She was never one to burn her bridges without a backup plan—she naturally had much better options waiting.
She had a lunch date with Chloe that afternoon.
Chloe had already texted her the address.
It was right around the corner.
As soon as Raelynn walked into the restaurant, Chloe waved her over and slid a fresh cup of tea across the table. "Resignation sorted?"
Raelynn nodded. "Pretty much."
"When you brought up the divorce, how did Sebastian react?" Chloe couldn't help but ask.
After all, with a man wielding an ego that massive, wouldn't his fragile masculinity shatter at the thought of his wife dumping him first?
Raelynn stared at the steam rising from her cup and shook her head. "He didn't care."
He didn't even bother to sit down and discuss the logistics.
Even when she finally reached her breaking point and demanded a divorce, he effortlessly maintained his cold apathy.
Honestly, the male species was a joke. He could neglect you for years, but the second you tried to leave him, he couldn't even give you the time of day.
Chloe ground her teeth in fury. "Is that man's heart made of solid ice?! Seven years! Any normal human being would have some kind of reaction!"
Raelynn didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Her crushing failure, the agonizing realization that her devotion had been stomped into the dirt—she couldn't escape any of it.
Only she fully understood the torment of the last seven years.
Her tears had dried up a long time ago.
She was no longer the pathetic woman begging for scraps of affection from Sebastian just to survive.
Chloe then pressed for the exact reason Raelynn finally pulled the trigger.
Raelynn didn't hold back, recounting the entire ER incident exactly as it happened.
Chloe's face turned completely green. She slammed her hands on the table and stood up. "They're not even trying to hide it?! Does Seraphina have zero shame? Her fiancé just got locked up, and she's already sleeping with his cousin?! And she got knocked up?!"
In all her years of living, she had never seen anything so incredibly vile!
Knowing Chloe was fiery and passionate, her voice had easily carried across the room.
Raelynn immediately reached out to pull her back down.
She still didn't have the full medical picture from last night.
She had only relayed what the young nurse said, giving Chloe a rough summary.
