Sebastian had already whipped the car around and vanished into the night.
Raelynn finally understood.
He probably hated enduring those three hours even more than she did.
But that didn't matter anymore.
She turned and headed upstairs.
The next day.
Raelynn went to Kingsford University.
Kingsford Medical University was hosting a historic, S-tier national neuro-pharmaceutical project—an event of unprecedented scale.
The absolute best mentors and their star pupils from top medical schools across the country had all arrived in the capital. The faculty at Kingsford University was tasked with uniformly managing these visiting research teams.
Submitting the project reports was the very first phase.
Following that would be the patent competition.
Only then would they have a shot at securing an entry ticket into the National Academy of Traditional Medicine.
Although everyone was pouring their hearts into the same massive project, they were also fiercely competing for the limited number of faculty positions at the Academy.
There was a mountain of work to do, and as a professor, Raelynn couldn't just stand on the sidelines.
When she arrived at the small conference room.
The various research teams from different universities had just finished turning in their reports.
From a distance, Raelynn could hear someone exclaiming, "Ms. Vance, your report is incredibly professional! You scored in the top tier, and even our professor praised it. You're definitely going to be highly valued here."
Raelynn's footsteps paused.
Over by the table, Seraphina smiled warmly. "I just put in a little hard work, that's all."
Catching sight of Raelynn, she raised an eyebrow and sauntered over, publicly challenging her. "Are you satisfied with this report?"
Raelynn knew exactly what was going on.
Sebastian was undoubtedly behind this.
With his close personal ties to Harvard's Professor Robert, getting a heavyweight of that caliber to directly guide someone of Seraphina's level was a breeze.
She could easily spot the arrogance and smugness swimming in Seraphina's eyes.
This was nothing more than petty revenge for the last time Raelynn had completely demolished her academic presentation.
Sierra nodded vigorously. "I'm from the Yves family. I know you saved my grandmother, Professor Ortiz. I admire you so much, and I'm so grateful to you."
That was exactly why she had desperately wanted to be Raelynn's student.
Raelynn hadn't expected the world to be so small.
Then again, the surname Yves was quite rare.
Terrified of being rejected, Sierra quickly backed toward the door. "They're not too sweet! They won't be a burden on your health!"
Before Raelynn could even reply, Sierra had already bolted out of the room.
"..." Raelynn silently tucked the box of cookies away.
Sporting a bright smile on her babyish face, Sierra bounced out the door—only to run headfirst into Seraphina, who had been lingering in the hallway for God knew how long.
Sierra offered a polite greeting, having no intention of striking up a conversation.
But Seraphina followed her. She hadn't expected Sierra to actually be a member of the Yves family.
"Are you Cameron's younger sister?"
She stared at Sierra, studying the gullible innocence practically written across the girl's face.
