Chapter 87
Chapter 87
In her previous life, Sierra had relied on Sharon for everything.
Sharon was nothing like the rest of the Sterlings. She rarely criticized Sierra, spoke to her with warmth, and whenever she brought gifts for Natalie, made sure Sierra got something, too.
Whenever Shawn complained that Sierra couldn’t do anything right, Sharon would always jump in to smooth things over.
Back then, Sierra was lost in the comfort of her mother’s gentle affection, so much so that she refused to wake up to the truth: Sharon didn’t really love her.
Sierra had been switched at birth for over twenty years, and Sharon was just too weighed down by guilt and fear to face it. That messy mix of emotions meant Sharon only showed Sierra a little kindness now and then, never anything more.
But in reality, compared to the gifts Nat got, the things Sharon gave Sierra were just hand-me-downs or promotional freebies.
Sharon always spoke up for Sierra, not because she really cared, but because she was afraid she’d end up dumping all her resentment on Natalie.
It wasn’t until the very end of her previous life that Sierra finally saw the truth.
Just thinking about the title “Mrs. Sterling” made Sierra feel sick to her stomach.
Sierra made no effort to hide her disgust; it was plain to Jonathan.
Jonathan instinctively frowned, but as usual, the words of reproach just stuck in his throat.
Ever since he broke Sierra’s phone, he’d been having dreams about her from time
time.
But in those dreams, Sierra wasn’t the strong, capable person she was now. She was always quiet, keeping to herself and silently taking care of things for the Sterlings.
Just yesterday, he dreamed that Sierra died in the middle of the street, blood everywhere, her eyes staring blankly, unable to rest in peace.
When Jonathan woke up, his heart was racing. He just couldn’t wrap his head around why anyone would want to kill Sierra.
Sierra was his sister, after all. Even if they weren’t that close, family ties still mattered. Jonathan couldn’t just stand by and let Sierra die.
Jonathan thought, ‘Maybe these dreams are a warning.
‘I have to save Sierra.
With that thought, Jonathan finally said, “Sierra, I know you’ve always blamed Mom for not watching over you and letting you get lost. Nat’s parents made mistakes too, but all these years, out of guilt, we never treated you badly.
“We made sure you had food and clothes, and even when money was tight, we still sent you to high school. Maybe things were awkward between us before, but that doesn’t mean we ever thought about giving up on you.
“If you ever want to come back, the Sterling family will always be here for you.”
At those words, Sierra’s eyes wavered, and she arched an eyebrow at Natalie.
Sierra’s stare was so fierce that Natalie felt scorched by it. Her lips pressed into a thin line, anxiety written all over her face.

Chapter 97
Suddenly, Sierra lel on a moking laugh, her voice thick with sarcasm. She sneered, Those two pieces of traded and sent me to high school
If that were really the case, would I have had to hustle in the entertainment industry just to make ends meet
Jonathan frowned, picking up on the fact that Sierra’s words carried something deeper she wasn’t saying. He asked, “What are you getting at?”
Sierra’s face was pure mockery. She clearly didn’t want to waste another word on him.
Jonathan thought, I have personally asked my assistant to investigate Sierra’s background, so there is no way the
information is off’
The files showed Sierra’s record was full of trouble, but Nat’s parents, out of guilt, went out of their way to please her When Sierra got to college, she’d never even seen skyscrapers or luxury brands before.
She just wanted to impress her classmates. The moment she heard that showbiz was a goldmine, she dove right in
Jonathan was about to say something, but Natalie jumped in first.
“Sierra, I know you’re saying all this because you hate me,” Natalie said, her voice trembling as she finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. Her tears spilled over, unstoppable,
Natalie asked, “Sierra, what do you want from me? Would you only be satisfied if I just died?”
Sierra cut her off, voice like frost. “There’s an overpass about half a mile from here. Co jump. No one survives that drop”
Then Sierra cocked her head, a mocking smirk curling on her lips. She added, “If you die, maybe I’ll finally stop hating you.”
Ryan, who’d been eating up all the gossip, was finally gobsmacked as he pieced it all together.
He thought, ‘Damn, Natalie’s a total fraud.
Sierra glanced at Ryan and said, “Hang in there. I’m off.”
Ryan nodded on reflex, but once Sierra had walked away, he realized he still had a bunch of things he wanted to ask or say but hadn’t gotten to yet. And Sierra’s phone was still in his hand.
“Sierra, your phone,” Ryan blurted out, starting to chase after her.
Sierra just waved him off and said, “Just keep it.”
Ryan’s jaw dropped.

News that Natalie was hospitalized got back to the Sterlings fast.
Jimmy and Shawn were both working out of town and couldn’t make it back.
Jonathan had a ton of meetings lined up. As soon as Sharon heard Natalie’s heart condition had flared up, she rushed over. So Jonathan was able to leave.
When Sharon walked into the hospital room and saw Natalie’s eyes all putty and red from crying, her heart went out to her.
“What happened?” Sharon asked, her voice gentle.
Natalie’s tears spilled out in an instant. She cried, “Mom, it’s all my fault. I did some bad things before, so I’ve been trying to win back Sierra’s forgiveness. Jon and I have been waiting for her at WonderWild Zoo every day.
“Today, I finally got to see her, and I wanted to do something nice for her, but Sierra…

Sharon’s heart tightened. Knowing how tough Sierra could be, she instantly got anxious. She asked, “What did Sierra do to you?”
Natalie’s lashes fluttered as she shot a quick look at Jonathan, then ducked her head, her voice full of hurt. She said, ‘Sierra told me to go die. She said the only way she’d ever stop hating me is if I just died.”
