Over dinner, the talk of the engagement party had Cora and Ruby coming up with ideas, till in the end, with all the things they wanted to include, a party planner was going to be used. The party was going to be here, in the beautiful gardens. Still, now it’s going to be in one of the city’s famous restaurants, if I knew Demetri, he would hire the whole restaurant and would see if he could pull that one–off, like would the restaurant close its doors to the public, I have never heard of such a thing happening, but then, if you have money like Demetri has, he could make things happen, wave a few dollars at a man and watch, things happen.
I have never tried to use money like that, but it can. If you can cover the price that closing the doors would have brought in, I am sure a restaurant would do it. It would give them exposure and free advertising, because that’s what Demetri said: the world wants to know all about Demetri, his lady, and his daughter and that information sells papers and magazines, and they would have the restaurant’s name in all the papers, being the place that the engagement was being held.
I get it, free advertising in a way.
People will want to come to the restaurant just because Demetri and Cora have eaten there.
We were back in the office, having full bellies and garlic still lingering in my mouth; nothing could get rid of that overpowering taste, and I feared my breath would be bad. All the humour over dinner vanished the moment we entered the office. As we all started investigating the club members, we each took some of the paper that Cora printed, more pages for us to go over, while she started a new spreadsheet, adding everyone’s name and seeing what
developed.
“Do you see what I see?” Ruby asked when we separated the piles; it was interesting to see the small piles grow.
“Is that Cora’s uncle’s name?” I asked, looking at the last page that was printed.
“Yes, he’s on this page too, and that one. He knows Bluey and three of the club members, has ties to that delivery business, and some of the gun clan members. He appears to be our main link in this,” I said, as we continued to sort through the piles, Cora saying nothing; what could she say?
“We all knew he must be dirty, but could he be part of all these shooters, and who was his target? Not random members of the public; there’s still more to this, something we are missing,” Demetri added as he picked up the pile of printouts that contained Cora’s uncle.

“It appears the links he has with Bluey are on the black market. Do you think Bluey is aware that he had something to do with the shootings?” Ruby was still stunned by all this
information, and being someone not normally involved in any investigation, this was blowing her mind, but she had to get used to it if she was to be a part of Demetri’s life. He does a lot of this kind of investigation; some he can share, most he can’t.
Demetri will have to talk to Ruby about the secret part of his life, the private investigation side, inside his security team. Some work was for the government; other work was for those who feel the justice system failed them and have hired his team to find the truth. It can take them to dangerous places, like this shooter’s situation, although no one hired him to do this job.
“Bluey can’t be the only person stealing for the black market from the hospital; we’ll look into that side more later. What’s her bank balance like? What sort of money was she getting for all this?” Demetri asked, as he replaced the papers he had in his hand.
“Printing her bank accounts now. She has one that her wages go to, one that other money was coming from, and another account that looks like a shared account; it’s not in her name, but she has access to it. It looked like a group account, with millions in it,” Cora replied as the printer started to spew out pages.
“Bluey’s wages bank account was one I would expect from a woman or man on a head nurse’s salary. That second one is a lot of money; that was beyond a nurse’s salary, or even the average investor, but as impressive as that is, it could be from sound investments or inheritance. That third group account needs further investigation.” The money was a lot; nothing about Bluey showed she had that sort of money, and I wonder what she had plans to do with it, and if it would include Scrubs? Because Scrubs‘ bank account was the average doctor’s balance, growing from hard savings and investments.
Scrubs was in no way involved in what Bluey was involved in, and he is in for a whole lot of hurt. My heart breaks for him; he was a great man, caring, and although he has had some huge fights with her in front of all of us, they always seem to make up, he must be lost right now. Does he believe us, Cora and me or Bluey’s lies? His heart would want to believe Bluey, but he might have doubts. He would know of the missing stock, of the complaints of a thief they hadn’t been able to find. That would eat at him, till he would start to doubt Bluey, if he hadn’t already, maybe start an investigation of his own at the hospital, get the security team to start looking into Bluey’s movements; it would take a while, but I feel it’s something he would do, for his peace of mind, and if there were cracks in his relationship, this would push him over the top.
“Can you trace where the black market meets? Like, can you see where Bluey takes the contraband, or who she hands it over to, or leaves it somewhere to be collected by someone else later?” The different ideas flowed; we needed to focus on Bluey and the others in the

club, who are linked, and at the same time keep an eye on the shootings, so we broke into two teams: Cora and I will work on Bluey and that link to the club and black market. In contrast, Demetri and Ruby will keep tracking the shooters and that information.
