Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 113

Eugene shot his wife a warning look. "Enough. Let's not ruin the holiday mood."

Brenda swallowed her anger, leaning back in her chair with a cold sneer. That little home-wrecker Seraphina saw her son go to prison and instantly latched onto Sebastian, disguising her gold-digging as true love. And Jeanette was only too eager to fan the flames, practically rolling out the red carpet for Sebastian to get a new wife. How could she not be furious?

"Don't blame me for speaking the truth, Jeanette. Even if you aren't Sebastian's biological mother, you should at least care about the Croix family's reputation, shouldn't you? Are you really going to let two brothers turn on each other over a woman? Are you genuinely planning to welcome Seraphina as his second wife?"

Hearing that, Raelynn finally looked up. The Croix family dynamics were a total mess. Jeanette wasn't Sebastian's biological mother; she was his late mother's younger sister. The aunt had married her own brother-in-law to become the new matriarch.

"Who can control or dictate matters of the heart?" Jeanette replied coolly. "Someone just has to accept their own failure."

Raelynn caught the subtext immediately. That 'failure' wasn't just referring to Cameron. She was taking a direct shot at Raelynn, the current Mrs. Croix.

"Jeanette, you..." Brenda's face twisted with rage.

"Enough! Eat in peace!" Matilda slammed her hand on the table, immediately shutting down the verbal crossfire.

The smoke cleared, but Raelynn kept quiet. They were openly discussing these things right in front of her, clearly viewing her as completely irrelevant. They didn't care about disrespecting her. Meanwhile, Cyrus and Eugene acted as if they were completely deaf to the wives' bickering.

The entire family was cold.

And then there was Sebastian, sitting right beside her, casually pouring himself tea as if the war sparked by his scandalous affair with his cousin's ex-fiancée had absolutely nothing to do with him.

Raelynn had no desire to get caught in the crossfire. She glanced at the dishes on the table. Right in front of her was a plate of Celery Root Mash and meatballs. She quietly set her fork down.

"Sebastian, Lynnie can't reach the other dishes. Take care of her," Matilda instructed, never missing a chance to force them into playing the happy couple. She shot him a pointed look, demanding he cooperate.

Raelynn didn't care either way, but Sebastian didn't refuse. He grabbed a small plate, pressed his long fingers against the lazy Susan, and spun the Celery Root Mash and meatballs away from her.
