He turned and walked out.
The once-glamorous gala was left in absolute ruins.
Nothing remained but a catastrophic mess for the family to clean up.
When Raelynn stepped out into the crisp night air,
her legs felt like lead.
She had never actually intended to wage an all-out war with the Croix family.
But the fake divorce certificate had crossed her ultimate bottom line: Lily's safety.
Refusing to be their puppet any longer, she wasn't about to beg them for the real paperwork.
If the Croixs wanted to play dirty, she only had one option left.
Standing on the curb, Raelynn requested a ride-share, but the app showed she was over a hundred people deep in the queue.
Out of patience and desperate, she dialed Ian Hudson's number.
He picked up after a few rings. "Raelynn?"
She swallowed the hard lump in her throat. "Are you free right now? I really need to see you."
Ian immediately picked up on the tension in her voice.
He paused for a beat. "I'm working late at Zenith Holdings. I'll wait for you."
Zenith Holdings was the Hudson family's main corporate branch in Kingsford.
"I'll send my assistant down to meet you," he added.
"Okay," Raelynn whispered before ending the call.
But the ride-share map showed zero progress.
She touched her cheek. It was completely dry; she hadn't shed a single tear.
She realized she was far stronger than she had ever given herself credit for.
Suddenly.
A sleek, obsidian Rolls-Royce glided out of the darkness and idled smoothly in front of her.
The tinted window rolled down.
Sebastian was behind the wheel, one hand resting lazily on the steering wheel as he looked at her. "Where to? Get in."
Raelynn stared at his unbothered, perfectly calm face.
A cynical smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
She could easily tell him to get lost.
But a sudden thought crossed her mind, and she decided against it.
She opened the door and slid into the passenger seat without hesitation. "Zenith Holdings, please."
At the mention of the building, Sebastian's gaze snapped to her as she buckled her seatbelt.
He knew exactly who owned Zenith Holdings.
And he knew exactly who she was rushing to see.
Yet here he was, playing chauffeur to deliver his estranged wife right to Ian Hudson.
