Chapter 244 Pink Dolphin
Chapter 244 Pink Dolphin
Sierra felt the boat rock violently a few times before flipping over completely. Everyone plunged into the water with a splash.
Leah had no idea just how big it was. It lifted the boat high into the air with her head.
Soon, Leah heard Grace, the orca leader, shout, realizing that it had caused trouble again.
But it was too late to fix it.
The boat flipped, and Sierra and her friends tumbled into the water one after another.
The orca pod and the dolphin crew swam over in a hurry to rescue everyone, and finally managed to get all the people safely out of the water.
Seeing that, the little humpback whale, Finn, piped up in its babyish voice, “Leah, you’re in big trouble. You’re gonna get scolded by the orca leader again.”
Leah flicked its own tail, thinking, ‘Geez, Finn. Why do you always have to say such mean things?’
Even though it was grumbling to itself, Leah had to admit Finn had a point.
Hence, she quietly swished her tail and slipped beneath the surface, planning to make a quick getaway.
But just as it was about to bolt, Grace gave it a hard shove, sending it flying,
Leah wailed, “I’m sorry, Mom. Please forgive me. Boohoo…”
When Sierra was pulled out of the water, Grace was going off on Leah. Usually so chill, Grace was whacking her daughter while yelling, “Leah, how many times do I have to tell you?
“Your skin’s thick as rubber. You can’t just mess around with humans. If anything happened to Sierra today, you can get out of my family and become a stray orca.”
Leah didn’t catch a single word its mom was saying, since its mom’s flippers kept smacking it right in the face.
Even though Leah got smacked every day, it still hurt like hell every single time.
Sierra had just surfaced and saw Leah getting smacked around. She was about to stick up for it, but before she knew it, Finn had swum over.
Finn piped up in its babyish voice, “Sierra, don’t worry. Leah gets smacked by the orca leader every single day. Its face is basically thicker now, so it’s really no big deal.”
Sierra was speechless.
“Grace, Leah’s still just a kid. She didn’t mean it. How about we just let this slide?” Sierra said with hesitation.
In the animal world, nobody cared if one smacked their kid. Yet, if Leah actually got hurt, Sierra would feel sorry for it.
Grace finally stopped and turned to Sierra, giving her a gentle look. It slowly swam over and softly rubbed its cheek against Sierra, whispering, “Leah’s my child, and so are you.”
Leah finally stopped crying her head off. It knew it had really screwed up this time.
It glanced at the boat its family had just set upright and said, “Sierra, I’m really sorry. Please don’t be mad at me, okay?”
Sierra gently patted Leah’s smooth head. “I’ll forgive you this time, but if you ever pull something like this again…”
“No. I swear it won’t happen again,” Leah blurted out, shaking its head so hard it looked like it might fall off. If it had hands, it would probably be holding up four fingers and swearing.
Sierra knew Leah was just saying that, and it would probably do it again next time, so she warned, “If you mess up again, I’ll have your mom give you another beating.”
Leah nodded cautiously in response.
But it still didn’t quite get it, so it nervously asked Finn, “Finn, is $ierra really forgiving me or not?”
Finn snorted, “Leah, you’re always saying dolphins are as dumb’ as jellyfish, but maybe you’re the real jellyfish-brain here.”
Leah gaped at it.
Finn piped up, “Of course, Sierra has forgiven you.”
Leah was this close to never speaking to Finn again After all they were like brother and sister, and Finn just called it brainless.
Successfully unlocked!
But the moment it heard Sierra had forgiven it, Lean decided it would rather look good in front of Sierra, so it let Finn’s comment slide and didn’t bother arguing with Finn anymore.

Chapter 244 Pink Dolphin
Sierra and the others hauled themselves back onto the little boat.
Harold, who had never seen anything like this before, was so spooked he yanked off his glasses and swished thern around in the seawater a couple of times.
He was about to wipe them on his clothes, but realized he was wearing a wetsuit, so he just slipped them back onto his nose and let out a long sigh of relief.
‘Man, I was this close to reunited with my late great-grandmother, Harold thought, his heart still pounding.
Harold didn’t really overthink it. Orcas were crazy smart, as if they had the brains of teenagers. Sierra had built an epic friendship with these orcas back in Elyria, so it was no wonder they were all stuck to her like glue now.
Everyone in the ocean heard Sierra’s voice, and in less than an hour, all the sea creatures she’d helped before came swimming over, hiding underwater-just hoping to spot Sierra from a distance.
Sierra started by checking the orcas’ skin, which had been ulcerated before.
After a few months, the skin on their bodies was still pretty rough and hadn’t really recovered, but the tissue inside their mouths had healed up, and they weren’t running fevers or feeling sick anymore.
But some of the dolphins weren’t doing so well.
By sunset, Sierra had been soaking in the water for ages, and she and the wildlife rescue team had spent hours checking out more than a hundred dolphins.
Before long, Sierra was frowning.
She asked, “Harold, some of these dolphins just can’t make it on their own in the ocean anymore. Why don’t you just send them to the oceanarium?”
It turned out that some of those dolphins were hit so hard by infection that they couldn’t even hunt anymore.
Yeah, nature was all about survival of the fittest, but some of these sea creatures really did deserve a shot at rescue.
Sierra waved goodbye to Grace and hopped back onto the big ship.
Harold had never worked that hard in his life. He was so wiped out, he was sweating bullets.
When Sierra questioned him, Harold instinctively pushed up his glasses and hurried to explain, “Ms. Sterling, you know how
it is. The government’s budget is just not enough, and there are so many marine creatures out there.
“The Environmental Protection Bureau isn’t just for the ocean. We have to spend money on all kinds of ecosystems. If we put everything into marine life, the other departments would never go for it.”

But Sierra wasn’t buying it. “How could there not be enough money? I’ve been sending you 12 million dollars every month for the past few months, and with government subsidies on top, that’s more than enough.”
Sierra cast Harold a side-eye, clearly skeptical.
The marine life situation Harold had shown her before didn’t add up at all now.
Harold was sweating bullets, his face all scrunched up as he tried to explain, “Ms. Sterling, our finance department keeps track of every expense. If you don’t trust me, I’ll have them show you the records when we get back.”
He then let out a heavy sigh. “Tens of millions sounds huge, but with these many sea creatures, the daily costs for meds and manpower are just crazy high.
“Split it up between all the animals, and honestly, how much does each one really get?”
Sierra’s expression softened a little at his explanation.
“Either way, what you guys showed me before doesn’t line up with what I’m seeing now…” Sierra said.
Just as she was about to keep talking, there was a commotion from the orca pod near the ship.
Grace had come back. Sierra stopped talking to Harold and rushed over to the ship’s railing.
Leah was hopping excitedly among the orcas. As soon as it saw Sierra, it yelled, “Sierra, we just spotted a pink dolphin, but it’s all caught up in something, and it’s barely hanging on.”
