Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 22

Particularly a man like Sebastian. Even if things were ice-cold between him and Raelynn, if he ever found out he had a daughter, there was no telling what kind of war he'd start.

Powerful families always put a premium on their bloodline.

Raelynn completely understood Preston's worry. "Don't sweat it. The divorce agreement with Sebastian was signed almost seven years ago. It's his own fault he didn't realize what he was signing back then. The divorce is set in stone. Plus, Lily is a Hudson. The Hudson Family isn't subject to the Croix family's control whatsoever."

That was one of the main reasons she had agreed to that man's proposal to put Lily legally under his name in the first place.

Preston thought of Mr. Hudson—

He finally let out a soft chuckle. "True. Once you have that divorce certificate in hand, Sebastian is out of options."

After grabbing lunch with Preston, Raelynn drove around Kingsford by herself, checking out a few top-tier kindergartens.

The sun was just starting to dip below the horizon.

Raelynn had just pulled out of one of the schools and was waiting at a red light in a busy commercial district.

She casually glanced out the window.

Her gaze instantly locked onto the sidewalk.

A sleek Bentley pulled up to the curb.

A man and a woman stepped out, both turning back simultaneously to reach their hands into the backseat.

A cheerful five- or six-year-old boy grabbed their hands and happily hopped out of the car.

Sebastian's usually cold and ruthless features were softened with a rare, gentle warmth. Seraphina smiled up at him, and the three of them walked into the luxury mall together.

They looked exactly like a picture-perfect, happy family of three.

Raelynn's grip on the steering wheel tightened unconsciously.

The cruelest part was that she used to constantly fantasize about moments exactly like this—just her, Sebastian, and Lily, being this perfectly happy family.

It was those pathetic hopes of 'someday' and 'almost' that had dragged her through year after barren year of a loveless marriage.

And now, right at the bitter end, when all her feelings had been ground into dust.

She had to sit there and watch Sebastian effortlessly hand the very thing she had desperately wanted for years over to Seraphina and a kid who didn't even belong to him.

Raelynn shook her head and let out a dry laugh.

It was almost painfully ironic.

She had always known Seraphina had two younger brothers. One was in college, and the other was much younger—this little five-or-six-year-old boy in front of her.

She just never expected Sebastian to embrace her baggage to this extent.

He was actually taking the time out of his day to go shopping with Seraphina and carefully help take care of her little brother.

Sebastian was a busy man. In the past, forget about taking her shopping or to the movies—he barely even made time to have dinner with her.

Let alone buy her gifts for the holidays or try to make her smile.

Now, she finally understood. It wasn't that he didn't know how to be a good husband.
