Chapter 217 Pip’s Happy Life

The online hype didn’t cool off, even as time went by.

Most people online figured that after the big twist, Sierra would reopen ticket sales.

But to everyone’s surprise, when Sierra said they were closing, they really closed up shop: no tickets for a whole two weeks.

Even when Sierra started a livestream, she just said the zoo was sorting things out internally.

The first thing people thought was that Sierra was let down by them.

One commented: [Sierra, I’ve been sticking up for you online! I really want to come visit. I’ve already got my ticket!]

Another commented: [Sierra, show some mercy to us out-of-town fans! We really want to check out your zoo!]

Someone commented: [I’m dying to know how Angel’s doing. Sierra, please just open up ticket sales!]

Sierra couldn’t help but feel a little helpless.

She honestly wasn’t angry, and she definitely wasn’t making things up. The zoo really was closed while they sorted things out inside.

By the third day after the announcement about hiring people with disabilities, Alex was already on it, getting everything set

In just a few days, they’d brought on more than 300 new employees with disabilities.

Not every zookeeper was on the official payroll. Some were temps who also took care of the animals, though their pay was slightly lower than that of the full-time staff.

After meeting the zoo’s requirements, more than a dozen people with disabilities were hired as animal keepers.

The rest were assigned to jobs like managing mobility scooters, checking tickets, or working in the themed café.

Sierra used this downtime to give all the new staff some thorough training.

Once Sierra explained what was going on, the fans online finally caught on.

Sure enough, on the sixteenth day of the closure, the zoo started selling tickets again.

All the tickets sold out in just half an hour!

When Thomas saw those insane numbers, his heart skipped a beat.

Sierra was buried in work every day. Quickie was scheduled for surgery in the next few days, and the white tiger’s injury was healing up really well. Once its leg was fully healed, Sierra would fit it with a prosthetic.

Whether it would go back to the forest someday, that would be the white tiger’s choice.

Quickie’s surgery went super smoothly. Sierra spent a full eight hours working on it, and by the end, Quickie’s twisted wing was finally back to its normal shape.

The part that really had Sierra in stitches was that, for the operation, she had to completely shave off all the feathers on one side of Quickie’s body.

Honestly, no matter how she looked at Quickie, it was just hilarious.

Quickie’s wing had always been a knot in Sierra’s heart, but now that she’d finally taken care of it, she could truly relax.

With a caring touch, Sierra tied a cute bow on Quickie’s bandage before moving it to the observation room.

Slipping out of her scrubs and gloves, Sierra went back to her room to rest.

Suddenly, her phone rang: it was Thomas.

Thomas was clearly pumped. He said, “Sierra, there’s a city promo video shoot coming up, and they chose our zoo! You’re the face of the place, so make sure you’re ready for it.”

Sierra thought back for a moment, then couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous it was.

She thought, ‘With so many attractions in Amberty, it is pretty wild that my zoo actually makes the cut.’

After checking the schedule, Sierra agreed to do it.

With no rescue missions lined up lately, Sierra spent her days wandering around the zoo, checking in on how all the animals were doing.

By now, the elephant enclosure was home to quite a few elephants, all of them rescued from the Kenland Circus.

Chapter 217 Pip’s Happy Life

Every time Sierra came by to check on them, she found that all the elephants were getting along just fine.

The elephants rescued from the circus were gentle as can be. Even though they knew Pip was a different kind, they doted on him like he was their own baby.

As soon as Sierra stepped into the elephant enclosure, the elephants came trotting over, their big ears flapping with every

step.

Pip was still so tiny, and after all those injuries, he still walked a little wobbly. So he always ended up lagging behind everyone else.

Getting anxious, when the herd stopped outside the house, all eyes glued to Sierra, Pip just flopped down and squeezed his way right under the other elephants’ backsides to get through.

“Hey, guys, make some room for me!” Pip called out.

Finally, Pip managed to wriggle his way right up to the front.

Pip and Sierra stared at each other, wide-eyed.

“Sierra!” Pip called out.

He scrambled up from the ground, bounced over with pure joy, wrapped his trunk affectionately around Sierra’s hand, and began pulling her along toward his home.

The visitors around the enclosure had gotten totally used to it by now.

Every time Sierra showed up, the elephants would make a huge fuss, greeting her with all the excitement in the world.

Sierra said, “Pip, I’ve got a lot of work today, so I can’t play ball with you. Let’s play another day, okay?”

Pip immediately let go of his trunk from Sierra’s hand, tilted his head, and looked up at her, nodding obediently.

Pip thought, ‘I’m not like that raccoon next door. He’s almost an adult and still doesn’t know how to behave.

‘Sierra’s got big things to handle; she can’t just hang out with me every day.’

Pip felt like he was living the good life now.

Other elephants were massive. Pip wasn’t even a tenth their size, and he’d never seen such awesome elephants in his life!

On top of that, these elephants totally loved Pip. Whenever Sierra couldn’t play ball with him, they’d always play with him instead.

The visitors outside loved to play with Pip, too, bringing him all sorts of fruit every day.

So Pip would suck up water from the pool and blast it at the visitors, making them laugh and scream every time!

Pip thought, ‘Life at the zoo is simply awesome.’

Of course, Sierra knew all about it. She always kept an eye on Pip. But today, she had something special she needed to talk

to him about.

“Pip, you’re looking so much better now. In three months, it’ll be time for you to go back to Yondeland and be with your mom again,” Sierra said gently.

Pip had been having the time of his life these past six months, and honestly, he barely ever thought about his mom

anymore.

But when Sierra brought it up, Pip suddenly looked a little hesitant.

There was always plenty of food in the elephant enclosure. He didn’t have to struggle every day to find a place to live or search for fruit to eat, as he did with his old herd.

But it had been so long since he’d seen his mom.

Pip’s trunk drooped to the ground. One could totally tell what he was thinking just by looking at him.

Sierra smiled and said, “Pip, the wild is your real home. But if you want to stick around a bit longer, just let me know, and I’ll tell your mom you’ll be heading back next year. It’s totally fine.”

Pip shook his head.

Then he looked up at Sierra with big, hopeful eyes and said, “Sierra, life here is so comfy. My mom and aunties have never

had it this nice.

“Can you bring them all here?

“Then we could all be one big happy family again!”
