Chapter 94

Chapter 94

The collared crow noticed Sierra’s face looking worse and worse, staring hard at Fabian.

Fabian was feeling so guilty that he couldn’t even look Sierra in the eye.

Sierra towered over him, and finally, her eyes landed on the bulge in Fabian’s chest.

Just as Sierra was about to reach out, Elliot stepped in first. He said, “Sierra, let me handle this.”

BD your hers

Without giving Fabian a chance to fight back, Elliot ripped off his jacket, and the bag hidden at his chest dropped to the ground.

Fabian’s face went pale with panic. His hand shot out to snatch it, but Sierra beat him to it.

Sierra picked up the bag.

Her hands shook as she opened it. Most of it was loose change and crumpled small notes. There were hardly any big bills at all.

It was clear this was the kind of money an elderly person had painstakingly saved, little by little.

Sierra demanded, “Fabian, is this really your money?”

With that, both Fabian and Elliot snapped their heads toward her.

Fabian froze, thinking, ‘How does she know my name? We’ve never even crossed paths before!’

Before Fabian could even open his mouth, Elliot smacked him on the head.

Elliot demanded, “Still not talking? Didn’t you hear Sierra asking if this money’s yours or not?”

Then, Fabian got smacked on the head again.

Seeing Fabian still refusing to answer, Sierra pressed him harder, “All these coins and small bills are stacked so neatly. Whoever saved this must’ve counted it a hundred times. So, did you steal this, or did you snatch it from someone?”

“What are you talking about?” Fabian barked, instantly bristling.

He blurted, “It’s mine!”

He was dead set on claiming it was his, thinking these folks couldn’t do anything to him anyway.

With that in mind, Fabian stuck out his chin, acting like he was untouchable.

Sierra’s eyes snapped up, sharp and cold.

She passed the crow to Elliot, then leaned in so only Fabian could hear her. She said, “I know exactly who you are. Fabian. I know you just mugged an old lady. That money? It’s what she scraped together to save her husband’s life.”

As soon as Sierra finished, she stepped back from Fabian.

Fabian’s face went ghostly pale. His lips trembled, and his eyes were wide with shock and fear.

“H-How do you know that?” he stammered.

He thought, ‘There was nobody at the scene when I pulled it off. How the hell does this woman know what happened?”

Sierra didn’t bother with his tangled emotions and went straight for the jugular. She said. “This is your last chance. Tell us everything you did.”

Fabian almost blurted out the truth before he caught himself.

Sierra’s words hit Fabian like a ton of bricks. He was totally thrown off. He thought, ‘How the hell did she know all that?

“There was nobody there when. I did it.

‘Wait a second.’

His eyes snapped to the collared crow in Elliot’s arms.

Fabian thought, ‘If anyone had seen me pull off the robbery, it isn’t a person; it is that damn bird.’

Right then, the collared crow let out a harsh, ugly caw at him, its eyes burning with pure hatred, like it wanted him to drop dead on the spot.

Fabian thought, ‘Could there really be demons in this world?

‘Otherwise, how could this woman know my name, or even that I just robbed that old lady in the back alley?’

The more Fabian dwelled on it, the more terrified he became. His shock twisted into panic. He pointed at Sierra, scrambling backward, and yelled, “Don’t trust her. She’s not human, she’s a demon. There was nobody around when I robbed that old lady.”

The crowd erupted into a noisy uproar.

Fabian’s voice stopped dead. The moment he realized he’d just exposed himself, he clamped his hand over his mouth, panic flashing in his eyes.

Sierra’s eyes grew icy as she watched Fabian basically admit it himself. She demanded, “Where’s the person you robbed? Tell me, right now!”

She thought, ‘The collared crow said the old lady might’ve suffered a serious head injury. If she didn’t get help soon, she could be in real danger.

‘With the collared crow’s wing messed up, it can’t show us where the old lady is. The only option left is to get Fabian to confess himself.

Now that Fabian had gotten everyone riled up, the crowd finally stopped being bystanders and started confronting him. Some went straight to call the police.

Less than three minutes later, cops from the local station showed up.

When the cops saw Fabian, face swollen and bruised, crying his heart out, they froze for a second, totally thrown off.

And when they spotted Sierra, the cops looked even more confused.

“Ms. Sterling? Why is it you guys again?” one of the cops blurted out.

The cop thought, ‘Didn’t these two just leave the station less than an hour ago?”

Meanwhile, Fabian was completely at a loss.

Seeing how familiar the cops seemed with Sierra, Fabian realized they already knew each other.

He thought, ‘Damn, I just handed myself over!

Chapter 94

Sierra didn’t give Fabian a chance to get a word in. She turned to the cops and said, “Mr. Paterson and I were grabbing a bite nearby when we saw a collared crow going after Fabian.

“Fabian snatched the crow and tried to kill it, but I stepped in. Right after that, he came right out and confessed to the robbery. And I think the victim might be in real danger!”

With the whole crowd watching, Sierra played it smart. She skipped over the messy parts and dumped all the blame on Fabian without missing a beat..

Sure enough, the cops were way more worried about the victim’s safety than anything else.

Fabian was scared out of his wits. The cops didn’t even bother taking him back to the station. They just grilled him right there in front of everyone.

Just picturing that old lady lying there after he knocked her down made Fabian too terrified to say a word.

From the crowd, a few men with tattoos, chunky gold chains, and shiny bald heads came forward.

Without saying a word, one of them slapped Fabian hard across the face, cursing, “You damn bastard. Not talking, huh? Do you wanna play dumb? Keep it up, and I’ll mess you up.”

These guys were real go-getters. They didn’t wait for the cops and went straight to helping Fabian ‘remember’ everything, the hard way.

If the situation allowed, they’d probably grab the cops’ batons and go to town on Fabian themselves.

Fabian finally cracked, sobbing so hard he could barely get the words out. He said, “I’ll talk. Stop.”

He thought, ‘Just my luck. What did I do to run into so many weirdos today?”

When those guys saw Fabian finally spill the beans, they instantly felt relieved. One of them kicked Fabian and joked, “See, if you’d just talked earlier, you wouldn’t have gotten smacked around, right?”

After that, the man caught the cops giving him a death stare and instantly lost his nerve, but he still tried to act tough. He said, “Officer, no need to thank us. Suddenly remembered we left our crawfish unfinished, so we’ll just get going now!”

With that, those guys took off like rabbits, disappearing in a flash.

As they walked away, they kind of wished they’d kicked Fabian a few more times.
