After ending the stream, Sierra saw Elliot calling her.

She answered almost instantly.

Elliot sounded a bit worried on the other end. “Sierra, I watched your stream today. Do you need me to get you a lawyer?”

Sierra was just about to say no, but Elliot quickly added, “I’ve got a whole team of lawyers working for me, all poached from Sunshine Law Firm.”

The words of refusal stuck in her throat. Sierra couldn’t bring herself to turn him down, so she said, “Alright, I will accept your help then.”

On the other end, Elliot’s eyes went wide in surprise.

He never expected Sierra to actually accept his offer. Even though she couldn’t see him, Elliot was grinning from ear to ear, nodding like a bobblehead, his amber eyes drifting over to the two men sitting on the couch in his office.

One was his best buddy, Hector Howard, and the other was Philip, his childhood friend.

After hanging up, Elliot couldn’t wait to share the news with his buddies. “Sierra didn’t turn me down at all when I offered to get her a lawyer. Do you guys think she’s into me now?”

The two guys on the couch just sat there, speechless. They gave Elliot that classic ‘bless your heart’ look, not saying a word.

But Elliot was still lost in his own excitement. “Sierra used to hate bothering me. If I’d offered to get her a lawyer before, she would’ve shot me down for sure. But this time, she didn’t just accept.

“She even thanked me! If that’s not her liking me, what is? So, when do you guys think I should pop the question to Sierra? Or is that way too soon? I mean, I haven’t even told her how I feel yet.

“Eh, whatever, I’ll deal with that later. Philip, didn’t Vera’s dad just launch a new real estate project? Can you check when it’ll be finished? Save the penthouse for me. I want it as the wedding home for Sierra and me.”

It wasn’t until Elliot finished talking that he finally noticed their faces and glanced at his friends, confused.

Hector and Philip didn’t tease him. They actually got real and gave him some honest advice.

“Right now, Sierra just sees you as a friend. If you suddenly tell her how you feel, she might not even want to be friends after that,” Hector said.

Elliot’s face went pale.

Philip added, “But Sierra isn’t avoiding you. Compared to everyone else, you’ve still got a real chance. But Hector’s right. Don’t just blurt it out. Test the waters and see how she feels about you first.”

“How does she feel about you, huh?” Elliot repeated, still looking confused.

Philip nodded, leaned in close, and whispered something in Elliot’s ear. It suddenly clicked on Elliot. He nodded with all the confidence in the world. “Don’t worry, I totally get it!”

Philip gave Elliot several long looks. For someone who always had everything under control in the business world, for once, Philip was pretty sure Elliot hadn’t understood a thing.

Sierra slept like a log that night.

But later, she suddenly found herself having a bizarre dream.

In her dream, Elliot was decked out in a pink traditional costume with two awkwardly smeared circles of blush on his cheeks.

He was acting all bashful and dramatic, declaring she was the only one he’d ever marry, and that was enough to scare Sierra wide awake.

When she opened her eyes, Sierra glanced down and saw Payton her fifty-pound dog, sprawled out on top of her. No wonder her chest felt so tight, and she had that not-quite-a-nightmare kind of dream.

Sierra nudged Payton aside, and the dog stirred for a couple of seconds before finding another cozy spot and drifting right back to sleep.

Sierra wiped the sweat from her forehead and headed to the bathroom for a shower, her mind still replaying the scene from her dream.

Just picturing Elliot dressed up in pink like some blushing maiden, Sierra couldn’t hold it in and let out a snort of laughter.

‘Honestly,’ Sierra thought, ‘Even in my dream, Elliot was still just himself, not out of character at all

After freshening up, Sierra was planning to swing by the zoo for quick check.

But as soon as she stepped out the door, her phone lit up with a call from a number she didn’t recognize.

She hung up without a second thought.

Right after, she got a message on WhatsApp.
