Chapter 80
Chapter 80
The Kaelenridge Sheep’s cries drew the rest of the group over.
Ethan looked at the lamb, wedged halfway into a crack, and couldn’t help but grimace. He asked, “What happened? How did it get stuck?”
Sierra filled everyone in on what happened.
Everyone just stared, lost for words.
They all shot the clueless little lamb a long, meaningful look.
Timothy burst out laughing, slapping his thigh. He said, “Seriously, this little guy is hilarious. That tiny thing? I could polish it off in one sitting.”
The Kaelenridge Sheep choked.
Ethan, annoyed, kicked Timothy. He said, “Can you not say something nice for once? If you freak out the Kaelenridge Sheep, you’re the one who has to deal with it.”
Timothy just went, “Oh,” and quickly covered his mouth, struggling not to crack up.
Seeing this, the Kaelenridge Sheep totally freaked out and started bawling, bleating nonstop.
To Sierra, it sounded exactly like a little girl around four or five throwing a full-on tantrum and bawling her lungs out.
It was seriously giving her a headache.
But before Sierra could even move, Sophie was already stepping forward.
Sophie clamped her hand over the lamb’s bleating mouth and said seriously, “Stop crying.”
The Kaelenridge Sheep looked up, totally confused.
Then, just like she was talking to a kid, Sophie said seriously, “If you keep crying, I’ll throw you out to the wolves.”
Everyone just stared, lost for words.
Probably scared stiff, the Kaelenridge Sheep stopped crying right away, its eyes going totally blank. Sophie had clearly stunned it into silence.
Sophie looked pretty satisfied, then made way for Sierra and said with total seriousness. She said, “Sierra, it’s quiet now. The rest is up to you.”
Sierra gave Sophie a thumbs-up and said, “Sophie, you’re a legend!”
Sophie replied, dead serious, “Don’t mention it.”
Sierra looked at the poor little lamb wedged in the gap, a soft smile on her face as she spoke in the gentlest tone, “Don’t be scared. We’re not here to hurt you.”
The Kaelenridge Sheep had its eye on Sierra from the start.
If Sierra hadn’t been around, it would’ve stayed far away from people.
It had seen Sierra cooking earlier, and the delicious smell had wafted over. All it could do was hold back and watch them eat, eyes full of longing.

Chapter 80
The little lamb was getting sadder and sadder, on the verge of crying all over again.
Just as it was about to bleat, it nervously stole a glance at Sophie standing nearby.
It thought, ‘She is so scary.
‘Please don’t feed me to the wolves.’
So it choked back its tears, too scared to make a peep.
SO TELANGA
The Kaelenridge Sheep’s voice trembled, sounding young and scared as it finally blurted out, “As I’d ever trust you. I heard everything: you were gonna feed me to the wolves! You’re all evil humans!”
Timothy blinked, pointing at the Kaelenridge Sheep. He asked, “Did you hear that? Is it calling us names?”
With that, Timothy poked the Kaelenridge Sheep’s butt, grumbling, “We’ve been here for days, barely getting three hours of sleep a night for you sheep, and every time you see us, you bolt. Heartless little brat.”
As he spoke, he put his hands together and started rapidly poking the Kaelenridge Sheep’s butt with four fingers.
The Kaelenridge Sheep’s coat was plush and super squishy.
But after getting its butt poked, the little lamb totally lost it and started bleating angrily, “If it weren’t for you humans, we wouldn’t have to change our migration route, and I wouldn’t have gotten separated from my mom. I want my mom.”
The more it thought about it, the sadder it got. Not even caring about being thrown to the wolves anymore, it just threw its head back and bawled its lungs out, its bleats echoing across the whole wasteland.
Ethan gave Timothy another solid whack, and Timothy ducked his head, not daring to say another word.
This little Kaelenridge Sheep had a real temper. Timothy was honestly worried he might actually make it keel over from
rage.
The Kaelenridge Sheep was crying its lungs out, totally out of breath, so it was up to Sierra to play sheep-whisperer.
Sierra said helplessly, “We can’t just leave it stuck like this. Let’s get it out first.”
If nobody had found this lamb today, it would’ve just been stuck here waiting to die, turning into wind-dried lamb jerky.
While Ethan and the others went to grab some tools, Sierra gently said, “My friend was just joking around. We’re not here to hurt you, and we’re definitely not here to hurt your family.”
The Kaelenridge Sheep looked at Sierra, clearly wanting to get closer.
But then it remembered all the elders in its herd who didn’t make it, and it stubbornly turned its head away, snorting loudly. It said, “Even if I die today…”
Suddenly, a splash of green popped up right before the Kaelenridge Sheep’s eyes.
Out of nowhere, Sierra was holding a bunch of fresh, juicy grass, the kind the little langb had never seen in its life.
The little lamb stretched its long neck, gulping down a river of drool, its big eyes glued to the grass in Sierra’s hand.
It thought, ‘It is so green and it smells amazing. I need to eat that!’
Seeing the grass had caught its attention, Sierra kept up her gentle persuasion.
She said, “Hey there, little one, do I really look like someone who’d hurt you?” Her voice was soft and soothing, leaving the Kaelenridge Sheep totally stunned.

Chapter 80
The Kaelenridge Sheep felt really conflicted.
f
It thought, ‘Humans could be pretty mean, but maybe not all of them were bad, right?
Like this human in front of me. Her voice is so nice, her eyes so pretty, and she spoke so gently. There’s no way she is like those bad humans.’

The Kaelenridge Sheep looked at Sierra, eyes full of doubt and hope. It asked, “R-Really? Are you really here to protect us?”
Seeing the little lamb start to lower its guard, Sierra added, “That’s right. Once we get you out, you can take a tour of our ride. Promise, no guns, no tranquilizers, nothing like that on us or in the car.”
Of course, there were guns, but with how clueless this little guy was, it wouldn’t even notice a rifle if it was waving in its face.
With Sierra sounding so sincere, the Kaelenridge Sheep totally bought it.
The little lamb nodded enthusiastically and said, “Alright, I trust you.”
Sierra let out a sigh of relief.
Luckily, this rescue was a breeze. After digging out some of the crumbling stone with a shovel, the team pulled the little Kaelenridge Sheep free.
But after being stuck for so long, its legs were totally numb. When it finally hit the ground, it staggered around like it was drunk, each hoof going its own way.
But it didn’t forget the main thing. Swaying and wobbling over to the car, it held its little head high with pride. It said, “Don’t forget our deal. I’m here for my inspection.”
