Beast Tamer's Rebirth National Treasure Edition novel Chapter 218

Chapter 218 The Interview

Sierra thought Pip’s idea was cute, but she still had to say no in the end.

Simply put, not every animal was suited for life in a zoo.

Animals were meant to roam free in the wild. No matter how great a zoo was, it couldn’t match the freedom of the wild.

Pip looked a little down and said, all pitiful, “But I’ll miss my ball at the zoo.”

Sierra gave in with a sigh and said, “When it’s time for you to leave, I’ll get you a brand new one.”

Pip’s eyes lit up, and he instantly cheered up.

Animals were pure-hearted and simple-minded. After spending so much time with them, Sierra knew just how to get along with them.

Sometimes one could let them have their way, but other times one had to discipline them.

After leaving the elephant enclosure, Sierra drove the zoo cart and visited a few more places.

Quickie was already out of the observation room. His recovery after surgery was going well, and once his bones have healed up in a few months, he’ll be ready for some training flights.

Before they knew it, the day of the interview had arrived.

Thomas was taking this interview very seriously.

WonderWild Zoo had blown up all over the internet, and everyone knew its name.

But it hadn’t quite caught on overseas yet.

So this was a great chance to change that.

Thomas selected a few representatives for the interview.

The interview team quickly arrived at the conference hall.

Sierra wore a long-sleeved white blouse with puff sleeves, a fitted black pencil skirt, and a pair of stylish high heels. She looked every bit the boss.

The director from the interview crew came over and gave Sierra a heads-up about how things would go. He said, “Ms. Sterling, you probably know the drill.

“Our reporter will ask you a few questions, mostly about what daily life is like for the animals, any risky rescues you’ve done in the wild, and your general views on animals.”

Sierra nodded.

These were softball questions, way friendlier than the ones those tabloid reporters used to throw at her back in her showbiz days.

“I’m ready,” Sierra said.

Ten minutes later, Sierra had her answers ready and was sitting on the couch in the lounge, waiting for the reporter to arrive.

Soon, the conference room door clicked open.

Sierra’s gaze landed on a pair of designer shoes sporting a luxury logo, and a sharp white suit and pants that screamed professionalism.

But when Sierra looked up, she shot to her feet in an instant.

Without hesitation, she said, “Director, I want a different reporter. If it’s her, I’m not doing this interview.”

Sierra left without another word.

The sudden turn of events left everyone in the room stunned.

Sharon’s smile froze on her face, her whole body trembling, her expression full of hurt and disbelief.

But Sierra just turned and walked out, not sparing a single glance.

By the time anyone realized what had happened, she was already gone.

Sharon quickly came to her senses and rushed out after Sierra.

The director and his team were left completely

Less than a minute later, Thomas rushed over i.

led by this site Turn of events and immediately called Thomas. Successfully unlocked!

“What happened here? Sierra’s not the kind of person to make a scene and just walk out,” Thomas said, frowning.

The director quickly filled him in on what had just happened.

Thomas glanced around the room, but didn’t see the reporter anywhere. He quickly asked, “What’s the reporter’s name?” “Sh-Sharon,” the director stammered.

Thomas’s mind exploded.

He was absolutely furious. He snapped, “What were you thinking? Don’t you do any background checks before bringing in an interviewer? You knew who Sharon was and still let her interview Sierra? If we’d known this, we never would’ve agreed to the interview.”

The director and his team were left completely stunned by Thomas’s outburst.

The director looked totally baffled.

He said, “Sorry, we really didn’t know. Is there something going on between Sharon and Sierra?” Thomas clenched his jaw and said coldly, “Sharon is Sierra’s birth mother, the one who ditched her.”

The director instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

Most of them had heard at least some rumors about Sierra’s story.

Thinking back to how furious Sierra had been, the director went white as a sheet.

He thought, ‘Now we are in serious trouble.’

Sierra turned and headed back to her staff dormitory.

On her way, her phone buzzed: it was Elliot calling.

“Sierra, you got a minute? I just got back from overseas. How about dinner tonight?” Elliot asked.

After a brief pause, he admitted honestly, was worried you’d turn me down, so I came straight to the zoo. I’m outside your staff dorm, but I don’t have a key, so I’m kind of stuck here.”

Sierra had been feeling pretty low, but hearing that, she instantly pictured Elliot in his immaculate suit, crouched awkwardly at the dorm entrance. She couldn’t help but feel her mood lighten.

