Chapter 242 Pip Threw A Fit

After coming back from the disaster zone, the ten elephants had some scrapes on their skin, and Sierra couldn’t help but feel sorry for them.

But the elephants themselves didn’t care at all.

Helping humans meant they got awesome rewards, and honestly, life was way better than when they were stuck in the

circus.

Back in the circus, they had to stand around for hours and go through tough training every day.

Now, a few scrapes were nothing. They didn’t even think it was a big deal.

But Pip was kind of upset.

At first, Sierra didn’t get why Pip was always glaring at her and snorting whenever it saw her.

Finally, Pip started stomping its feet, all anxious, and said, “Sierra, why didn’t you take me with you for something this important?

“Do you have any idea how jealous I am of the others getting to earn their own food?”

Sierra stood there, dumbfounded, until she finally realized what Pip meant.

The previous day, the police dropped off over 1100 pounds of sugarcane as a thank-you, and everyone got their share except Pip.

Pip had gotten a lot bigger over the past year, but it was still just a little one next to the grown-up elephants.

So when the rescue happened, Sierra didn’t even think about including the little one.

Now the elephants were having a blast munching on sugarcane every day.

Since Sierra didn’t swing by the elephant enclosure all the time, it was only natural that she forgot about Pip.

Finally, Sierra showed up at the elephant enclosure, and Pip kicked up a fuss the moment it saw her.

Sierra felt a mix of guilt and amusement. To make it up to Pip, she bought it a hundred pounds of sugarcane.

Pip munched away, chattering nonstop. “Sierra, I’ll let you off the hook this time. But next time there’s something good-or even a disaster-don’t let the goodies go to other elephants.

“I’ve known you longer than any of the others have, so you must think of me first, okay?”

Sierra gave Pip a gentle pat on the head. “Alright. In two months, you’ll be heading back to the Monva Herd.

“By then, you and your mom will have to look after yourselves, okay?”

Pip didn’t really want to leave.

After all, there was always food, drinks, and Sierra taking care of her here.

But Pip missed its mom a lot and wondered how its mom and aunts were doing.”

Pip was super conflicted.

After the disaster, WonderWild Zoo stayed closed for quite a while.

After that last heavy storm, WonderWild Zoo took some damage, but Amberty Zoo got hit even harder. Some of the animal shelters had actually collapsed, and they were still scrambling to fix things up.

Thankfully, with government funding coming in, the financial pressure eased up a lot.

By the end of May, Amberty Zoo was finally fixed. When Sierra came to bring the animals back home, she found that none of them wanted to go. They just wouldn’t budge.

All sorts of animals wailed and howled to refuse.

Their calls filled the air.

The tigers and lions were all lying flat on the ground. No way were they getting on those trucks back to Amberty Zoo. Even when their keepers came over, they just squeezed their eyes shut and pretended not to see a thing.

Some even covered their ears with their paws, Successfully unlocked ing to listen to a lecture.

In the end, Sierra had to beg and plead to anyone wine would sten, punny out every trick in the book just to finally get these big shots onto the trucks.

Once all the chaos was finally over, WonderWild Zoo was back on track.

After wrapping everything up, Sierra couldn’t help but let out a long, relieved sigh.

When Sierra first took over as zoo manager, she was riding high on confidence, thinking that with the System backing her up, everything would be a breeze.

But now she’d figured out that just counting on the System and the government wasn’t gonna cut it.

The System could hand her a zoo, sure, but keeping everything running and fixing stuff? That was all on her.

The government could throw money her way. Actually, she got more funding than any other zoo in the country and never got stuck in any paperwork.

But even with all that, this past year, she and her crew still had to tackle all kinds of headaches, big and small.

There were plenty of ups and downs along the way, but in the end, they all came out the other side safe and sound.

May had come and gone, and by June, the sun was getting downright brutal.

Quickie’s wings were fully healed, and its keeper was training it to fly. But even after two weeks of trying, the little guy just couldn’t figure it out.

One day, Sierra ‘came by to check on Quickie, and the little guy scampered right over to her.

But after a few steps, it must have figured out that flying beats running any day. It suddenly started flapping its wings and, before anyone knew it, soared straight into Sierra’s arms.

Just like that, Quickie figured out how to fly. Easy as pie.

Afterward, Timothy joked, “Forget about Quickie needing eight wives. Sierra, why don’t you just marry him? I bet he’d be over the moon.”

As soon as he finished, Ethan, who was standing nearby, smacked him. “What nonsense are you spouting? Sierra can’t be Quickie’s wife.”

Timothy rubbed the back of his head, eyes wide and innocent, and asked, “What’s wrong? Eeef, are you volunteering to be Quickie’s wife?”

Ethan gritted his teeth. “Timothy, I seriously wonder how you even managed to get your PhD.”

Timothy immediately replied, “Dude, you’re a mind reader. I almost didn’t make it through on time.”

Timothy was the clown of the team, and Ethan, as the captain, was constantly driven up the wall by him.

Life went on like this until early June.

One morning, just as Sierra was about to get out of bed, she suddenly heard a beep in her head.

The System had booted up.
