Raelynn thought she had misheard.
She never in a million years expected Seraphina to pin the stair-pushing incident on her too.
Chloe took a step forward, letting out an exasperated laugh. "What kind of absolute nonsense are you talking about? Are you completely out of your mind?"
Leaning comfortably against her pillows, Seraphina looked the picture of poised forgiveness. "Raelynn knows exactly what I'm talking about. Everyone here can see how 'coincidental' and convenient this entire setup was."
"You bull—"
Raelynn grabbed Chloe's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze to silence her. Then, she fixed Seraphina with a gaze that was calmer than ever. "You played around, dumped your fiancé, and hooked up with his cousin before the engagement was even called off. Do I really need to explain how much Brenda hates you for carrying on this shameful affair?"
Brenda and Seraphina had physically fought, and now she was getting the blame?
Even if they wanted an easy scapegoat, what made them think she would just roll over and take it?
Raelynn's choice of words was brutally blunt.
Hooked up. Shameful affair.
Was Raelynn really being this ruthless right in front of Sebastian?
Was this how they always interacted as a married couple?
Julian couldn't help but study Sebastian's reaction.
He saw Sebastian leaning casually against the window frame. He raised his eyes to look at Raelynn, completely devoid of joy or anger. He didn't seem the least bit infuriated by her harsh words.
Julian shrugged. He knew the truth. This calm was only on the surface.
There was no way Sebastian was going to let Seraphina's injury slide.
"Watch your mouth," Seraphina snapped, a flash of annoyance crossing her face. "I was willing to let this go, but I never expected you to march in here and demand that an injured woman return to work. Trying to guilt-trip me about my professionalism? Well, I don't feel the need to hold back anymore."
Listening to her self-righteous speech, Raelynn almost laughed.
In fact, she did.
Seeing Raelynn's unapologetic expression,
Leo furrowed his brow. "What's with that attitude? At the end of the day, Sera is practically family to you. There's no need to make things so ugly. She's been more than understanding. Even if your love life is a mess, you can't just blatantly mock the law. This is intentional assault."
