Beast Tamer's Rebirth National Treasure Edition novel Chapter 267

Chapter 267

Gary looked at Sierra with pure hatred.

“It’s you!” Gary shouted, clutching his injured arm. “I’m going to kill you!”

Then he turned to his bodyguards. “Kill her first, and then finish off Bessa!”

But as soon as he finished, Sierra’s lips curled into a sly, confident smirk.

She gave Gary and Holden a condescending look from above. “Is that all you’ve got?”

Gary didn’t get it.

Sierra clicked her tongue and called out to the mercenaries and cops behind her. “Come on out, guys. Otherwise, he’ll think we’re pushovers.”

As soon as she finished, a crowd of mercenaries and eight cops suddenly appeared around Sierra.

Gary’s pupils contracted in alarm.

He moved fast, swapping the gun to his good left hand.

He jammed the gun against Bessa’s head and yelled, “Nobody move! Sierra, if you try to kill me today, this desert lion is coming to the grave with me!”

Sierra had fired just in time, so Bessa wasn’t hit. But after days on the run and that last burst of strength, the desert lion was completely spent.

Now, with its neck locked in a tight chokehold, every movement sent a wave of suffocation through it. Bessa could only sprawl on the ground, gasping for breath, a guttural, menacing rumble rising from its throat.

But Gary wasn’t fazed at all. Just as he expected, Sierra didn’t dare to make a move. Gary’s face lit up with smug satisfaction.

“Sierra, I never thought you’d actually survive, but now Bessa’s mine. Take one more step and I’ll put a bullet in its head!” Gary threatened, his voice full of smugness.

He added, “If you let me go today, I’ll let Bessa live. I promise I won’t lay a finger on it ever again. So, Sierra, how about that for a deal?”

Sierra narrowed her eyes.

Sophie whispered to Sierra, “Are we really going to just let Gary and Holden get off scot-free?”

Those two were real menaces. If they let them go now, no one knew how many more animals they’d hurt in the future.

Seeing Sierra about to speak, Gary cut her off. “Sierra, you’d better think twice. There probably aren’t even a hundred desert lions left on the planet. My life’s cheap, but Bessa’s is priceless compared to any of ours.

“If you really want me dead, then I’ll take Bessa with me to the grave. But if you want it alive, you’ll step back half a mile and let us go. Your call!”

Gary’s swagger grew with every word.

He knew Sierra had bent over backwards, pouring in money and manpower just to track down Bessa. That made Bessa the perfect bargaining chip.

As long as he kept Bessa as his ticket out, he was sure he could walk away free today.

Chapter 267

Gary shot Sierra a smug, challenging look, his lips curled in triumph.

But Sierra just let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Gary, who do you think you are to negotiate with me?”,

Gary’s smile vanished in an instant.

His face went ghostly pale as he stared up at Sierra in utter disbelief.

“You…” he stammered.

But before he could say another word, half the mercenaries rushed down the dune, yelling at Gary and Holden’s bodyguards, “Don’t move!”

These bodyguards were just here for the paycheck. Seeing how Serra had so many people on her side, they knew they’d get caught no matter what, so there was no point in fighting back.

They glanced at their bosses, then dropped their guns, put their hands up, and let themselves get tied up without a fuss.

Holden was shaking like a leaf.

He wanted to just put his hands up and let Sierra nab him.

But when Gary saw what Holden was about to do, his face twisted in anger and he snapped, “Holden, if you side with the cops today, have you even thought about how the boss will finish you off?””

Holden shuddered, cold sweat pouring down his back.

Gary looked at the mess he was in. If he landed in jail, the cops would interrogate him, and he might just end up dead in some “accident”. Worse yet, his family would be targeted for revenge because of him.

At this point, he figured he might as well drag Bessa to the grave with him.

Thinking that, Gary fixed Sierra with a cold, hard stare and shouted, “Sierra, since you won’t listen to reason, I’ll make sure you regret it!”

With that, Gary pulled the trigger.

But Gary was just a second too slow.

This time, Sierra didn’t fire, but Sophie did.

And Sophie was lightning fast, squeezing off two shots in the blink of an eye. One tore through Gary’s wrist, the other slammed right into his knee..

Gary howled in pain, writhing on the ground.

Holden was so terrified that he was completely stunned.

He didn’t care what would happen to him in prison anymore. He threw his hands up and blurted out, “Don’t kill me! I won’t fight back, so just take me in!

“I’ll tell you everything, whatever you want to know. Please, just just don’t shoot!”

Holden’s eyes rolled frantically as he looked for a way out.

Sophie strode over, cuffed Holden’s hands behind his back, and Handed him off to the mercenaries nearby.

Now that the crisis was over, Sierra couldn’t help but thank her lucky stars that Elliot had her back with all those mercenaries. If she’d had to rely on the local cops alone, things would’ve gotten really messy.

Still feeling relieved, Sierra headed straight for Bessa.

Bessa hadn’t slept or stopped running for days, and now it couldn’t run another step.

When Sierra came over, Bessa barely managed to lift its head, shooting Sierra a guarded glance.

But Sierra, without a word, loosened the rope collar around Bessa’s neck, and then carefully checked its injured hind leg.

Looked like Sierra wasn’t here to hurt it after all.

Bessa couldn’t help but remember that day in Grave Canyon, when Sierra and her crew were banging against the fence.

But humans were always so fickle. For their own benefit, they could play nice for a moment just to get what they wanted.

Thinking that, Bessa squeezed its eyes shut, forcing itself not to be fooled by Sierra.

Even though this human made it want to get close, and she was really pretty, humans were always scheming and sly.
