Chapter 225 Calling Friend At 4 Am
Sierra was just giving Celia a taste of her own medicine.
She ate meat just like everyone else, and played by the rules of the world as it is.
But that didn’t mean she was okay with cruelty to living beings.
Even if that sheep was raised by humans.
After the situation was resolved, things really started to heat up.
Once Celia admitted what she had done, the employee who had been forced to kill the sheep was dragged into the drama as well.
With no other options, the employee quit and made a burner account to spill the whole story and how they really felt. As an employee, if one wanted to keep one’s job, one had to follow the boss’s orders, even if one didn’t agree with them. But wrong was wrong, no matter what.
So the employee apologized on Twitter and even posted all the behind-the-scenes footage from that day.
He wrapped up his post with: [Ms. Sterling has always been one of my favorite streamers. I couldn’t say no to what my boss told me to do, so I had to go through with it and do something I really didn’t want to.
[After it all happened, I should’ve come forward right away to clear things up for Ms. Sterling and her friends, but I didn’t. Other than saying sorry again, I honestly don’t know what else to say.]
For a moment, people online were ready to drag the employee, but after reading the post, they didn’t know how to react.
They had to admit, the employee was really down bad, too.
It was tough out there for regular folks just trying to make a living.
With the job market being so rough, if one quit out of frustration, one might be stuck jobless for who knows how long. That’ s why the employee couldn’t refuse their boss’s request.
One netizen commented: [Man, putting myself in the shoes of a regular worker is just depressing. Let’s cut them some slack.]
Another commented: [Celia deserves all the blame. People like her should just be blacklisted.]
Someone commented: [I’ve worked with Celia before. She’s got a nasty temper, is as stubborn as a mule, and you just can’t reason with her. She’s a total cancer in the industry!]
One commented: [I just saw that Celia’s been detained, and someone even filed a real-name report accusing her of being involved with the mob!]
Celia was originally supposed to be held for two weeks, but that same night, a guy went online and called her out by name.
He said Celia used to run scams and even worked with others to traffic his daughter across the border; the girl was still missing to this day.
True or not, the whole thing exploded online. Celia’s account got nuked by the short-video platform, and her team was wiped out overnight.
Sierra was still a bit baffled at how lightning-fast the platform reacted.
But when Elliot dropped by the next day, he explained, “That short-video platform? My buddy owns it. I was so mad last night I couldn’t sleep, so I called him up and told him to shut down Celia’s account.”
Sierra blinked. She asked, “Wait, four in the morning? Is your friend always grinding that hard?”
Elliot looked at her, all innocent. He said, “No clue. Every time I call someone, they’re always up. Maybe everyone just loves pulling all-nighters.”
Sierra was speechless.
She thought, ‘Honestly, if Elliot weren’t such a decent guy, he would’ve been punched out a hundred times by now.’
Elliot caught Sierra giving him a strange look, but he had no idea what she meant.
He just said, “Sierra, I came by to drop something off. My mom saw these bags at the mall yesterday and bought three. She insisted I bring one for you and one for Sophie. Anyway, I gotta jet.
“I promised my buddy I’d spar with him today.”

Sierra blinked and asked, “Wait, you mean the sewer you pull of four in the morning?”
Elliot nodded.

Sierra was quiet for a moment, then said, “Tell Vivian thanks for me. And Elliot, be careful, okay?”
When Elliot realized Sierra was genuinely worried about him, his grin spread across his whole face.
He kept grinning for a bit and said, “Sure, my buddy’s a beast in the ring, but I’ve been training since I was a kid, too. I’m no slouch myself. We usually end up in a draw, so nothing to worry about.
“Sierra, I’ll swing by again tomorrow. Gotta run!”
Elliot waved and got into his car.
But after that day, aside from Elliot constantly messaging her on WhatsApp, he never came by to see her again.
Sierra knew exactly what was up, but since Elliot kept quiet, she wasn’t about to bring it up either. She thought, ‘Gotta let the bossy, childish CEO save a little face.’
Besides, Sierra had been swamped lately.
The stray cats and dogs Sierra rescued last year were still at the zoo, and since the zoo always stocked food for them, even more strays kept showing up.
Most of the strays knew how things worked and wouldn’t run around during the day, but there were always a few who’d wander around anyway.
Sierra had already given the strays a heads-up not to freak people out, but some people were just terrified of cats and dogs, so the zoo ended up getting several complaints.
And just a few days ago, things got even messier when a stray dog bit a visitor, stirring up a whole lot of trouble.
When Sierra got the call, she could already hear a man shouting from way down the hall.
The man yelled, “This stray dog is from your zoo, so you guys have to take responsibility.
“Look at what this dog did to me! And I’ve got my kid with me! You’d better pay up, and that dog has to be killed!
“If a zoo can’t even handle basic security, I’m going straight to the authorities if you don’t sort this out!”
The man’s yelling instantly drew a huge crowd.
People packed in, forming circles several layers deep around the commotion.
Sierra finally managed to squeeze her way through, and the man who’d been bitten by the stray dog lit up when he saw her. He said, “I’m done talking to your staff. The director’s here. I want to speak to you!”
Sierra’s ears were practically ringing from the man’s loud shouting.
She hurried over and saw, sure enough, that the man’s hand and leg were both injured.
Sierra looked over at the stray dog.
“Muddy, come here,” Sierra called softly, beckoning the dog with a gentle wave.
Sierra could remember the name of just about every stray dog at the zoo.
Muddy was a neighborhood stray who’d only recently started hanging around the zoo. He was usually so timid. He was definitely not the kind of dog one’d expect to bite anyone.
Sierra crouched down and said, “Hey, didn’t I tell you not to wander around here during the day?”
Muddy tucked his tail between his legs and hung his head, looking all pitiful. It replied, “I didn’t mean it, I just wanted to take a shortcut and have some fun.”
It thought, ‘Life here is awesome. Sierra always gives us tasty food and treats, and even bathes us regularly. Why would I ever want to bite anyone?’
The man saw Sierra walk right past him to talk to the dog and totally lost it. He snapped, “What’s your attitude? You think a dog can explain itself? You need to take me to get a shot right now, and you owe me compensation!”
Sierra stood up and said, “Sir, this really is our zoo’s responsibility. I apologize, and I’ll have someone take you to get your shot right away.”
“So, how much are you going to pay me?” the man demanded.
Sierra thought, ‘Better to keep things simple.’ She said, “Just tell me what you think is fair. As long as it’s reasonable, we’ll make it right for you.”
Seeing Sierra’s attitude, the man’s confidence shot through the roof. He immediately blurted out, “30 thousand.”
Sierra blinked and asked, “What?”
She wondered if she’d heard him right. Her eyes automatically went to check the guy’s injuries.

Muddy knew better than to really sink his teeth in. The bite hurt, sure, but it wasn’t that bad.
The man shot back, “What, didn’t you just say you’d pay whatever I wanted?”
He snorted, “Your zoo’s rolling in cash, right? Don’t tell me you can’t afford it. If you can’t, then just kill the dog!”
Everyone around sucked in a breath.
They thought, ’30 thousand? For real?
‘It’s not like he lost a limb or anything. How does he even have the nerve to ask for that much?’
Finally, someone in the front row couldn’t hold back anymore. He said, “If your kid hadn’t been yanking the dog’s nipples and ears, and trying to ride it like a pony, and you hadn’t held the dog down just to please your son.
“Why would the dog have bitten you?”
Sierra’s eyes went cold in an instant as she shot the man a death glare. She asked, “You let your kid ride Muddy like a pony?”
