A jolt of shock went through Seraphina.
Raelynn's maneuver had scored her both fame and fortune.
Seraphina had fully expected Longstride to suffer a massive slump for at least the next year. Combined with Raelynn's assumed incompetence in management, the company was supposed to spiral into irrelevance.
But now...
Her head throbbed.
The idea of being surpassed by Raelynn—a girl she had stepped on since childhood, someone tossed away to the middle of nowhere—was entirely unacceptable to her.
Mid-spiral, her phone buzzed.
Julian had sent her an iMessage: What's going on?
Julian had obviously seen the news too.
Seraphina took a deep breath before typing back: I got played. Raelynn really hates me.
Blanche leaned over, catching sight of Julian's message.
It sparked a realization. "At the very least, Sebastian's friends are still on your side. Look at Leo Flynn and Mr. Yves. Raelynn doesn't have anyone's loyalty. You need to nurture these relationships with Mr. Yves and the others. They'll be powerful assets for you later on."
Especially the Yves family.
Their background was incredibly complex, and having someone like Dr. Evelyn Hayes at the helm made them a formidable force.
She wasn't worried about Leo Flynn; he was tied to her daughter by a life debt.
But Julian... Blanche's eyes flickered as a thought crossed her mind. She stressed, "Make sure you really maintain your connection with Mr. Yves."
Especially with things at a standstill with the Croix family.
Having stable, powerful outside backing was crucial.
Seraphina's mind was a mess. "Mr. Yves is great to me, but Chairwoman Hayes doesn't exactly like me. If I could get her to owe me a favor, that would change everything, but that's practically impossible. Unless I somehow managed to find her missing granddaughter."
Blanche suddenly paused. "Her granddaughter?"
