Raelynn glanced at the screen and saw Julian's full name. She noted how formal Dr. Hayes's contact name was for her own grandson.
She checked the time.
Ten o'clock.
Why were they calling this late?
Seraphina, however, instantly beamed.
It was finally here!
She couldn't stand Raelynn's deliberate display of affection with Dr. Hayes. Once the test results were announced, she could rightfully demand that Raelynn back off and respect her boundaries!
And this result was also the ultimate green light for her to officially become Mrs. Croix.
Dr. Hayes's heart tightened in her chest.
She waved her hand. "Bring it here."
Hearing the commotion, Sebastian lifted his eyes and took a subtle step back.
He twirled his phone in his hand, displaying a composed, unbothered demeanor, as if he already knew exactly what the outcome would be.
Since he was standing right next to Raelynn, it was impossible for her not to notice his reaction.
Raelynn's lips parted slightly.
It made sense, she supposed.
Once Seraphina's identity was confirmed, it would be the perfect time for Sebastian to marry her and give her a proper title. With the backing of the Yves family, no one in the Croix family—not even Chairman Croix Sr. abroad—could possibly object.
It was a massive victory for him.
The commotion seemed to have caught the attention of Quentin and Sylvia, who had just stepped outside. They hurried back into the foyer.
Dr. Hayes brought the phone to her ear.
"Speak."
"Grandma, I understand how you're feeling right now, but I need you to keep an even temper," Julian's voice came through, slightly breathless. It was clearly urgent, prompting him to call the matriarch the second he knew.
"Skip the nonsense. Give me the results," Dr. Hayes snapped, her patience thinning.
She had waited years; she wouldn't crumble so easily now.
As she spoke, she switched the call to speakerphone.
Blanche stepped forward, squeezing Seraphina's hand and giving her a reassuring look.
Seraphina stood tall, radiating absolute certainty.
Julian paused for a moment before answering, "I monitored the entire process personally to ensure the lab's authority. She shares zero DNA with the Yves family. Seraphina Vance... is not my sister."
He was battling a whirlwind of emotions.
His first instinct was the bitter sting of another false hope.
But right on its heels came an inexplicable wave of relief.
He had a strange feeling his grandmother might be experiencing the exact same thing.
That was why he couldn't wait and called the moment the ink dried.
Quentin fell silent.
The revelation was entirely unexpected.
Perhaps, from the very beginning, he had never felt any familial connection to Seraphina. Now, all that remained was a vague, indescribable sense of pity.
Dr. Hayes stood frozen for a long time before her mind kicked back into gear. A storm of thoughts raced through her head until her gaze finally locked onto the spiraling Blanche and Seraphina.
The two women looked as if they had been hit by a freight train.
They seemed even more devastated by the truth than the Yves family themselves.

I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
