But the moment she turned around, she saw her grandfather wheeling himself out of his room. Upon seeing the two of them, his cloudy eyes were momentarily confused before sharpening with recognition. He beamed with joy. "Sunny? Sebastian?"
Raelynn scratched her head.
She hadn't expected him to catch them outside.
Before she could move, Sebastian strode forward. "Grandpa."
Arthur was clearly thrilled to see them together. His frail, bony hands instantly gripped Sebastian's. "My good boy, come in, come in and sit down."
Sebastian glanced at Raelynn.
Left with no other choice, Raelynn forced a smile onto her face and followed them in.
Arthur's room was a VIP suite equipped with everything. The moment he wheeled himself inside, he started rummaging around like he was hunting for treasure, pulling out fruits and tea cakes for them.
"Cherries and strawberries for Sunny, and tea for Sebastian."
The old man was in his nineties, and despite his dementia, he remembered exactly what the two of them loved.
Sebastian sat down, the usual coldness in his eyes softening into the respectful humility of a younger generation. "Grandpa, you don't need to go through all this trouble."
Arthur put on his glasses and laughed warmly at the sound of his voice. "You two haven't visited together much these past two years. Seeing you both makes me so happy."
He gently patted Sebastian's hand.
"I thought you two were fighting. Seeing you doing so well puts my mind at ease. Everything is alright between you, right?"
Raelynn felt a massive lump in her throat.
She had no idea how to explain it.
After all, in just two days, they would be signing their divorce papers...
"Everything is fine. Don't worry," Sebastian replied smoothly, going along with the charade. His handsome face betrayed absolutely no hint that their marriage was falling apart.
Raelynn shot him a strange look.
She fully expected him to be blunt about it. Since they were just going through the motions to get the certificate, she figured he wouldn't bother playing along.
Sensing her gaze, Sebastian looked at her evenly.
Raelynn stood up quickly. "Grandpa, I'll go make the tea."
Arthur waved his hand dismissively, immediately stopping her. "Your tea skills aren't nearly as good as Sebastian's. Just sit and rest."
Raelynn was speechless.
Sebastian's lips twitched upward into a faint smirk. He placed his phone on the table, picked up the tea leaves, and stood up. "Alright, I'll take care of it."
