Or maybe he wouldn't even wait for a better time to strike.
After all, she had delivered herself right to his doorstep. Raelynn thought bitterly: just how far would her husband of seven years go?
In Sebastian and Seraphina's eyes, she had been malicious and deliberately tried to ruin their lives.
But Raelynn couldn't care less about how they saw her.
With his long strides, Sebastian closed the distance in seconds. He stared straight ahead, his thoughts unreadable. "Sunny, you've got quite the temper on you these days."
His voice sliced through the cool night air, thick with a detached coldness.
She couldn't tell if he was mocking her.
Raelynn didn't look at him, but she knew exactly what he was referring to: her scorched-earth tactic of outing Seraphina as a future sister-in-law.
"I didn't outright say the two of you were morally bankrupt degenerates having an affair. I was doing a good deed, giving you both cover. You should be thanking me."
Raelynn's tongue was as sharp as a knife.
Sebastian finally lowered his gaze to look at her.
They had reached the entrance.
The staff respectfully hurried over to take their coats.
It was a major family dinner.
The turnout was substantial.
Aside from Chairman Croix Sr. and Tristan Croix, who were overseas, and Cameron, who was still locked up, almost everyone else was present.
The Croix family's dining hall was massive, yet only required a few tables.
They were seated at the main table. Raelynn no longer bothered acting like the subservient wife who needed to win over the elders just to survive. Stripped of all pretense, she offered a bare-minimum greeting to Matilda and the others before taking her seat.
Brenda Polk looked displeased, shooting Raelynn a sharp glare. "Tossing your messes onto our laps just to get what you want. You've got quite the scheming mind, Raelynn."
In Brenda's view, Raelynn had purposely exposed the sister-in-law connection to ruin Seraphina's romance with Sebastian. But a woman like Seraphina was damaged goods, and her precious son Cameron wouldn't want her leftovers anyway!
Raelynn held her water glass, not even bothering to lift her eyes. "That's right. Spending time with people like you all these years has given me so many stress knots that my doctor told me to just let my anger out. I don't coddle trash or trashy behavior."
