Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 9

Another friend at the table, Leo Flynn, laughed. "Yeah, why the long face?"

Taking his seat, Julian glanced across the table at Seraphina. She was poised, elegant, and always knew how to handle herself in their circle. She was completely flawless. And yet, Raelynn was downstairs dragging her name through the mud!

"Guess who I just saw downstairs? Raelynn."

Hearing this, Sebastian's sharp, handsome features remained entirely unbothered. He tapped his fingers rhythmically against the table, completely disinterested in whatever his wife was up to.

Seraphina casually poured Julian a cup of tea. "Did you two have a fight? She's just a woman, Julian, don't let her get to you."

Seeing Seraphina actually defend Raelynn only highlighted the massive gap in class between the two women.

Julian leaned back, scoffing in disbelief. "You wouldn't believe the garbage she's spewing about you. I didn't realize how vile a jealous woman could get."

He repeated every word he had just heard Chloe yell downstairs.

Sebastian, who had been completely zoned out, suddenly felt his eyes sharpen. A heavy frown crept onto his face.

"Raelynn said that herself?" He looked up, his tone impossible to read.

Seraphina's face instantly fell.

"If Julian heard it with his own ears, it has to be true," she answered softly on his behalf, biting her lip.

Leo Flynn slammed his hand on the table, cursing out loud. "So she's just making up dirty rumors about Seraphina?! Raelynn's a woman herself. No wonder she's such a failure. Seven years of being a pathetic doormat and she's still unloved. Is she that obsessed with tearing other women down?"

He thought for a second and declared, "You can't just let her smear you like this. We need to demand an explanation."

Following Leo's lead.

Seraphina took a deep breath and looked at the silent Sebastian, silently asking for his permission.

Sebastian didn't say a word. He just picked up his phone and stood up to take a call.

He wasn't joining in, but he wasn't stopping them either.

Leo and Julian locked eyes, instantly understanding his stance.
