The firelight danced across Raelynn's face. She swiftly intercepted the frame, snatching the wedding photo she had once dreamed of taking right out of his hands, before effortlessly grabbing Shane by the collar.
Raising the heavy wooden frame high in the air, she aimed it straight at his chubby face.
"Raelynn! Are you out of your mind?!"
Seraphina shrieked in panic from behind her.
Raelynn's grip on Shane didn't loosen an inch. The little chubster was wearing a neat bowtie, but as she twisted her fingers into his collar, the fabric snapped taut against his throat.
Shane's face instantly flushed crimson.
Being so small, he was powerless against Raelynn's strength and could only let out a stifled, red-faced wail.
Raelynn glanced back.
Standing there were Sebastian and... Seraphina.
They looked for all the world like a pair of newlyweds returning home together.
Walking side by side, they were a picture-perfect match.
Taking in the hostile scene, Sebastian's predatory gaze locked onto Raelynn. The oppressive silence rolling off him was heavy, though he didn't immediately voice a reprimand.
Seraphina, on the other hand, had gone completely pale. Seeing Shane suspended by his collar, she erupted in furious heartbreak. "He's just a child! Even if you have a problem with me, you shouldn't take it out on a kid!"
"A child? I assumed he was raised by animals, considering he neither understands human words nor acts like one."
Raelynn's tone was surprisingly calm.
She had been married to Sebastian for seven years. Aside from their marriage certificate, these wedding photos—forced upon them by Matilda Croix—were the only pictures they had together.
For years, they had been the sole comfort in her unrequited love.
Even if they were divorcing, even if they were about to become strangers, she no longer cared about the photos she once treasured.
But she absolutely would not allow Seraphina or her family to trash them! To trample on them! To burn them to ashes!
Yet today.
Sebastian had given Seraphina and her brother a free pass into their home!
Seraphina's expression iced over, terrified that Raelynn might completely snap and hurt the boy. "Raelynn, your language is disgusting! Why are you taking out your adult issues on a helpless child?"
Julian stayed out of it.
Given the circumstances.
