Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 224

He was undeniably curious about this child.

She was brilliant, obedient, and possessed a rare assertiveness. Most children her age hadn't fully developed their mental faculties yet, but this little girl was vastly different.

He knew a bit about the Hudson family's situation.

Which only made him more curious about who her parents actually were.

Lily finally looked up at Sebastian. Blinking, she said, "My dad is dead."

The answer was entirely unexpected.

Sebastian unconsciously frowned.

His eyes flickered. "I'm sorry."

Lily waved it off. "It doesn't matter, I don't need a dad anyway. I just need my mom. My mom is stronger than most people."

Sebastian thought a child would be sad and emotionally fragile when talking about life and death, especially at an age where they needed a father figure.

But the little girl in front of him clearly didn't care about having a dad.

"You've asked me so many questions, now it's my turn." Lily felt that just answering his questions was a losing deal. She turned to look at him. "Are you Shane's dad?"

Sebastian raised an eyebrow. "No."

"Then why are you here pretending to be his dad? Does he not have one? Or do you just like being a dad to little kids?" Lily's voice was soft and sweet, but the questions cut deep.

Sebastian didn't bother giving her a brush-off answer. "I don't have any children of my own yet."

"Oh." Lily seemed to vaguely understand, then she suddenly pointed into the distance. "Then are you going to have a baby with your wife?"

Sebastian followed the direction of Lily's finger.

Seraphina was standing over there, chatting with several wealthy socialites.

His eyes remained unfazed as his lips parted slightly.

Just as he was about to answer.

"Lily, it's time to go." Raelynn's appearance cut him off.

Sebastian slowly lifted his gaze.

Raelynn's expression was grim. Clutching the thermos in her hand, she quickly strode over and scooped Lily into her arms. Before leaving.

It seemed...

She strongly objected to him being near this child.

Repulsed by it, even.

Sebastian watched her retreating figure, remaining rooted to the spot.

When Seraphina walked over, she caught his expression. Following his gaze, she saw Raelynn disappearing around the corner. A cold glint flashed in her eyes before she asked softly, "Sebastian?"

"Did you really like that little girl just now?"

She naturally wouldn't believe Sebastian had wanted to speak to Raelynn.

It had to be another reason.

Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind, and she smiled. "It seems you really like daughters? More than sons?"

There was a saying that men who wanted daughters were the ones who truly adored their wives.

Sebastian didn't answer that. He merely offered a noncommittal quirk of his lips.
