Chapter 215 Tracking Down The Hide
Since a bunch of people had bought tickets more than once, Sierra had Ryan post an announcement immediately.
Ryan started out as a security guard, but he was so dedicated that Sierra put him in charge of the WonderWild Zoo’s social media right before the new year.
Ryan was so pissed off at all the trash talk online that he could barely hold it together.
But every time he clapped back, almost every account he used got nuked by reports: nine out of ten, gone in a flash.
Sierra came looking for Ryan. She said they’d be shutting down the zoo for a week and wanted him to really focus on posting from the WonderWild Zoo’s official account.
Ryan instantly felt the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders.
He said, “Sierra, don’t worry. I’ve got this.”
With Sierra giving such clear instructions, even if Ryan was still feeling hot-headed, he wouldn’t dare mess around or post anything reckless from the official account.
Ten minutes later, the WonderWild Zoo’s official account released an important announcement.
It explained that due to all the online chatter crashing their servers, the zoo would be closed for anywhere from seven days to half a month.
As for the official complaints filed by Leland’s wife and mother, Sierra stated she was willing to accept public oversight from Hustralian citizens and fully cooperate with any investigation.
When Ryan hit send, his hands were shaking.
He believed Sierra was not the one to blame.
He hadn’t been there when it all went down, but during his patrols, he’d seen the white tiger and its cub.
The white tiger had lost a leg and just had another surgery yesterday, and the cub looked like a walking skeleton. The keepers had to watch it 24/7.
Ryan just felt so bad for them, and yet the haters online were still going after Sierra and the white tiger.
Using the only account that hadn’t been reported yet, Ryan jumped into the comment section where Sierra was getting roasted and fired back.
He commented: [Do you guys even get it? Leland’s wife is obviously making stuff/up! And come on, who actually believes Leland was out picking herbs at 10,000 feet in the middle of winter?]
But it didn’t take long before Ryan was getting roasted again.
The comment section blew up with people calling him Sierra’s brainless fanboy, even saying stuff like, “Watch out, Leland will haunt you even after he’s dead!”
Ryan didn’t hesitate to fire back.
He texted: [Yeah, I’m Sierra’s obsessed fan. So what? Honestly, I wish Leland would come for me. I’d love to go head-to- head and see who’s actually getting blamed for nothing!]
WonderWild Zoo was pulling in enough cash every day to keep the whole place running.
By shutting down for a week, Sierra would be out millions, easy.
But Sierra wasn’t fazed at all. After everything blew up, she and the wildlife rescue team went straight to the police station in Amberty.
Once they laid out the situation, they teamed up with the officers handling the case from Amberty and headed off to Darkmoor.
The local police were already swamped, barely keeping up with everything.
On the surface, this looked like an easy problem to solve, but actually putting it into action was a whole different story.
Everyone knew Leland’s wife was lying, but the real problem was that the white tiger really did kill Leland, even if there was a reason for it. Online, people were all about that “if you’re not one of us, you’re the enemy” mentality.
If Sierra tried to save the white tiger, most people online would totally lose it.
After listening to the cops break it all down, Si Successfully unlocked! hed, “Did it ever occur to you guys to just arrest
Leland’s wife?”
That one line made the whole room go silent. Everyone was caught off guard.

One of the officers said, “We tracked down Leland’s wife right away, but you know, the whole white tiger revenge thing just sounds totally unbelievable, like something out of a fantasy novel.
“So when she claimed Leland was out picking herbs in the mountains, we can’t really refute her story.”
Sierra said, “Check for animal pelts.”
“What?” an officer blurted out.
Sierra glanced at the cops and explained, “Leland’s family still keeps up their old hunting habits. Why else would they have those ancient hunting rifles lying around?
“If you search their house top to bottom, you might just dig up something that’ll blow this case wide open.”
The cop looked frustrated. He said, “Yeah, we already thought of that. We’re still searching, but honestly, we haven’t found anything.”
Sierra smirked and said, “I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
Sierra suggested tagging along with the police to Leland’s place, but on the way, she made a quick stop at a pet shop. After a quick word with the owner, she soon walked out with a black teddy dog in tow.
