The studio was divided into various partitioned sections.
Following the assistant's directions, Raelynn quickly located The Makeup Room where Seraphina was getting ready. Seraphina hadn't even used the network's styling team; she had brought in her own high-priced glam squad.
She was clearly determined to leave a massive impression on the audience.
Before Raelynn even reached the door, she spotted him at the far end of the hallway.
Sebastian stood there with one hand shoved in his pocket, his head bowed slightly as he typed out a work message on his phone. His jacket was draped casually over his forearm. The crisp white shirt he wore looked impossibly sharp, catching the sunlight filtering through the window. Every staff member walking past couldn't help but steal a glance.
Raelynn had always acknowledged how devastatingly handsome Sebastian was.
But that physical appeal meant absolutely nothing amidst the shattered wreckage of their marriage.
As she approached, her eyes drifted to his hand holding the phone. It was completely bare. No wedding band.
In truth, he had barely ever worn it during their marriage.
Unlike her. Her ring had practically fused to her skin, leaving a scar-like mark that refused to fade. The contrast was laughable.
She suddenly hated herself. Hated how long it took for her to wake up, how late she finally took it off.
For years, she had consoled herself with the lie that Sebastian simply disliked wearing jewelry.
Only now, on the brink of divorce, did she truly understand. He just didn't want to admit he was married to her. To the outside world, he had always been a single man.
As she drew closer, Sebastian casually glanced up.
He didn't seem the least bit surprised to see her.
Raelynn quickly realized he must have reviewed the guest list and known she was going to be here.
So...
He knew she would be on the show, yet he still brought Seraphina to flaunt their relationship on camera, turning Raelynn into the ultimate laughingstock?
Raelynn's brow furrowed.
The suffocating feeling of being treated like a pawn grew heavier.
"Do you have a few minutes?" she asked, her voice remarkably steady.
Sebastian slipped his phone into his pocket and turned to face her fully. "Does it matter? You've already cornered me."
Raelynn clenched her fists. She obviously couldn't tell him it was to protect his own child. "We don't have much time left anyway. Let's just keep things dignified. I won't expose your affair, and you keep your true love low-key. Isn't that better for everyone?"
The divorce agreement specified the exact date.
They only had a little over a month left.
Sebastian had read the papers. Could he really not wait a few more weeks?
Sebastian ignored the implication of "not much time left."
He just stared at her face. Her posture was rigid, her chin tilted up defiantly. Her eyes were rimmed with red, and despite her calm expression, she looked like a balloon inflated to its absolute limit, ready to burst at any second.
He looked at her in silence.
He didn't agree.
But he didn't refuse, either.
Raelynn couldn't read him at all.
"I hope you seriously consider it. We're going to get our divor..."

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
