Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 362

Sebastian snapped his metal lighter shut and looked at Raelynn again, his tone completely flat. "You didn't need to go out of your way to hide it from me. I won't stop you from doing whatever it is you want to do."

The words stung. It made her feel like this was all just her own wishful thinking, a pathetic one-woman show she had orchestrated for nothing. She knew perfectly well that the lie about the miscarriage wouldn't spark an ounce of pity or remorse in him. She wasn't even looking for a reaction. She just realized she had woken up too late. She had let herself suffer in silence for far too long. She should have walked away from Sebastian much, much sooner.

"Let's get one thing straight. Whether you stop me or not makes zero difference," Raelynn fired back, making her own stance crystal clear. "You can't interfere with a decision I've already made."

In an instant, the unspoken tension between them snapped into open hostility. Beneath the surface of their calm exchange, neither was willing to back down.

Sebastian was usually so polished and distant, but he had a terrifying talent for twisting the knife. "If you insist on destroying your own body," he said coldly, "it's not like I can feel the pain for you."

Raelynn knew exactly what he meant. The mockery was veiled but sharp. He was saying that for all her temper and stubbornness, she was only ruining herself. He always knew exactly how to strike where she was most vulnerable.

Tonight was a rare departure for them. It was the first time in years they had truly gone head-to-head, trading blow for verbal blow. In the past, he rarely even bothered to engage when she tried to argue.

Raelynn had assumed that even after dropping the bomb about the miscarriage, they would just gloss over it like they always did. Yet, even without hysterical screaming, she could feel it—he wasn't entirely unaffected.

But the man was impossible to read, and honestly, she was completely done trying to decipher what was going on in his head.

"You couldn't even manage basic decency as a husband," she scoffed. "I'd never expect you to hurt for me."

She was determined to tear down every word out of his mouth. There would be no more pretending everything was fine.
