucers. He exclaimed, “She’s about to operate on me! I will have wings again.”
Sierra said, “Just so you know, I’ll have to shave the feathers off your wings for the surgery. You might look ugly for a while after that.”
Quickie didn’t mind at all. He replied, “Doesn’t bother me! I’m ugly for three out of four seasons anyway!”
Sierra thought to herself, ‘Guess he knows himself pretty well.’
Quickie was only ugly during his awkward feather phase. Now that his feathers had grown in, even his crooked wings were hidden under a thick layer of plumage.
With those flashy colors and a long tail, he was actually kind of cute, a real little show-off.
As for why he couldn’t find a wife, he only had his own loud mouth to blame.
Sierra made up her mind: it was time to put Quickie’s surgery at the top of her to-do list.
But just as Sierra finished scheduling Quickie’s surgery, a video was suddenly shared in the wildlife rescue team group chat.
In the video, two women bundled up in thick winter coats were speaking in accented Hustralian, making accusations against Sierra and the police.
They were Leland’s wife and his mother.
Leland’s body had been bagged and taken back by the authorities. The remains were too horrific for the family to see, but Leland’s wife insisted, and the police couldn’t stop her.
After seeing the body, Leland’s wife couldn’t take it and broke down in tears, her cries echoing through the building. But at the time, nothing blew up. Everyone sat down together with the doctor and explained the whole situation to Leland’s family.
But less than a week later, the Leland’s family suddenly flipped the script!
In the video, Leland’s wife held up her ID and called out Sierra and the local police by name. The post had already racked up over 300,000 likes.
Leland’s wife said in the video, “My husband went up the mountain to gather herbs and was brutally killed by a tiger.
“Sierra, the director of WonderWild Zoo, and the police are covering up the truth, insisting my husband was hunting and got attacked by the white tiger for revenge.
“When my father-in-law and Enoch went looking for my husband, they ran into Sierra. And when my father-in-law was attacked by a takin, Sierra just stood by and watched, didn’t lift a finger to help.”
The video lasted a full five minutes, and the whole thing sounded pretty convincing. But after watching it, Sierra just frowned hard.
Because Leland’s wife wasn’t telling the truth. She was just twisting everything to make herself look innocent! Timothy texted on the group chat: [Weren’t we getting along just fine with Leland’s wife before? Why did she suddenly change her tune?]
Sophie replied: [I just checked with the Darkmoor police. After Dustin got hit by the takin, he was rushed to the hospital but didn’t make it. They ended up owing tens of thousands in medical bills for surgery and ICU care.
[Enoch is in jail, and the white tiger killed Leland. Now Leland’s wife and his mom have no one to rely on and no income, so they probably posted that video online hoping for some financial help.]
Ethan texted: [This is really hitting the zoo hard. Mr. Monroe said ticket sales dropped by half today, and people keep buying tickets, refunding them, then buying again. It’s chaos. The server’s already crashed.]

Chapter 214 Stirring Up Trouble
Before long, the wildlife rescue team group chat exploded with over a hundred new messages.
Sierra messaged: [The white tiger and we did nothing wrong. What Leland’s wife is doing is straight-up illegal. I’ve already reported it to the police.]
Sierra wasn’t the type to just take things lying down.
Leland started all this. He hunted down the white tiger’s mate, skinned and mutilated her, and then got taken out by the white tiger in revenge. That’s just karma.
But when Enoch and Dustin rallied the villagers to go after the white tiger, that’s when they really crossed the line.
Sierra narrowed her eyes, thinking, ‘Leland’s wife and his mom are just asking for trouble. Seriously, they’re bringing disaster on themselves.
‘Pair of total morons.’
