Chapter 51
Chapter 51
The fox under Ryan squirmed and let out a loud yelp.

Sierra couldn’t help but twitch her lips and asked, “Hey, Ryan, where did you pick up this dog anyway?”
Ryan was totally lost. He got even more confused when he saw the live chat blowing up with lol.
He scratched his head and explained honestly, “I found it on the mountain when I went hiking with my classmates. It was just a few months old back then, and its leg was hurt, so I brought it home.
Ryan grimaced. “But the very first day I brought it back to the dorm, it went and dug a massive hole in our door, then peed a lake on my blanket.
“After that, I moved out, but it didn’t just bully my other dogs; it even punched a hole in the ceiling. The landlord got the short end of the stick, but I had it even worse. Seriously, what did I ever do to deserve this?”
Ryan was totally miserable. His eyes were starting to water as he talked.
Sierra asked, “So, what breed do you think your dog is?”
“Breed?” Ryan glanced down at his pet, which had finally stopped struggling. He said, “It’s got white fur all over, with some black spots. I checked online, and I’m pretty sure it’s a merle Border Collie mix.”
The chat went dead silent.
Sierra was stunned, too.
‘I thought he was just joking around, but turns out he’s actually that dumb,’ Sierra thought.
[Dude, are you for real? That thing doesn’t look like a dog at all.]
[What kind of weirdos hang out in Sierra’s stream? That’s obviously a fox.]
[Sierra can’t even right now.]
[Ryan is still totally lost.]
[I’m dying laughing. Ryan, do you even hear yourself right now?]
[He really does love that fox, huh?]
Ryan stared at the live chat flying by like shooting stars, totally lost.
“It’s a fox?” he stammered.
‘No
way,
that can’t be right, he thought.
Ryan was still a bit unsure, while on Sierra’s end of the stream, she was already busy searching on her phone.

Finally, Sierra found a photo of a fox with the exact same fur pattern and held it up to the camera for Ryan to
see.
Sierra explained, “That’s a raccoon fox, an artificially bred, colorful fox breed. At a glance, it closely resembles a Border Collie, but Border Collies lack such long, thin ears and a similarly pointed snout.
“Plus, I checked the map; there’s actually a fox farm near where you found it. This little guy probably escaped. from there. But don’t worry, they are totally fine to keep as pets, you’re not breaking any laws.”
As she spoke, Sierra flipped through some Border Collie pics and put them on screen for Ryan to compare.
There was no way Ryan could deny it now. What stung even more was that the whole internet was roasting him alive.
After sulking for a moment, Ryan asked, “So what am I supposed to do if it’s always such a little troublemaker? I can’t keep it in check at all.” He really did have a soft spot for these furry friends.
“It’s easy,” Sierra said. “Foxes need way more exercise than cats or dogs, and they’re crazy good at jumping and running around. If you don’t give it enough playtime, all that energy’s gotta go somewhere, so it’ll just start wreaking havoc at home.”
Ryan finally understood. He paused, then said, “I’m in class most of the day, and I can only take it out for a couple of hours at night. So should I just rent a mansion with a huge yard or something?”
The chat went dead silent.
[Wait, since when are college students this rich?]
Before the chat could even recover from the shock, Ryan ended the call after Sierra nodded, already searching for a villa with a big lawn near his campus.
[Honestly, watching this is just kinda painful.]
[Hey Ryan, would you consider dating a 28-year-old sister? I’m tired of hustling and just want someone to take care of me.]
[Real estate agent here; looks like Ryan’s already asking if there are any villas nearby where you can keep a fox.]
[Man, with that kind of energy, Ryan could probably conquer the world.]
[Sierra, Sierra! Hurry up and bring in the next caller.]
Once Ryan signed off, Sierra just grabbed a random user with no profile pic and started a new call. On the other end, it was pure chaos, just a bunch of background noise, and not a single video feed in sight.
The chat was blowing up, everyone telling Sierra to hang up and pick someone else. But Sierra could tell the caller was probably an older person, so she ignored the chat and patiently tried to teach the old guy how to join the video call.
Finally, after ten minutes, a wrinkled old face popped up on screen for everyone to see. Sierra gave a gentle

smile and said, “Hello there, sir. Is there something I can help you with?”

The video was pretty dim, and judging by the background, it looked like the old man’s home was pretty modest. Seeing how polite Sierra was, the old man’s tension melted away. He asked, a bit hesitantly, “Is there a fee for this?”
Sierra shook her head. “Don’t worry, I’ll take a look for free.”
“Could you maybe help me check what’s going on with my cow?” the old man asked.
The chat was blowing up.
[Huh? People actually keep cows as pets?]
[Honestly, if they weren’t so huge, cows would low-key be the best pets; they’re super chill.]
[No joke, the cows back in my hometown are total attention seekers, and they’re crazy smart.]
[Pretty sure this is out in the sticks, looks like a working farm cow.]
As the chat buzzed, the old man entered the barn with his phone. He explained while walking, “My cow stopped eating and drinking days ago. I called the vet thinking it was sick, but he found nothing wrong.”
As he spoke, he switched on the light in the dark barn. The light was dim, but Sierra could tell the old man kept the barn spotless.
The cow that wouldn’t eat was huddled in the corner, looking dazed and wary. It seemed like the cow had some kind of trauma, just like Angel did.
Just then, the old man said, “Oh, and I noticed it hasn’t slept a wink for days. Can you help me figure out what’s going on?”
Sierra replied, “Don’t worry, I’ll ask it for you.” With that, she told the old man to hold his phone closer to the
COW.
The cow twitched its nose and flicked its tail at the sound, but it just wouldn’t say a word. Sierra was stumped for a second.
She could only ask the old man, “I’m kinda out of options here if it won’t talk. Have you noticed anything else weird lately, or did anything major happen to it?”
The old man shook his head, saying, “We care for our animals here. I’ve never mistreated it. It eats well daily, and even in summer heat, I lead it to the pond to cool off.”
He just couldn’t wrap his head around why his cow suddenly started acting this way. The chat blew theories after hearing that.
[The old man’s right, cows cost over thousands each. Of course, he’d treat it like gold.]
[The cow looks spotless. The old man’s telling the truth.]

[See? I told you Sierra was just faking it. There’s no such thing as a pet communicator. And now, she’s already flopping on her third call.]
[Hey, don’t forget. Sierra knew Cookie’s name right off the bat. And that cow was totally out of it, didn’t even acknowledge Sierra at all.]
[Seriously, are you blind? The first caller was obviously a plant.]
Sierra ignored all the doubters in the chat and just asked the old man to slowly sweep his phone around the
barn.
Then, as a flicker of green flashed across the corner of the screen, Sierra suddenly called out, “Wait.”
The old man stopped moving his phone, pausing mid-sweep. Sierra quickly said, “Could you shift your phone a bit to the left?”
The old man moved his phone to the left. Then, a pair of glowing green slit pupils stood out in the dim room, catching everyone’s eye.
In the corner, a snow leopard, almost comically chubby, was sprawled out, tongue lolling as it panted, those intense eyes locked right on the camera.
The chat was blowing up with question marks.
[Damn, old man, you’re wild.]
