He looked at Sebastian, whose expression remained apathetic. "Aren't you going to do something about that? Men are all the same. Has Raelynn forgotten she's married, letting another man take care of her like that?"
Sebastian cast a sidelong glance.
Just in time.
Raelynn got into the car and turned back to give Preston a sweet smile.
Her smile for Preston was unguarded and genuine; her eyes crinkled warmly at the corners, and her dimples lent her an air of effortless sweetness.
This kind of smile.
He had seen it many times before.
Raelynn used to be a girl who loved to smile.
Especially the first time she called him "hubby," when he just looked at her quietly without answering.
To avoid the awkwardness, she immediately flashed that kind of smile, trying to bluff her way through.
Those memories surfaced for only a split second, causing barely a ripple.
Sebastian's dark eyes remained stoic.
He withdrew his gaze indifferently, lowering his eyes to light a cigarette. "It doesn't matter."
This sentence.
Happened to be overheard by Seraphina as she walked over.
The corners of her lips curled up.
But then she narrowed her eyes. "Now I understand how she got into NexusMind, and why Mr. Moreno rejected me from joining the team."
She didn't state it outright.
Julian looked at her. "You're saying Preston got blinded by a pretty face, handed her a resume-builder on a silver platter, and then let Raelynn whisper in his ear to reject you?"
Seraphina didn't give a clear answer.
But she was already certain.
Raelynn was using her looks to serve men, trading them for a spot on the R&D team and a marginal author credit.
Was Raelynn really that terrified of facing her on the same playing field?
Sebastian flicked his cigarette ash. "Let's head back first."
He simply wasn't interested in Raelynn's affairs.
But Seraphina smiled.
No man would accept his wife having divided loyalties. Even if there was no love, even if he had other women on the side, he would never allow his wife to do the same.
But Sebastian didn't care.
