Chapter 96
Chapter 96
Sierra had no clue that Quickie was going crazy with jealousy in the nest next door.
After fussing over Snowy one last time, Sierra was half-asleep and stumbled out of the glass enclosure.

As soon as Sierra left, Quickie, now all fluffy, scampered out of his nest, ending up with just a wall between him and Snowy.
Snowy glanced over.
Suddenly, Quickie started flapping his wings like crazy and yelled out, “Stupid bird! Stupid bird!”
Before Snowy could even say anything, Quickie got even more hyped and shouted, “Dumbass bird! Dumbass bird!”
Quickie thought, ‘Not only is he super dark, but he’s ugly as hell.’
Snowy looked at Quickie like he was nuts. He asked, “Dude, are you out of your mind?”
Quickie snorted, trying to stake his claim, “Sierra’s mine! If you know what’s good for you, you…”
Quickie wanted to throw out some serious threats, but the only insult he knew was “dumbass!”
Quickie was about to lose his mind.
It thought, “There are so many animals in the zoo, and I only got a tiny bit of love. Now there’s another bird, not only injured but living right next door. When Sierra comes back, she’ll definitely worry about that bird instead of me.’
The more Quickie thought about it, the more his heart ached. His defenses totally crumbled.
Quickie threw his head back and wailed, “Sierra, come back and do something for me. This ugly black bird is bullying me!”
Snowy thought, ‘Is this weird-looking, ugly bird only here because he got his head hurt?
‘It is seriously nuts.’
Sierra was totally clueless that those two birds had already started squabbling the second they met.
She crashed into bed the moment she got back to the staff dorm.
Seeing how exhausted Sierra was, Payton stopped chewing on the couch, went to the bathroom to wipe his paws, then hopped onto the bed and snuggled right up to her.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that there was a knock at Sierra’s dorm room door.
Sierra opened the door and saw Timothy standing there.
After the wildlife rescue team got transferred back from Coliburg to Aville, they’d been looking after the zoo animals. Whenever there was a mission, Sophie’s main job was to keep Sierra safe.
“What’s up?” Sierra asked, noticing Timothy looked a bit off.
Timothy looked helpless. He said, “Sierra, you need to get to the aviary right now. That bird you rescued yesterday is pinning Quickie down and giving him a real beating. He’s almost ripped out all the new feathers Quickie just managed to grow!”
Sierra just stared at him, lost for words.

Chapter 96
She thought she’d misheard. Her lips twitched in disbelief. She grabbed a jacket and rushed out after Timothy.
As they hurried along, Sierra couldn’t help but ask, “Weren’t they supposed to be in separate cages? And Snowy’s still injured. How could he possibly be the one pinning Quickie down and beating him up?”
But reality was about to slap Sierra right in the face.
Turns out, in this zoo, anything could happen.
When Sierra got to the aviary, she could already see Quickie’s feathers flying everywhere inside the glass enclosure, and Quickie’s voice was already ringing out.
Quickie wailed, “Don’t peck at my feathers. It took me forever to grow them back. If I end up bald, Sierra won’t want me
anymore.
“Hey, ugly! You’re just bullying me because you’re bigger! Just wait till Sierra shows up. She’ll deal with you!”
Sierra just stared at the scene, lost for words.
Snowy’s wing was still wrapped in bandages, but he was way bigger than any regular crow: short, perky tail, sharp beak. Right now, he had Quickie pinned under his claws. Quickie was totally stuck, couldn’t budge at all.
Sierra thought, ‘Seriously, how does Quickie even have the nerve to talk tough right now?’
Sierra was just chilling outside the glass enclosure, watching as Snowy and Quickie went at it, feathers flying everywhere. The two birds were so caught up in their brawl that they didn’t even notice Sierra ‘standing there, quietly watching the whole
mess.
Just as the two birds were busy pecking at each other’s head feathers, Sierra couldn’t watch anymore and cleared her throat.
When Quickie heard that familiar voice, his whole body jolted, and the few feathers he had left instantly fluffed up. His head froze as he stared out the glass enclosure.
When he saw Sierra standing there, it felt like his whole world had come crashing down.
Just then, while Quickie was still in shock, Snowy seized the chance and yanked out the boldest green feather right from the top of Quickie’s head.
Quickie yelped in pain.
It howled, cursing at Snowy, “Dumbass! Dumbass! Ugly bird! Ugly bird!”
Quickie thought, ‘Like that ugly bird could ever get Sierra to love him! No way!
Quickie finally managed to wriggle free from Snowy’s grip.
Right then, Sierra swung open the glass door and strode in, her eyes zeroing in on the two troublemakers.
She raised an eyebrow, giving them a look that said, “Well? Care to explain?”
Snowy froze for a second when Sierra showed up, but Quickie jumped at the chance. He stuck out a wing like a person and started snitching, “Sierra, this dumbass ugly bird is the worst. Just look what he did to me!”
Quickie was trying to play the victim, but while he was talking, he snuck a peek at his reflection in the glass.
He wished he hadn’t; catching his reflection, he saw every pretty feather he’d finally grown was gone, and now he looked like some scraggly barnyard chicken.
Quickie was stunned, then totally lost it.

He glared at Snowy, the one who started all this, and wanted nothing more than to charge over and start another fight.
But Quickie was a smart bird. He knew better than to go toe-to-toe with Snowy.
So it cried, “Sierra, just look at me. Snowy totally bullied me! Seriously, there’s gotta be something wrong with his head. For the safety of all the birds in the aviary, Sierra. Please, just get rid of him.”
As he spoke, Quickie even managed to squeeze out a couple of tears.
Sierra just stared at the scene, lost for words.
Snowy could throw down in a fight, but when it came to trash talk, Quickie was in a whole different league.
Watching Quickie flip the script, Snowy was so pissed that he was left speechless.
Snowy fumed inwardly, ‘Come on, Quickie started it! I only fought back because I had to
Snowy stomped his foot, glaring at Quickie. He snapped, “Hey, those are my lines!”
Quickie rolled his eyes with a cheeky grin, like he was saying, “Whoever says it first, owns it!”
Then he turned on the waterworks again, milking it for all the sympathy he could get.
Sierra just stared at them, deadpan. She asked, “What is this, your audition tape for the Got Talent show or something?”
Before either bird could react, Sierra crouched down and poked Quickie on the head, her voice dry and teasing. She said, “So you’re saying Snowy beat you up?”
Quickie nodded eagerly.
Sierra couldn’t help but laugh, half annoyed, half amused. She said, “Really? You went into Snowy’s room just to get yourself smacked around?”
Quickie froze, realizing he’d been caught.
He thought, ‘Oh no, I’m totally busted’