When they got to Leland’s house, his wife and mother were slumped on the couch, faces stormy and eyes puffy from crying.
The moment Sierra walked in, both women turned to glare at her.
Then, Leland’s mom shot up from her seat, looking like she was about to lash out.
But the cop next to her snapped, “Hey! Cut it out and stay where you are!”
Leland’s mother clutched her chest with a dramatic gasp. She whined, “You cops are bullying me. I’m going to report you online! You’ve framed my son, and now you’re tearing my house apart! I won’t let you get away with this!”
The cop, who’d clearly dealt with the woman more than once, just snorted, “I already gave you my badge number. If you think I’ve crossed the line, go ahead and file a complaint. And just so you know, my body cam isn’t just for decoration!”
The cop was so done with Leland’s mother, he didn’t even bother arguing anymore.
Leland’s mother’s face stiffened. She said, “You’re a police officer! How dare you talk to me like that? I have a heart condition, you know!”
“Don’t worry, ma’am. We brought your heart meds, and the ambulance is waiting downstairs. We won’t let you pass out on us again like last time,” the cop said through gritted teeth.
Last time they came to search the house, Leland’s mother clutched her chest and collapsed right there on the spot.
The cops panicked and rushed her to the hospital in their squad car.
But once they got there, it turned out she was just overweight and had some fatty liver. Her health was actually better than that of most college students.
Still, because of that incident, he and his team had to write up a 3,000-word report explaining everything.
This time, just to be safe, the cops called an ambulance ahead of time. They didn’t want any more of the woman’s theatrics.
When Leland’s mother heard that, she looked like she was about to lose it./
She started ranting, “Fine, go ahead and search! But I’m warning you, if you come up empty, I’m not letting this slide! See those cameras? Every single thing you do is on tape, and I am gonna blast it all over the internet!”
Ever since that video blew up online, Leland’s mother had been acting all bold now.
The cop couldn’t be bothered to deal with her anymore. He just gave Sierra a gentle look and asked, “Ms. Sterling, what do you want to do next?”
Sierra was holding a black toy poodle in her arms. Its curly fur made it look extra round and fluffy, and right now, it was cuddled up to Sierra like a little kid, its chubby head resting on her shoulder.
Sierra gently patted Curl’s head and whispered, “Curl, I’m really counting on you now. Everyone at the pet shop says you’re the top dog. Can you help me sniff out where they’re hiding the animal pelt?”
The black poodle gazed up at Sierra with its big, bright eyes and stuck out its pink tongue. It said, “Yep, they’re totally right! I am the most awesome pup in the whole shop!”
Sierra pulled out a handful of treats from her pocket and said, “If you sniff out the pelt, every single one of these is yours.” Curl’s eyes went wide,
It started wriggling, eager to hop down from Sierra’s arms.
With all those treats in front of him, Curl could barely contain his excitement.

It planted its long legs on the floor, gave its butt a determined wiggle, stretched out its back legs, and promised, “Sierra, just leave it to me! I’ve got this!”
Seeing that, Sierra let go of the leash.
Curl dashed into one room, then zoomed out and zipped into the next, paws tapping excitedly as he searched.
The cop standing nearby couldn’t help but smirk, his lips twitching in disbelief.
He thought, ‘Sierra really is a genius. Only she would use a teddy dog like it’s a military K9. Leave it to Sierra to come up with something like this.
‘Seriously, how did we not think of that? We could’ve just called up the base and gotten a real sniffer dog!’
Before long, Curl had finished searching every room in the house.
Leland’s mother snorted, her tone icy, “See? Only you could come up with the idea of using that ridiculous-looking teddy dog as a police dog. And now you’ve come up empty-handed. Happy now?”
But the very next second, Curl started barking his head off at Leland’s mother.
Then, without a second thought, he leapt onto the couch and began pawing and stomping all over it like crazy.
Sierra instantly’caught on and pointed at the couch. She said, “Officer, check the couch. Something’s up with it.”
In a flash, Leland’s wife and mother’s faces changed, panic written all over them.
