Chapter 151

Cora POV

They bundled us in the vehicle so quickly and shielded us; I doubt anyone could get close if they tried. They would have to get through all the men, and they were all buff men, not easily moved away. They w careful leaving the car park, but once on the road they broke all the road rules to get some distance aw

“Scruffy, we have a tail,” I called out. Scruffy was driving, his eyes on the road and the rear-view mirror; however, my eyes were on the road to the left that ran parallel to us.

“No one’s behind us. What are you talking about?” Stoner growled out, indignant; he was the eyes for th vehicle and sat beside the driver.

“Cora, explain,” Scruffy asked, not doubting me at all.

“The street to the left runs parallel to this one, for another two blocks, then hits a T-section. They picked speed when we did, and if you check as we pass this next intersection, you will see what looks like the local news van.”

Sure enough, as we passed the intersection, the easy-to-spot news van passed too, keeping our speed.

To our right were a few streets we could turn into and still end up where we wanted to be; it just took a little longer. Scruffy was good, he slowed and turned, picked up speed, and pulled into a laneway, the bik following close behind, and we waited, sure enough, the news van, tore past us, looking in search for us, and lucky for us, they didn’t see this laneway when coming from the other direction, Scruffy, turned back after a few twists and turns, ended at Gunner’s bike shop.

“Good spotting, Cora.” Scruffy complimented me, and a grunt from Stoner was the best I would get out o him.

Gunner came out, looking at me with wide eyes. I had briefly forgotten about how I looked, with all the excitement we just had.

“News team on our tail, on the hunt for Cora, need to lay low for a bit,” Scruffy growled out, and then pulle out his phone and spoke quickly, and hung up.

“You look amazing, love what you have done with your hair,” I said to Cora, picking up a lock of her hair in my hands.

“It was a good spa day, though that massage was deep tissue, and I can still feel muscles I didn’t know existed before.” Cora giggled and then moaned as she moved her shoulder to prove it still hurt. But that moan ran straight to my shaft, which twitched, just from the sound.

“No sign of the van; let’s go,” Scruffy called out. The men never left their bikes; they sat and waited, watching the street, but no news van turned into this street.

“Cora, come with me. If they find the vehicle you were in, they can follow, but you won’t be in it

“Good idea.” I started my bike and soon had Cora on the back. Some of the guards rode with us and the rest surrounded the vehicle that Ruby was in. We moved faster than the van, and we were home in the blink of an eye, speeding all the way. Cora’s screams of delight as the speed picked up she was a speed

freak, loving being on the bike.

Gunner parked the bike, and I waited for him to join me. By the time he was back with me, the van arr with the rest of the bikes.

“Let’s get our purchases in our room, and then hunt down Demetri; he has to be worried sick.”

“Why would he be worried?” Ruby asked, looking confused.

“The men would have phoned him and informed him of our little issues; let’s hurry so we can calm hir down.”

The men followed us and left the bags inside the room as we pointed out which belonged to whom.

“I will go through my things later; I need to get to Demetri, and I hope he’s not too stressed out.” Ruby closed her door and rushed downstairs, where Gunner went with me to our room, and he helped me p my things away.

“Can’t wait to see you in this?” I looked up, expecting to see him holding some lingerie; instead, he was holding my leather outfit. Both Ruby and I brought leather pants and a top, and new killer boots.

“Next club ride, I was going to wear it. It was going to be a surprise for you.”

“I have to wait for the next club ride? That could be ages away; can’t I get a sneak peek before then?”

“Maaybeee.” I stretched the word out.

“Please,” Gunner begged, making me giggle at his pleas. It felt good; Gunner knows how to make me

smile.

“Okay, but not right now. We have to go rescue Ruby,/in case Demetri has heard the worst.” Gunner had a briefing with the guards while I comforted Ruby and tried to help her through her first encounter with bein famous, or at least in the eyes of a few groups in the public, who see anyone with money or associated with lots of money as worthy of chasing after or following. Money was a means to survive without that kind of worry, but money can’t buy you everything you need in life, and so it has less meaning to me; like, it’s nice to have it, but it didn’t run my life. My uncle ruined it for me; his greed for it made me loathe those

who converted it.

In Dad’s office, I didn’t need to worry about Ruby; she dazzled Dad with her natural chap, or whatever power she has over him; his eyes sparkle when she’s around.

Yeah, guess that’s love, in a way.

I have seen it in Gunner’s eyes sometimes when he’s looking at me.

Dad talked softly to Scruffy before he left the room. Dad’s phone rang; it was to inform him his men were almost here- the ones that had babysat us all day- had already geared up and left, after the short talk with Dad, I feel bad for them, they have a long ride ahead of them, before they can rest for the night, and set up where they are going to hide for the following night.

I liked the men who were out babysitters; they weren’t afraid to sit with us and join in with a laugh and a story or two about Dad and some of the antics he got up to before and after he got married.

Apparently, he became a rebel, fighting his father whenever he could.

Zoo late for mum, but then if my mother had opened all the letters, she wouldn’t have been so sad Tew years of het te i would have had my real dad, so in a way, I feel my mother’s stubborness was he own worst enemy and put me in a bad situation, one where I believed the wrong man was my stepdad not my uncle, and mover explained or corrected me when I called him stepdad. My uncle must h thought it was a huge ke, and enjoyed making my life awful

Let’s not get sidetracked by the max and continue with having a great day

“Your new bodyguards will be here in less than an hour, we can have an early dinner if they foods ready and an evening with the new guards.”

Dad how much danger are the men walking into?” I was worried about the shooters, or should I say the vehicles and bikes that are their targets, but if the men are found, would that mean they would be the target?

I have seen movies where snipers can have the advantage

Are they going to be okay?

I kind of like them

I don’t want them to be fut

“They are trained for this, dont worry Dad said, compassionately, a knowing smile on his face.

Dinner was spent discussing our day including the little incident and Ruby needed reassurance that wa effort would be made to keep her safe. Dad was looking forward to going upstairs and seeing all that Ru had brought, but first we had guests armving shortly, according to the text on Dad’s phone they were almost here. Guests it’s what I’m trying to think of them as because calling them staff would make it uncomfortable for me Offer then at work, I have never been around so many people as I have since moving to this town, and it’s only getting ligger if i have with Dad to the city the people will grow

exponentially

The whole idea is scary
