"Good thing Sebastian has quick reflexes to protect Seraphina. Don't go flattering yourself thinking he was trying to save you, Raelynn. That would just be embarrassing," Leo added with a mocking smirk.
Sebastian's expression remained perfectly blank. He didn't bother denying Leo's claim.
Raelynn understood perfectly. If that pot had fallen, it could have splashed Seraphina.
Sebastian wasn't protecting her. He was shielding the love of his life, and Raelynn just happened to be in the way.
Raelynn wasn't about to overthink it.
She wasn't that delusional.
Julian didn't say anything, but the pure contempt in his eyes spoke volumes.
Raelynn didn't fully grasp the situation, but her instincts screamed that this was a trap.
She turned to leave, refusing to get tangled in their mess.
Suddenly, a hand clamped down on her wrist. The rough friction of his knuckles against her skin made her heart slam against her ribs. She spun around and met Sebastian's dark, freezing gaze.
He stared at her, his voice slicing through the air like a blade aimed straight at her throat.
"Apologize to Seraphina."
It felt like someone had just forced acid down her throat, burning her lungs to ash. She stared back at him with pure ice. "Give me one good reason."
"I think you know exactly why."
Sebastian clearly didn't want to repeat the nasty rumors out loud in front of Seraphina.
He immediately dropped her wrist, pulling his hand back as if trying to prove his loyalty.
Raelynn wasn't stupid. She figured it out instantly. He was terrified Seraphina would get jealous over the physical contact.
Taking one look at the group, she pieced the entire puzzle together.
Julian must have taken Chloe's rant and twisted it into a malicious game of telephone.
These people had deliberately lured her upstairs to corner her.
