After all, she had used buying a house as a lie to trick Sebastian into signing the agreement.
His sudden 'concern' inevitably made her feel a twinge of unspeakable guilt.
"Not yet," Raelynn replied casually, catching sight of Seraphina walking toward them in the distance. "Are you offering to help me pick one out?"
Sebastian gave her a thoughtful, calculating look.
He didn't say yes, and he didn't say no.
From behind them, Seraphina's voice rang out: "Sebastian, let's go."
Raelynn looked over.
Seraphina's eyes flashed with annoyance, clearly unhappy that the original wife was taking up her boyfriend's time.
Sebastian made his choice without a microsecond of hesitation: "Yeah, get in."
He turned and walked straight toward Seraphina.
He didn't say a word to Raelynn, but she knew exactly what that meant: rejection.
After all, Sebastian would never waste his time helping her look at houses if it meant neglecting Seraphina.
Seraphina's expression softened slightly. She shot Raelynn a sideways glance. "We have somewhere to be, so we won't be giving you a ride. Do whatever you need to do."
Raelynn let out a soft laugh.
Listen to that. Such a natural display of territory.
Acting as if Raelynn was the complete outsider, while the two of them were the married couple, merely offering her a polite dismissal out of basic courtesy.
Her ride arrived right on cue.
Raelynn didn't bother giving them a second glance. She got into the car and disappeared down the street.
When Julian walked out of the building, he caught the end of the scene.
He looked around, confirming that Raelynn's supposed date was nowhere to be found.
He shook his head as he walked. "I knew it. Raelynn just made the whole thing up to save face and try to make you jealous."
Seraphina raised an eyebrow, highly amused by the pathetic attempt.
Sebastian's eyes remained completely flat as he opened the car door.
His voice didn't waver. "It doesn't matter."
-
Raelynn planned to finalize the house situation as quickly as possible.