Elliot added, “I even tried slipping the security guard at your dorm gate a whole carton of cigarettes, but he took them and still wouldn’t let me in. Honestly, I’m tempted to report him for taking a bribe and still refusing to do his job.”

Sierra felt her mood completely lift. She said, “Hang tight, I’m heading back right now.”

Sierra soon arrived at the dorm entrance.

Elliot wasn’t squatting on the ground. He was pressed up against the security/booth window, telling the guard to return his cigarettes if the guard wasn’t going to open the door.

And the two of them were actually bickering with each other.

As soon as Sierra arrived, both of them turned to look at her.

The security guard jumped in before Elliot could get a word out, trying to earn some brownie points. He said, “Ms. Sterling, this guy tried to bribe me for your room number. I kept all the evidence of bribery.”

Elliot’s eyes went wide. He protested, “Hey, that’s not-”

Sierra couldn’t help but laugh. She said to the guard, “Just keep the cigarettes. He’s really my friend. If he comes by again, just let him in.”

The guard realized he’d misunderstood the situation.

He turned to Elliot and said honestly, “Sorry, man. Seeing you looking all slick and handsome, I figured you were just another one of Sierra’s admirers. We get a whole crowd of those every day, and it’s a lot of pressure for us security guys.” Elliot was speechless.

He thought, ‘What the heck does he mean by ‘looking all slick and handsome’?

‘If he wants to call me good-looking, just say it. Why all the roundabout talk?’

Elliot rolled his eyes so hard.

Just then, the heavy iron gate to the dorm clanged open.

Sierra was about to take Elliot upstairs when she suddenly heard the sound of hurried, ragged breathing behind her. Sierra kept walking without even glancing back, but Elliot turned to look out of reflex.

Chapter 218 The interview

It was Sharon, coming after them.

Sharon rushed up, reaching out as if she was about to grab Sierra’s arm.

Elliot frowned, grabbed Sharon’s hand to stop her from reaching Sierra, then stepped protectively in front of Sierra, shooting Sharon a look that could kill.

Elliot raised an eyebrow and sneered, “Wait, you’re not banned from the zoo?”

Sharon’s face instantly went pale.

Sierra had actually banned her.

After Sharon got in with a ticket on the second day of the New Year, the next time she tried to buy one, she found out her whole family’s accounts had been blocked.

She couldn’t even get a ticket to the zoo anymore.

Sharon’s pale lips trembled as she said, “Sierra, I just want to talk to you. I’ll only ask the interview questions, and then I’ll leave, okay?”

Before the truth came out, Sharon would’ve thought Sierra was just making a fuss over nothing.

But now, she didn’t see it that way anymore.

She knew Sierra truly hated her.

She was really about to lose her daughter for good.

When Sierra didn’t respond, Sharon added, “I was misled before and treated you badly. I want to make it up to you. I’ve already had all my shares transferred to your name. All you have to do is sign.”

Elliot, standing protectively in front of Sierra, finally caught on.

Sharon was definitely trying to play the emotional card.

Elliot shot back, “Mrs. Sterling, Sierra doesn’t need your money. If she ever needs anything, her friends and the Patersons would give it to her, no questions asked. As for those pathetic little shares from your Sterling family, just keep them for yourselves.”

He thought, ‘Sierra doesn’t even take half the stuff I give her. And you think those pathetic little shares will buy her forgiveness? Dream on.

‘Besides, someone like Sierra won’t even look twice at that kind of thing.

‘It’s not like that’s anything special anyway.’

Elliot rolled his eyes so hard, it was a miracle they didn’t get stuck.

Sharon was totally shut down, left just staring at Sierra with desperate, pleading eyes, like she was hoping Sierra might say something to help her out.

But clearly, Sharon was just deluding herself.

Sierra used to glare at Sharon with disgust, but now she looked at Sharon like she was just another stranger.

Sierra said, “Mrs. Sterling, I was never really part of your family, and I never once called you Mom. So what makes you think you have any right to talk to me now?”

Sharon said, “You did! You did call me that. The first day you came home, Sierra, don’t you remember? You called me Mom.”

Sierra didn’t hold back at all. She shot back, “And after that? Weren’t you the one who said you were worried Natalie couldn’t handle it, so you coaxed me into calling you Mrs. Sterling instead?”
