Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 476

Raelynn Ortiz was stunned by the suddenness of it all.

Seraphina Vance had rushed straight for the spot, even bumping into Raelynn hard as she brushed past.

Ian Hudson, holding Lily, reached out to lightly support Raelynn's waist.

His cold gaze swept over them.

Raelynn stared at the departing car, her mind filled with the image of Sebastian Croix leaving without a single backward glance.

Her eyes burned with unshed tears. Her breathing grew ragged.

Even knowing that Sebastian was unaware of the truth when he gave the emergency transport to the perfectly healthy Shane, she couldn't suppress the suffocating wave of despair.

Despite trembling with anger, Raelynn refused to show any of it in front of Lily.

The reason she wanted the school's transport was because it was equipped with medical gear and emergency supplies. A child's illness couldn't wait.

"I'll drive. It'll be fine, Raelynn," Ian reacted swiftly, carrying Lily toward his car.

Raelynn pushed her anger aside.

Lily had been hospitalized frequently when she was younger.

The experience almost triggered a trauma response in Raelynn.

Once in the car.

Ian expertly reversed and sped straight toward the hospital.

In the backseat, Raelynn held Lily's feverish body.

Lily wiped the tears from her eyes with the back of her hand. Seeing Raelynn's pale face, she reached out, wrapped her small arms around Raelynn's neck, and gently patted her back. "Don't be scared, Mama. I just feel a little sick. It's not a big deal."

The little girl was burning up, yet she was impossibly sensible for her age.

Raelynn felt like her heart was being seared by a hot iron.

Lily touched Raelynn's cheek and added, "It's okay. A lot of kids are sick. Shane's sister and brother-in-law are worried about him too, just like you and Daddy are worried about me."

Her sweet understanding only made Raelynn feel worse.

It wasn't the same.

That wasn't someone else's brother-in-law. That was Lily's real father.

But that truth had to remain a secret.

It would only hurt the child.

Lily would be devastated if she knew.

Raelynn said nothing, merely hugging Lily and kissing her forehead. "Okay."

Seraphina knew better than to press the issue.

-

Lily needed to be hospitalized for two days.

During that time, Ian had to step away to handle company matters.

Raelynn stayed at the hospital for two straight days without going home. She and Ian had a silent agreement to keep Lily's illness a secret from Professor Alistair Finch and his wife, Celia.

The elderly couple doted on Lily like a grandchild, and they wouldn't be able to handle the stress of seeing her sick.

They simply claimed they had taken Lily out for a two-day trip.

As for Shane...

Unsurprisingly.

The little chubster was discharged the very same day, bouncing off the walls.

His sturdy build meant he was perfectly fine.

Raelynn didn't run into Sebastian and Seraphina again.

She thought that was for the best. It was peaceful.
