Sebastian was still surrounded by a flock of executives. Standing tall in the center of the crowd, he effortlessly buttoned his suit jacket with one hand. His gaze was steady and unbothered as it swept in her direction.
The two buildings were right next to each other.
So the distance was incredibly short.
Since the plaza was wide open.
Luke's proposition echoed with crystal clarity.
Raelynn hesitated for a second, surprised that Sebastian's meeting had lasted this long.
Only for him to coincidentally witness this exact scene.
Seeing Raelynn's silence, Luke took a step closer, leaving her no room to back away. "Even if NexusMind has a crisis management plan, rebuilding credit takes a whole cycle. You're an employee there. If you pull in my investment, you'll fast-track your way up the corporate ladder. Agree to my terms. It's an incredibly lucrative deal for you."
Raelynn lifted her eyes.
Meeting Luke's confident, predatory gaze.
Her lips parted.
But before she could formulate an answer.
A luxury car pulled up smoothly in front of Sebastian just a few yards away.
In a heartbeat.
Sebastian's gaze swept over her.
He looked as detached as if he had merely witnessed a random stranger getting hit on in public.
He stepped straight into his car.
Showing zero interest in his soon-to-be ex-wife's response.
The car sped off into the distance.
Raelynn quietly weighed the pros and cons.
Luke stared at her radiant complexion. "If you agree, come on a vacation with me to Seaport City. I can sign the contract whenever."
Raelynn could obviously see the pure desire for conquest in his eyes.
But she didn't give a damn about whether his intentions were pure or not.
"Since Mr. Sterling is showing such great sincerity, having dinner is no big deal."
She looked at him casually. "Time."
Luke easily caught the underlying message.
It was strictly limited to dinner.
If he didn't like it, the deal was off.
If money could sway her, then taking her to bed wouldn't be difficult at all.

Raelynn ended up mentioning the situation to Preston.
Preston let out a cold laugh. "The sheer depravity of men. How did Luke even get interested in you?"
Wasn't he incredibly disdainful of her not too long ago?
Raelynn looked down at the project report. "Like you said, men. Unless it's their own wife or girlfriend, they'll happily entertain thoughts about any beautiful woman they see."
Preston protested weakly. "Can you exclude me from that generalization?"
Raelynn nodded in agreement. "True. You're completely out of the market."
He was a total workaholic.
Preston chuckled and shook his head.
"Still, you don't have to force yourself into uncomfortable situations just for NexusMind's funding. We'll figure it out eventually."
Raelynn smiled. "I'm going to Seaport City anyway to scout their smart medical tech. New domestic products usually get tested in first-tier markets like Seaport City before hitting Kingsford. The resources there are cutting-edge. I was already planning to do some field research so we can refine our own project."
Rather than saying she agreed to dinner with Luke, she was going for a research trip and conveniently grabbing an investment along the way.
Preston knew she was thinking several steps ahead, but he insisted anyway. "Then I'll go with you. Otherwise, I won't have any peace of mind."
