Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 373

Julian cast an unreadable look at Raelynn and Preston. "Director Moreno has always been the type to hold nothing back when it comes to mentoring his people."

"Exactly. If you were his student, all of those connections would belong to you," Leo pointed out.

The tight knot of anxiety in Seraphina's chest instantly loosened.

She thought Leo made a lot of sense.

But...

"Mr. Moreno is just introducing her to his father. He does not even stop to consider that a mediocre former ER doctor like Raelynn could never truly earn Director Moreno's serious backing. Does having a few high-profile introductions magically fix her lack of actual talent?" Leo shrugged, acting as though he were just stating the harsh truth.

To be fair, they had been genuinely shocked when they first saw the scene.

But it did not take long to rationalize it as nothing more than Raelynn milking her social connections.

Seraphina covered her mouth, letting out a soft, elegant laugh.

It was a fair point.

She had panicked for a second when she first walked over and saw Raelynn chatting with those heavyweights.

But now that she thought it through, there was nothing to worry about.

"It doesn't matter," Seraphina said, lifting her chin slightly, her smile the picture of educated grace. "If sweet-talking were all it took to guarantee a boundless future, then actual skill and competence would be useless. We might as well all just take classes on emotional intelligence."

Her passive-aggressive dig hit its mark perfectly.

Yet she left the insult unspoken enough to maintain her dignity.

She severely doubted those important men would actually remember a woman like Raelynn.

In the end, they would just label her as 'the close friend of Director Moreno's son.'

Raelynn simply lacked the substance to make them remember her for herself.

Leo gave Seraphina an approving thumbs-up.

Sebastian stayed out of the petty chatter, as a stream of industry elites had already swarmed him to exchange pleasantries.

Once Raelynn wrapped up her introductions, a staff member directed her to find her seat.

She never even noticed the group standing nearby.

Preston lowered his voice as they walked. "I just got the inside scoop. Sebastian is here today too. Given that Croix Holdings is the ultimate dream company for the geniuses bred at Kingsford, he's obviously on the VIP guest list. But..."

Resigned, Raelynn sighed, ran a hand through her hair, and walked toward the seating area.

The moment she arrived.

She spotted her name card sitting directly next to Sebastian's.

In that single second of hesitation.

A hand moved faster than hers, snatching Raelynn's name card and tossing it into the back row like a piece of discarded trash.

Then, the person placed a card reading 'Seraphina Vance' in the empty spot next to Sebastian.

The entire sequence happened in a blur.

Raelynn looked up.

She met Seraphina's eyes.

Seraphina had clearly seen her standing right there, yet she executed the swap right to her face.

Looking utterly... entitled.
