Raelynn hadn't expected outsiders to view the two of them as a perfect, loving couple.
She didn't know if Sebastian had introduced Seraphina that way, or if they simply looked so deeply in love that strangers naturally assumed they were husband and wife.
Seraphina had originally planned to ignore Raelynn and walk straight to Sebastian. But hearing The principal introduce them as a married couple made her pause.
A smug smile crept onto her face. She cast a slow, condescending glance at Raelynn. "There's nothing to discuss. We had priority for the spot. I suggest you stop making a scene, Miss."
Miss?
Raelynn almost let out a cold laugh.
This woman had destroyed her marriage, yet here she was, putting on airs and pretending they were strangers in front of an outsider?
"Seraphina, are you addicted to playing the thief? Stealing someone else's husband is one thing, but do you have to grab at everything you see? What are you, a beggar?" Chloe snapped, refusing to let the provocation slide. Her words left no room for courtesy.
Seraphina's expression hardened.
If Chloe wasn't a member of The Hudson Family, she wouldn't have given her the time of day. Raelynn must have been feeding her lies to make her act so hostile!
"We all need to accept the facts, don't we? The results speak for themselves," Seraphina retorted coolly. "We're adults. You need to accept that you just aren't capable or charming enough. I'd advise you to face reality and stop treating everyone else as your imaginary rival."
Raelynn understood her perfectly.
Seraphina was implying that since Sebastian chose her, it wasn't stealing. It was true love.
"Imaginary rival?" Chloe scoffed at the sheer audacity. How could anyone be this shameless? Raelynn was the lawful wife! Seraphina made it sound like Raelynn was the mistress!
"Sebastian?" Seraphina didn't argue further. Instead, she turned to the man striding toward them, having just ended his call. She bit her lip slightly. "Ms. Hudson and her friend seem to want to take Shane's admission spot."
He addressed Raelynn directly, making his stance crystal clear.
Raelynn understood perfectly. Sebastian had deliberately pulled strings to snatch this spot for Shane.
He wasn't hiding it. He was warning her not to overstep.
The suffocating despair Raelynn had kept bottled up finally started to overflow. She could tolerate his indifference. She could even step aside when he gave Seraphina everything else.
But when it came to Lily's future, she would not yield an inch.
"Either you find another school for your mistress's little brother, or I'm getting Matilda involved," Raelynn said. Her voice was ice-cold and dead serious. She had never sounded so resolute.
Her beautiful eyes were sharp and unyielding.
