Seraphina had already walked right up to Sebastian, slipping into the space beside him with an ease that made her look more like his rightful wife than Raelynn ever had. "I'm starving. Let's find a restaurant first."
Sebastian pulled his gaze away.
He didn't pay much mind to the frantic mother's comment from a moment ago.
After all, he knew perfectly well that Raelynn had never had a child.
The only kids she ever interacted with were patients in the emergency room.
"Alright," Sebastian said, his voice cool and deep. His peripheral vision swept over Raelynn without a single ripple of emotion.
Then, ever the gentleman, he opened the car door for Seraphina.
Every move they made drew the attention of the crowd. Everyone watched with sheer envy, wishing they could be the one so carefully and tenderly looked after by the CEO of Croix Holdings.
The group drove off in a grand procession.
Raelynn let out a massive, shaky breath.
She couldn't even bring herself to care about how blatantly Sebastian and Seraphina were flaunting their relationship right now.
All that was left in her chest was a bone-chilling, lingering panic.
Of course she was panicked.
She had nearly exposed Lily's existence. Thank God Sebastian hadn't suspected a thing.
For these last three months, she couldn't afford to let her guard down for even a second.
As long as she made it through these three months and had that official divorce certificate in her hand, she would be safe.
By then, even if Sebastian found out about Lily, there was nothing he could do.
She had to ensure this divorce went through without a hitch.
The divorce papers were already signed, and while there weren't any major issues with them, still...
Raelynn lowered her eyes in deep thought. When it came to Lily, she needed to set up a few more layers of protection just to be safe.
Once the mother and her child were safely loaded into the ambulance, Preston Moreno came out.
"What just happened?" Preston asked, grabbing Raelynn and stealthily slipping out through the car door to dodge the swarm of reporters.
Raelynn didn't mention the spectacle with Sebastian and Seraphina. She just gave him the cliff notes about saving a kid.
Preston found it highly amusing. "If they knew the person who just saved that kid's life was the foremost expert in traditional holistic medicine and the mastermind behind Digi-Medica, they'd think they hit the absolute jackpot."
Raelynn just smiled and shrugged.
"That's ancient history."
Preston reached over and lightly flicked the top of her head. "You single-handedly took NexusMind Technologies public. Do you have any idea how many people would kill just to get a meeting with you? Not to mention you're the sole protégé of Professor Alistair Finch, the country’s leading medical authority. When you act modest, it just sounds like a humblebrag, you know that?"
