Chloe was practically vibrating with rage.
She stomped forward, fully prepared to grab Seraphina by the hair and drag her out of that bed.
Even though she wasn't the most favored child in The Hudson Family,
She had never been subjected to this level of blatant disrespect!
She was suffocating with secondhand fury for Raelynn!
Chloe was fiercely impulsive. She moved so fast that Leo and Julian didn't even have time to react.
But the second she reached out,
Sebastian's hand locked around her wrist like a vice.
Raelynn's heart leaped into her throat. She entirely agreed with Chloe's sentiment, but if Sebastian actually got involved, things would spiral out of control.
She immediately rushed over.
She grabbed the hand Sebastian was using to restrain Chloe.
Sebastian had never laid a hand on a woman or gotten into petty conflicts with them. His temperament had been ice-cold since childhood. What looked like polite restraint was actually just complete, callous indifference. He simply didn't care enough to engage.
But this involved Seraphina.
And Raelynn wasn't willing to gamble.
In her frantic rush, her shoulder collided with Sebastian's. She stood her ground, staring fiercely into his eyes. "We're supposed to be reasonable here, aren't we?"
The instant Raelynn's hand wrapped around his, Sebastian let go of Chloe.
He lowered his gaze, his eyes lazily sweeping over the fingers tightly gripping his wrist. He could feel her trembling.
"Brenda said it herself. You pushed her," he stated, his voice devoid of emotion.
He was, once again, spelling out the accusation against her.
Raelynn's expression hardened.
So that was it. Brenda, the actual culprit, had packaged herself as the eyewitness?
Slowly straightening his posture, Sebastian didn't pull his arm away. Instead, he said dryly, "Throwing a tantrum won't solve anything. I imagine you know that better than your friend."
Raelynn knew that perfectly well.
She let go of his wrist.
Turning around, she took Chloe's hand. "Tantrums won't solve anything, you're right. But the ones letting their emotions cloud their judgment aren't me or Chloe. It's you. All of you, with your blatantly biased, unfair hearts."
Gripping Chloe's hand tight, she turned and walked out.
