Raelynn's response was too blunt.
Almost the second Sebastian's voice faded.
Without any thought or hesitation.
Sebastian's expression remained unchanged, still maintaining his posture of looking at her.
Raelynn looked up into his deep eyes, pulling her coat tighter, her voice light and calm. "There is no chance for us. Under no circumstances. We are two diverging lines heading in entirely different directions, with no possibility of intersecting ever again."
She didn't understand why he suddenly asked that question.
She thought they had already made things clear.
He explicitly didn't want to remarry, and she considered it all in the past.
The question was abrupt.
But it didn't stop her from answering.
There was no need for even a shred of hesitation or lingering attachment.
Sebastian just quietly looked at Raelynn. The elevator light was on, waiting. After a long while, he finally replied, "Go back inside."
He turned and stepped into the elevator.
The doors closed.
Raelynn stared at those doors for a long time.
For some unknown reason, she felt that his gaze held too many hidden emotions. In that brief moment, she actually felt like he was looking at her as if pleading for help.
But that trace of emotion was too obscure.
If he didn't speak.
She couldn't pry into it.
She raised a hand and pinched the bridge of her nose, crossing her arms as she turned back into her home.
The Croix family estate.
At this moment, it was brightly lit.
However, on what should have been a day of joyous family reunion, there was little festive cheer to be seen.
Because the authorities had arrived.
Everything happened too suddenly.
Before anyone could even take a bite of the New Year's Eve Dinner, officers with badges and warrants showed up at the door, shattering the already fragile atmosphere.
When Sebastian nonchalantly walked through the door.
The living room was already in chaos.
Yet today, they had been smashed to pieces.
He looked at Sebastian, his gaze dark and imposing. "Sebastian, does this have anything to do with you?"
But Jeanette didn't give Sebastian a chance to speak.
She rushed forward with red, furious eyes. "Sebastian! He's your own father! Going to such ruthless lengths to destroy your own blood—aren't you afraid of karma?!"
Once Cyrus was arrested and convicted.
Where would that leave her and Stephen?!
Even though Stephen was still young, he was still a legitimate son. If Sebastian fell, at least half of his share would go to Stephen. But once Cyrus went down, everything would be overturned!
"Sebastian, say something! Your father's situation is so bizarre. It's the holidays, are you trying to tear this whole family apart?!" Matilda was gasping in anger, demanding answers in deep disappointment.
"Mom, I told you long ago that he was a viper we could never tame! He's vicious and heartless! That fire over a decade ago was no accident—he really wanted to kill his own parents!"
Jeanette grew hysterical.
Her eyes held nothing but fear and hatred, mixed with an elusive, dark regret.
"Sebastian?" Tristan, seeing the house in absolute turmoil, squeezed his eyes shut and stepped forward. "Where were you?"
Sebastian raised his gaze.
"You've all clearly made up your minds, so why bother asking me?" he let out a soft chuckle, his striking features carrying a devilish arrogance. "Obviously, the Croix family won't be celebrating this fake, happy holiday anymore."

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
I think for as slow as the beginning was, their turning point is just so fast... really hope we actually get to read about R and S and their rekindle.... we did not read 950 pages for their story to be sidelined. Im for this sideline story, but it if it's to separate from the main characters and their story, please make it separate book....
Author please update more chapters...
I really like Zella, she is becoming a good friend to Raelynn. Ian needs to go. The relationship with Chloe is confusing. Some chapters they are cousins, sometimes they're sibling. A little confusing....
Julians role as big brother- I feel comes from a genuine place, but in a relationship thats is just as stained as Raelynns and Sebastians. It hard for me to connect to his big brother role as he too was such a problem before. And while they talked a little bit, the conversation did not give me the believe there was resolution between Raelynn and Julian. For a brute, he should make his feelings clear about the situation to Raelynn and then step back, until there is more foundation for him to stand on....
Knife in my heart. I hurt for Raelynn. She has made it this far, but how much does she have in her, everyone has a breaking point. Some back of me hopes the author is joking to lighten the mood after so many intense chapters, but thats not this kind of story or couple....
My heart cannot take this. This, cannot be how it ends with these too. They need resolution with each other. Raelynn needs to be more humanize with Sebastian. We know she is hurt, but this is the branch. She needs all these answers, if not for them to be together, then for Lily to have both her parents. Stop with the mind games Raelynn!...
Its like the story is just repeating itself...
Timeline is getting lost for me. So many treasured little memories Raelynn has but yet, he was gone for years ? Anyways... still rooting for them! These two need a heart to heart. Lily "forgetting" someone, not possible in this day and age and I hope thats not their storyline....
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
