Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 558

Power was so much more useful than pure cash.

"Sebastian, does all of this feel strange to you? I mean, do you really believe I have ties to the Yves family?" Seraphina looked up at him, her eyes wide. "My identity... even I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it."

Sebastian lowered his gaze.

He easily spotted the triumphant smile she was failing to suppress.

Blinking slowly, he kept his tone perfectly neutral. "Anything is possible."

His response only made her smile widen.

As far as she was concerned, that was confirmation. If Sebastian believed she was the Yves heiress, then convincing the Yves family would be a walk in the park.

"So, what about us..."

Sebastian cut her off with a casual, careless drawl. "If you are the Yves heiress, you'll need to deal with the Hudson family first. Where you stand on that issue is going to be incredibly important."

Seraphina knew that perfectly well.

If she claimed this elite new identity, she couldn't possibly accept the arranged marriage with Ian.

She had to admit, Ian was a dazzling, exceptionally successful man.

But Sebastian was her ultimate prize. She had already given him her heart, and she fully intended to marry him and build a life together. Ian would just have to be tossed aside.

"I know. I'll be absolutely firm about it. You know exactly who has my heart." She softened her voice, taking a deliberate step closer and looking up at him with unbridled affection. "Sebastian, it's getting late. Why don't you just stay the night here?"

Sebastian narrowed his eyes slightly. After a brief pause, he gave a cool reply.

"Given the current situation, the dynamics between our three families are far too delicate. I'll pass."

A flash of disappointment crossed Seraphina's face at the rejection, but she eventually reasoned that he was right.

Now that she was on the verge of being recognized as the Yves heiress, she was technically already Ian's 'fiancée' by proxy.

She needed to clean up that mess first so she could be with Sebastian properly.

-

The next morning.

She would probably be sick with jealousy.

Feeling incredibly smug, Seraphina sat down at the table and took a slow, elegant sip of her coffee.

Ian completely ignored her bait, getting straight to the point. "While the DNA test hasn't been conducted yet, I wanted to reach out so we can coordinate our stances ahead of time."

"Go ahead," Seraphina replied breezily. It made perfect sense that Ian would pivot toward her for the sake of his family's legacy.

Besides, she was practically flawless in every regard.

"Regardless of whether you are the Yves heiress or not, if the results are positive, I expect us both to firmly and mutually cancel the marriage contract. We have zero interest in one another. I figured it was best to make that crystal clear up front."

Ian was a composed, pragmatic man, but that trait also made him effortlessly ruthless. He delivered the rejection with a polite, gentlemanly tone that left absolutely no room for negotiation.

Seraphina's smug expression instantly shattered.

Ian had called... to reject her?

The DNA test hadn't even happened yet, and he couldn't wait a single second to shut her down. It was a complete and utter humiliation, a total rejection of everything she was!
